Kagura and Renae were locked in a fierce bout. Even though Renae sustained some injury in her battle with Daryan, she was still keeping up with a fresh Kagura who attacked her right after. Swift slashes met one another, sparks flying from the collision of blades. Neither female gave an inch and all the trapped Hiruka could do was watch in awe. "They're both so strong…" He mumbled.
Kagura lightened the gravity around her body to make her movements faster, while the gravity around her sword was heavy, yet she was still able to swing it with precision. This led to powerful slashes that left noticeable cuts in the ground, but Renae's skill and power was still on par with her despite the advantage she gave herself. Perhaps it was more accurate to say that Kagura leveled the playing field against the Martell by doing this. "Was it truly wise of you to challenge me?" Renae asked, Focus taking the shape of a katana, which allowed her to easily parry Kagura's strikes. Kagura was of great skill, so even the slightest slip up could lead to injury, but Renae didn't have the luxury of making a mistake.
Kagura narrowed her eyes, hardly one for small talk. Instead she aimed an overhead swing at Renae, who avoided it and just let the ground be sliced in half. Kagura pushed forward, leaping into the air with a twist, gravity aiding her movements. She feinted a slash at Renae's back while using gravity to her advantage. Renae reacted on a dime, Focus turning into a twin blade which allowed the Martell to block the strike at the last second. "Tch…!" Kagura sucked her teeth, landing back on her feet. The moment her feet touched the ground, Renae managed to land a slash on her lower left side. "Agh..!" It didn't draw blood, but it left a nasty burn mark that would take some time to heal.
"A Martell can't afford to be slow." Renae replied while going for another attack, but her center of gravity increased tremendously, her legs buckling as she forced herself to avoid succumbing to this crushing weight.
"Strong Form!" Kagura sheathed her sword only briefly to stab the hilt of the blade into Renae's chest. The resounding impact sent Renae flying backwards with a deafening shockwave.
Renae was thrown back, but she quickly regained her composure, now flying forward due to her magic. The twin blades of Focus were held back as she prepared to strike. "Plasma Shock!"
Kagura sprinted forward at top speed, unsheathing her blade the moment she got close enough to Renae. "Slashing Form!" The two women passed each other. To the bystander, Hiruka, it looked like they only slashed at each other once. But that was far from the case; the two swordswomen, in that short time of passing each other, slashed at each other multiple times with so much speed even the trained eye wouldn't be able to keep up. Kagura was a few feet away from Renae, her kimono shredding in various places as multiple slash marks appeared on her body. "Ghk…!" She grunted, legs giving out and she fell to a knee.
As for Renae, she grimaced as multiple slash marks appeared on her body, ripping away her clothes and drawing some blood. "Hrk…" The Martell's legs felt weak and she wobbled a bit. The magic barrier particles in her body, though few, were weighing on her. Kagura was as skilled a foe as she expected and putting forth so much effort to fight made the particles spread faster. "I must finish this quickly and get to Medusa…" She told herself, her body feeling stiffer than usual. "One strike." She put Focus back into a single katana, plasma radiating strongly off the blade.
"Oh no…!" Hiruka gasped. It looked like Kagura was still attempting to recover from such attacks. "This might be the end of her…"
Renae made her way towards Kagura, preparing to swing her blade to finish the Mermaid off. Before she got too close, Kagura held her hand out, creating a powerful force of gravity to repel the Martell. Battling against gravity itself was far too much effort for Renae in her condition, so she took the chance to leap back. Kagura lunged forward in an attempt to thrust her blade, but Renae had enough time to move swiftly, leaping up to wrap her thighs around Kagura's arm. "…AGH?!" Renae's body was superhot to the touch thanks to her magic. Kagura hardly had the time to register what happened as Renae flipped around her body, ultimately pushing off of her back and forcing Kagura into the ground, which did no favors to her injuries. "Oof!"
Renae flipped and landed…not on her feet. Her body felt so heavy she landed on her side, groaning from her injuries. "Gh…" Yellow eyes burned with determination. She was so close…! Stabbing Focus into the ground to help herself up, Renae shakily made her way to her feet. "I won't fail this mission…as a Martell and a Viper…"
Kagura stabbed Archenemy into the ground as well, using it to support herself. Renae was strong. Even from injuries against Daryan, Kagura was having a rough time. Wait…injuries from Daryan? Of course…. "A Mermaid does not give in that easily…" Kagura said through weighted breaths. Her dominate arm was burned thanks to Renae's toss from earlier, making it difficult to hold a firm grip on her blade.
