Harry and his Brainy Girls

I don't own Harry Potter at all

A/N: right, there's some language in this, but it's only in a small part of it. This is also an exclusive chap to this series. Warning Ron bashing.

Chapter 208: Lavender Brown

Harry entered the Gryffindor common room to loud yelling. His first instinct was to stop Ron and Hermione from one of their epic rows, but he paused when the female voice was definitely not Hermione's. He was curious to who Ron would be arguing with if it wasn't Hermione. He got to the common room and found Ron glaring at his girlfriend Lavender Brown who had been the one shouting in the first place. Lavender looked pissed, very pissed. The last time Harry saw that look on Lavender's face was during the war and in one of the fights where Parvati got hurt. Lavender unleashed some Gryffindor rage against the Death Eaters who harmed her best friend.

"What does it matter" Ron snapped.

"For fuck sakes Ronald" Lavender said angrily, "it's the same thing every time. You always want it even when I'm not in the mood."

Harry blinked. They're fighting about their sex life, here in the middle of the common room, in front of everyone? The Man-Who-Won just sighed as he shook his head.

"Hey, I've earned it. I helped win the war" Ron shouted back.

"So it doesn't mean you get easy access to me. I'm not that kind of girl" Lavender said fiercely.

"Could've fooled me" Ron mumbled though it loud enough for all in the room to hear.

Uh-oh Harry thought.

Despite how Lavender came off she was anything, but a slut, whore, vapid bimbo or any of those other things that have been used to describe her. Lavender was quite smart, but preferred to act like a ditzy blond. Her valor during the final battle and pitch battles before that proved she could hold her own in a fight and then some. She was a fierce lioness in battle taking down all comers.

"That's it Ronald, I've had it. You're not getting any from me any more!" Lavender shouted.

Ron goggled.

"Oh by the way, you've got a tiny dick and I faked every one of my orgasms I had with you" Lavender said getting in the last word before turning on her heel and leaving.

/Scene Break/

It had been a few weeks since Lavender cut Ron off and it ended their relationship as well. Word of Ron's size spread along with his lagging performance after the break up. Ron wasn't happy as he tried to fight back, but it wasn't going anywhere. All the females in Hogwarts had sided with Lavender and the guys weren't so sure they should side with Ron since several had girlfriends and they didn't want to be on their bad side. The ones who didn't have a significant others didn't want to say anything due to actually wanting to have a date in the near future.

"Come on mate, back me up here" Ron said.

Harry gave Ron a look that plainly said, 'I'm not getting into this and if you think I will than you're nuttier than Voldemort'.

"Fine, be that way" Ron huffed and stomped away.

Harry shook his head. He really didn't understand his best friend. How Ron thought he could just move onto the next girl without some kind of repercussion.

Hogwarts gossip network was tight and with Lavender at the helm it meant Ron probably won't get a girl until school lets out. He then turned to Lavender and found her giggling and talking to Parvati. He did feel bad for Lavender. Her family had died in the war making her the last of her family, the last Brown.

It made Harry sad that once again the war took away the most precious thing. He felt bad for Lavender, he really did. He wished there was something he could do to help her though it looked like she was doing well coping with it all. But he could see the sadness in her eyes. He knew it all too well since it was the same sadness his eyes held.

/Scene Break/

"Huh, what am I doing over winter break?" Lavender asked.

"Yeah, I was just wondering" Harry said.

"I don't know really. I haven't thought about it" Lavender said honestly.

"Well I was thinking of heading to one of the islands my family owns and wanted some company" Harry said then rubbed the back of his head with his hand in an anxious way, "Hermione's too busy studying for N.E.W.T.'s so she's out and, well, Ron, he's gotten himself detention over the break for, well, you know."

Lavender nodded. She knew all about what Ron had done. She was the Queen of Gossip in Hogwarts. What Ron had done was tick off McGonagall in the worse way. Ron was sentenced to detention through most of winter break. Something not even the Weasleys twins got. Molly was all for it after she had found out what Ron had done.

"I guess it would be nice to get away. The only other option is to go home with Parvati" she said.

"Great, just meet me at the gates when we leave for break" Harry said with a smile.

Lavender watched Harry walk away and smile. Sure, she like every girl had a massive crush on Harry, but she had matured though not through the typical meanings. She still held onto her old ways, but she couldn't shake off all that had happened to her during the course of her life so far. Almost becoming a werewolf by Greyback really opened her eyes for the first time. Bill Weasley, who had been inflicted by the ailment by the same werewolf attacking her, saved her in the knick of time. Then he and Remus took on their sire and killed him. After that Lavender became harder, more serious. Sure she still laughed and everything, but she wasn't as lighthearted or flighty as she once was. Seeing death and almost dying does that to you.

She also got to know the real Harry and knew everything written about him was pretty much hogwash. The real person was much more interesting since he was as much as an open book as he was closed off. An odd combination, but it fascinated Lavender since she always did love a good puzzle. Maybe spending time with Harry over the winter break would help her decipher the Potter Code.

/Scene Break/

Harry stood waiting outside the Hogwarts gates. He got permission by headmistress McGonagall to forego the train and just use a portkey to get to his destination. He saw Lavender bounding up to him.

"Sorry, Parvati was talking my ear off" Lavender apologized.

"There's something I didn't think I'd hear. Parvati being the more talkative one over you" Harry joked.

"Oh she can be, trust me" Lavender said.

"I'll take your word for it. Here, take a hold of this and we can get going" Harry said as he pulled out a mangled tricycle tire.