"You're limit is fast approaching." Renae said, as if she wasn't nearing hers due to the magic barrier particles. A break was needed but she had to push through this foe first. "I can strike you down in an instant!" Renae moved to strike Kagura. She was faster and Kagura could barely defend herself. As her sword raised…her body then stopped moving against her will, much to her surprise. "W-What…is this…I can't…move?" This wasn't gravity. Her own body seized up, preventing her from moving another muscle.
"I knew it…" Kagura said with a stern look, but there was a hint of a smile on her lips. "You shouldn't have humored that idiot…"
"There it is…!" Hiruka grinned. Though he didn't witness Daryan battle Renae. He only arrived in time to see his best friend defeated, but Daryan always had one trick up his sleeve…
"Don't worry about me! If I get taken out, I'll make sure to take that person with me. As long as I can engage them in any way with my magic, their downfall is set." Daryan's words echoed in Hiruka's mind.
Daryan's Trick: sending small, hair thin bones into one's body in specific places to stop their body from moving. He pulled this trick off against Rahkeid in the war, which was the saving grace against the White Dragneel. It was a trick he could only pull off once against a new face, but it never failed.
"T-That dragon slayer…he got me…?" Renae was in shock that she let her guard down. Or perhaps…she did underestimate the lackadaisical Dragon Slayer due to his attitude.
"No, he just slowed you down. But in the end…" Kagura used this opening to lunge forward, delivering the final slash across Renae's chest to put her down. The Martell collapsed on the ground after the attack, Kagura sliding her sword back into its sheathe. "It is the Mermaid that consumes the Viper."
"Whoa…" The gravity bubble around Hiruka signified that he was free…and next. "Ack…!"
"You claim victory over me this time, Kagura…." Renae looked up at Kagura with a slight smile. "But I just want you to know that I really do not like losing…so don't rest yourself just yet." Renae's body started to rise in temperature, a subtle smirk appearing on her lips. Kagura realized what was happening too late and Renae let out a powerful discharge of plasma with all the magic power she had left. She couldn't move her body and she acknowledged this, so she was going out with a bang.
"GAAAAH!" Kagura hardly had the time to defend herself. She was blown away by the eruption of plasma and thrown into a nearby rock that crumbled. When the explosion died down, the only thing keeping Kagura standing was gravity. She was beat up pretty badly, but she refused to go down until she was crowned the victor of this fight.
"And Kagura Mikazuchi claims 5 points in a narrow victory against Renae Martell." Ice reported.
Hiruka, not wishing to press his luck, flew over to Kagura to tap her on the shoulder with a bit of force. This counted as an attack, so if and when she collapsed, it would go to Bosco. "I'm not sticking around here…!" With that, he flew off.
"Ugh…" Kagura was severely weakened by Renae's last ditch effort. It damaged her greatly, the only thing keeping her standing and conscious being the adrenaline pumping through her veins, and the gravity around her body to make it feel less heavy. "The world outside Fiore truly is a strong place…a mage capable of fending both myself and that idiot off one after the other with little issue…" She could at least keep up the appearance that she was walking just fine…but anyone with eyes could see she was mere moments from collapsing if she didn't get a break soon…

Rajaron was not leaving until he felt satisfied. Though he struck Alice directly with his fist, he felt the scales on his hand rot and decay. This didn't bother him as Alice was flat on her back, looking at the dragon prince in shock. "I said stand up, Demon Dragon."
"There's really no need for this!" Nasir stood in front of Rajaron. "Our mission is to bring both you and Alice back home. We'd been searching for you for centuries, but you never once turned up. Can you imagine our surprise to hear that you're working with a bunch of humans!?"
Rajaron stared at Nasir for a moment. "I don't want to be talked down to by a dragon that was chained to fate. My foolish father and younger siblings…that's all they ever were; chained to a concept that they did not understand."
"Your father was simply trying to protect you." Nasir objected while shaking his head.
"Don't sugar coat it." Edna said. "There's no good reason to justify abandoning your kid." She wasn't helping Nasir's case, but she could tell that Rajaron wasn't going to hear it anyway. So it was best to just rip the Band-Aid off. "We were all brainwashed by the idea of fate…we were puppets to some grand scheme and my brother died because of it!"
"…?" Alice stood up slowly. She had no idea what these dragons were talking about…but she could at least attempt to take them out here and now. That was 15 points. Despite the fuzziness in her head, she wanted to act on the notion of serving Her Majesty. So she inhaled deeply, lurching forward as her lips parted. "Expiration!" A funnel of poison and decay shot from her mouth, destroying everything in its path, even the flowers Alice liked so much.
Rajaron didn't keep his focus off Alice, so he turned sharply and let loose an oral attack of his own. "Black Dragon's Roar!" A wave of darkness exploded from his mouth, clashing with Alice's attack before exploding. The wind kicked up from the explosion forced all dragons present to cover their eyes. "This one here is the only one who was exempt from that cursed notion of fate that you all were brainwashed with! My father paid the price of his stubbornness with his own death…and when I heard about that, it infuriated me to no end."
"Are you upset that you're father died to humans…?" Nasir asked carefully.
"Hardly. If all it took were a few humans to defeat him, he was never worthy of the title Dragon King." Rajaron spat. "I am upset on the basis that he simply died. It was my duty to surpass him as the eldest, but he refused to yield to anything other than fate. That is why I would never return to the Isle, even as it sits in the middle of the ocean He was weak."
"That's harsh." Edna said. "But then, why are you hanging around those Wizard Hunter chumps? You could've eaten all of them if you wanted."
"They are Hunters." Rajaron said while clenching his hand into a fist. "They seek the strongest to turn them into prey, and grow stronger still. I respect these humans, because they act on their own values and do not compromise no matter what. They are strong and unyielding; they do whatever it takes to claim victory! They are at the top of the chain!" Not wanting to hold back anymore, Rajaron lunged towards Alice, ignoring Nasir and Edna since she was his sole prey. "And I shall be the strongest dragon!"
"That makes you no different than Acnologia!" Alice exclaimed while clashing her fist with Rajaron's, the collision of magic causing a shockwave that nearly knocked Nasir and Edna back. "I remember…Acnologia was the reason the Isle was created. He was a mindless dragon that wanted nothing more than the death of all others! I won't be slaughtered just so some broken hearted beast can prove a point!" With a bit of extra oomph, Alice summoned a tail and swung it at Rajaron, knocking him back.
"Gh!" Rajaron was thrown back, but he dug his claws into the ground to prevent from sliding too far. "I don't wish to rule over anything…only to prove my dominance. I want all dragons to know that I am the one who reigns above them all! They will live in fear of my strength! I will show them the power that my father never could!" Multiple black orbs appeared around Rajaron, and with a mighty roar, he sent them towards Alice.
"Decay!" Alice held her hand out forward, a pulse of her Decay Curse bursting outward. Everything in the immediate vicinity died; flowers, the air rotted, and the incoming magic just deteriorated into nothing. "Moonless Breath!" Alice exhaled once more, a purple stream erupting from her mouth. This was a far stronger attack than Expiration and it showed.
Rajaron smirked at the incoming attack, black flames flickering around his jaw. "Blackfire Breath!" He lurched forward, releasing a torrent of black flames to clash with the Moonless Breath. The two attacks exploded violently, nearly destroying the entire field in the process. Edna and Nasir had no choice but to distance themselves a bit from the fight. "That's the spirit! Do not hold back on me! Your power is strong, but it doesn't strike fear in me! We are on opposing sides! Pergrande vs Alvarez! Two of the strongest kingdoms in the land!"
"I won't let Her Majesty down…" Alice spat while her purple aura began to intensify, showing how serious she was about this fight. However, that just caused the surrounding area to die even more, much to her dismay. But for Emeraude, she would fight. "The woman who freed me from my prison, I swore my life to her…I will not let her down!"
"Nasir, we gotta do something…" Edna said with an annoyed sigh. There was absolutely no way they were getting out of this unscathed or without effort. "If we don't stop them now, they're going to kill each other. And if we don't stop Alice, her power is going to kill everything in Joya, including us."
"I am aware…" Nasir grit his teeth. This issue would be better resolved if they could get Ena, Kurthnaga, or Venoma in Joya. But as it stood right now, that was largely impossible and would impose on the rules of the tournament. But as Nasir thought that, he came up with a plan… "I have an idea. It is risky and will infringe on rules…but when a dragon starts fighting, it will not stop until one of them drop. We cannot afford that here…"

Lucy and Elly were locked in combat at long last. The two celestial mages of Fiore and Pergrande were not giving an inch in their battle. Lucy needed to win Loke back no matter what and this was the only way she could. Lucy was in her Aquarius Stardress, throwing her hand forward. "Aqua Metria!" A powerful torrent of water erupted from her hands, soaring towards Elly at full speeds.
"Zephyr!" Elly waved a silver key around, calling forth her wind spirit. Zephyr tipped his hat and clapped his hands together.
"Thunderclap!" Zephyr yelled, the force of his clap creating a wind funnel so fierce, it split apart the Aqua Metria while soaring towards Lucy.
"Huh!?" Lucy was taken aback by Zephyr's strength. But not to the point where she couldn't defend herself. A bubble of water appeared around her body, shielding her from the Thunderclap. It was a close call, but she managed to escape from that unharmed. "That was close…"
"Don't rest yet!" Elly said with a grin, her attire flashing gold before turning into a black and green dress. "Star Dress: Zephyr! Let us act as one!" She grabbed Zephyr's hand and pulled it back together, "World Swallowing Hurricane!" Both Elly and Zephyr exclaimed at the same time, throwing their arms forward. This created a powerful hurricane that swirled around Lucy, lifting her into the air against her will.
"H-Hah!?" Lucy was helpless while the wind started to cut and beat her down. She wasn't going to stay trapped here for very long, though. "Virgo!" Lucy whipped out a golden key and while nothing happened at first, a chain emerged from the ground to grab onto her leg and pull her into the ground.
"…She should've escaped by now…" Elly mumbled. It was too late when she noticed the ground cracking under her feet. "Huh!?"
Lucy, now in her Virgo Star Dress, and Virgo emerged from the ground, the two women swinging their legs at Elly and Zephyr in unison. "Lucy and Virgo Kick!" Lucy exclaimed, her heel swiftly colliding against Elly's cheek to stagger her. "Now, Virgo!"
"Yes, Princess." Virgo gave a curt nod, sending chains to wrap around Zephyr's body and promptly slammed him into the ground, keeping him restrained. "The enemy is unable to move."
"I see what your plan is…" Elly gave a slight grin before swiping her hand to the side. "Air Cutter!" Crescent blades of wind moved to strike Lucy and Virgo, who had no defense for it. Lucy could only cry out in pain as her outfit was ripped and her skin was cut to the point it drew blood. The wind was as sharp as blades and Elly was proud of this. "But you need more than one plan to defeat me!" While Lucy shielded herself from the wind, Elly jumped forward, her Star Dress changing once more into Leo. "Regulas…!"
Lucy's eyes widened. Elly was already adept at using Loke's Star Dress? She couldn't fall behind, so she donned Leo's Star Dress as well, rearing her leg back as light surrounded it… "Regulas…"
"IMPACT!"
"LUCY KICK!"
The two limbs collided in a fierce explosion of light, blinding anyone who happened to be watching this fight. Elly and Lucy slid back after the collision. "Gate close." Elly said, closing Zepyhr's gate. "I'm not going to make you fight Loke, that would be rather rude in and of itself…but there is something I've always wanted to test with you. Gate of the Virus, open!" Another sliver key held was out and from it; a black and red sphere emerged. Elly's attire also changed, turning into a black and red gothic dress, coming with leather gloves and leather thigh high boots. "Star Dress: Virus!
"Eh…?" Lucy was on guard. She did not like the familiar sensation she got from this 'Virus', seeing how it didn't even have a name.
"Be careful, Princess." Virgo said. "This one presents a bad omen…"
"Go." Elly pointed her finger forward and the Virus just flew towards Lucy.
"I shall stop it!" Virgo ran forward, prepared to halt the Virus in its tracks, but to her surprise, it just went right through her, draining magic in the process. "W-what happened…?" Virgo questioned as her body felt weak, causing her to collapse on the ground.
"Virgo!?" Lucy's eyes went wide. She closed Virgo's gate immediately and focused on the incoming Virus. She moved to the left to evade it, but it pursued her. "Regulas Impact!" She swung her light covered fist at it and made contact! But…it didn't budge. Instead, the orb began to wrap around her arm despite her attempts to shake it off. "H-Hey…what's going on…!? T-This sensation is…" Soon, it constricted her arms and legs, making it difficult for her to move while it began to drain her of magic. "Agh, no…! T-This is…!"
"As I thought…" Elly stroked her chin. "This virus is manmade Celestial Spirit, a byproduct of what was left of Lambda. I extracted it from Emeraude's two soldiers before they were executed."
"T-This is Lambda…!?" Lucy's eyes widened. No matter how much time passed, she couldn't escape that entity.
"Watered down." Elly explained. "It has no conscious of its own, it just follows orders. This Star Dress imbues me with Lambda's properties to absorb the magic and vitality it's draining from you. I grew very curious after that incident during the race and it turns out I was correct. Lambda has bonded with you so strongly you cannot shake it off, no matter how hard you try. You two are essentially one being split apart. The fact that you survived so long with the virus inside of you to begin with is nothing short of a miracle."
Lucy clawed at the ground, attempting to stay conscious as her body was being drained. This sensation was all too familiar and she hated it. "Ngh…"
"You only escaped your past self before because of Mii. But you have no aid here." Elly said. "You can kiss your chances of victory goodbye. You are alone."
"Alone…?" Despite her situation, Lucy did manage a slight smirk. "No…I'm never alone. I have a helping hand…just for a situation like this…"
"Huh?" Elly quirked a brow. Lucy wasn't making any sense.
"Sophie…!"
"I hear you…!"
There was a pink glow around Lucy's body, repelling the Virus from her. It was basically Lambda, so Sophie's magic was still potent against it. Lucy felt her energy return and she lunged at Elly before she even had a chance to register what happened. Donning her Taurus Star Dress, rearing her fist back as Sophie's magic swirled around it, the image of the girl in question appearing beside her. "Demolition Drive!" A powerful punch to Elly's gut was delivered, Lucy's raw power and the extra oomph from Sophie sending Elly flying back.
"GUH!" Elly coughed up some blood from that hit, rolling along the ground for few seconds before managing to land on a knee. "W-What was that…!?"
"A little help from my friend." Lucy said while standing up with a grin. She couldn't hear Sophie anymore…it was a bit wrong of her to ask for her help in the first place, but she needed it. From what Emeraude told her, Sophie was split up so it made sense she couldn't exert much effort. "You're just like Lambda right now, so I know that had to hurt a lot…"
Elly shook her head, standing back up shakily. Lucy got her with that one, she had to admit. But she still had more than enough tricks up her sleeve. "Don't worry about my wellbeing. I am a Commandant of Pergrande. This is nothing." She then held out Loke's key, placing is near her chest. "I have no choice but to go all out if I intend to claim my supremacy."
Lucy's eyes went wide in fear. There was no way… "W-What are you doing…!?"
"You have opened my eyes to a technique I never thought I could perform." Elly said while stabbing Leo's key into her chest, a bright golden light erupting from her body. Lucy had to shield her eyes yet she had fear because she knew exactly what was happening. That light died down after a few minutes and Elly's appearance completely changed; she donned armor, her hair was tied back into a pony tail, and she had a longsword in her grasp. "Star Dress: Celestial Spirit King!"
Lucy's face went pale. Elly did it… "H-How did you…!?"
"I watched your battle over and over." Elly said while fleeing this surge of magic flow within her. "I knew it was possible to summon the Celestial Spirit King by breaking a golden key, but that would do neither of us any good…but I saw how you burned a Zodiac Key to fuel this power. It's the same principle, but without any loss. I had Loke explain to me how you achieved this power and he told me everything. It's commendable, truly. You have achieved a feat no Celestial Wizard would think possible…but that is your hallmark on history."
"H-Huh…?" Lucy slid into a stance.
"You and I both know you cannot hope to match this power unless you activate it yourself. So you will clash with me…or you will fall." Elly was making her demands. Lucy had to transform into her own Celestial Spirit King Star Dress, or she would lose right here and now. "But to tell the truth, it wouldn't matter anyway. Because the moment we made our deal, you were fated to fall against me. This is your final battle in this tournament, Lucy Heartfilia."