Lavender took it without question. She trusted Harry with her life since he had led her and others into battles during the war. She felt the familiar hook in the navel and they were transported. She blinked as she saw her new surroundings and her jaw dropped.

Pristine white sand and clear blue water as far as the eye can see. The sun was shining bright and it was so warm. Much, much warmer than Scotland. Lavender shed her layers quickly.

"Come on, let me show you where you'll be staying" Harry said.

This snapped Lavender out of her reverie she was in. She followed behind Harry trying to get her mind wrapped around everything. It was so bright and warm. The house they'd be staying in was modeled after a tiki house though much larger on the inside due to magic.

"Right, so this is the living room, kitchen, dining room, there's a library over there. Then there's a sun room over there. There's also a pool here too I guess if you don't want to swim in the ocean. Your room is over there and mine will be right across from you" Harry said as he pointed out things.

Lavender nodded as she took it all in.

/Scene Break/

It felt good lying out in the sun. So warm that it seeped into her bones. It was a nice change from having to deal with a drafty castle. Say what you will about all the glorious things magic can do there's only so much it can do against the cold. She was lying out on a lounger in a bathing suit that wasn't too showy. Something you might not expect from her. There was an umbrella that helped shade most of the sun. Again magic is wonderful, but even with charms that protected you from the sun you could still get burned if you weren't careful.

"Here you are Lav" Harry said as he placed a cool drink on the small table beside her.

"Thanks Harry, but you don't need to do that" Lavender said.

"It's fine, I don't mind" Harry said with a shrug. He took the lounger that was set up beside Lavender's. He was dressed in a pair of shorts and a thin t-shirt.

"It's amazing you have this whole island Harry" Lavender said.

"I know, I'm still so surprised what my family owns really" Harry said earnestly.

"The Potters are quite wealthy from what I know" Lavender said.

"Yeah, about that" Harry said with a tired sigh.

"Something wrong Harry?" Lavender asked.

"A part of the reason why I came here instead of stayed at Hogwarts or even went to the Burrow for winter break. I needed to get away from it all. Now that I've got all of this more girls have been popping up" Harry said, "they all know about the Potter fortune and stuff along with me being the great hero. I want to find a girl who actually likes me for me and not what I have or am. You know."

Lavender nodded slowly.

"Let me guess, Mrs. Weasley and Ginny being two of them" she said.

"Yeah, Ginny not as much as Mrs. Weasley" Harry said as he ran through a hand through his hair, "sent me a lot of letters, tons of letters hinting about marriage and stuff."

"I've met Mrs. Weasley, I'm amazed she can do subtle" Lavender said.

She remembered her interactions with the Weasley matriarch and found the woman a bit too domineering for her tastes. She wasn't a girl who would fall into line. She had an independence in her that wasn't going to be snuffed out. And it looked like with Molly it was obey me or hear me shout at you, badger you into submission. She also didn't care for how easily Ron would obey his mom. It didn't show he was a wizard with a strong backbone.

Harry's lips quirked a little in amusement.

"Yeah, I'm amazed she hadn't sent me some kind of Howler" he said.

"I know. I'm surprised I haven't gotten a letter from her about my break up with him" Lavender said.

Harry knew whom Lavender was referring to. She still didn't call Ron by name.

"She probably got distracted by what he did to get into detention for the whole break" Harry said making sure not to say Ron's name.

"Probably" Lavender said then she changed subjects. "So what are you looking for in a girl, Harry?"

"This doesn't go farther than ourselves?" Harry asked seriously.

"I swear by the honorable name of Gryffindor that all that's said here is to remain between us" Lavender vowed.

This oath wasn't the standard magical oath, but a specific version of it called a House Oath. Every house had their own and when they used the vow they only used it when it was serious and only with other members of their house. There were consequences to breaking the oath though not as dire as breaking an actual magical oath. If you broke a House Oath then it could be a temporary house shunning to a full one. Everyone in the house would know an oath had been broken even if they weren't there to witness it. And they were compelled to obey it. The only way to resolve it was if both parties come to some agreement in the end.

"Well I think I like smart girls" Harry began, "I haven't really thought about it too much since I've been busy really. But my first crush was Cho and say what you want about her personality I think I was drawn to her because she was smart."

"And pretty" Lavender chipped in with a grin.

"Yeah, and that" Harry muttered as he took a sip from his drink, "but I think being smart has something since Hermione's my best friend. I've never had those kinds of feelings for her ever. But it's something. Plus I've heard that my mom was quite smart and my dad was attracted to that. So maybe it's in my genes."

"Maybe" Lavender said with a shrug.

Harry didn't even spare a glance at Lavender's shrug that made her chest jiggle wonderfully.

"So that's it?" she asked.

"I guess. I don't have much experience with girls really" Harry said.

That was the truth. There was the Yule Ball, but that didn't turn out very well. He went with Parvati though for her the night wasn't anything really special. Harry ended up ignoring her the whole night. He did apologize to her later though. So he saved face in the end. He had one disastrous date with Cho in his fifth year and in his sixth he did date Ginny, but broke up with her at end of the year. That relationship was his longest, but even Harry would admit that it didn't feel fully right. Like he was living his life, but not living it.

"Well if you need any help let me know" Lavender said.

"I will, and thanks Lav" Harry said.

Lavender smiled.

The two lounged enjoying the sun and surf. Neither really caring about the world outside just a little while.

/Scene Break/

The two celebrated Christmas which was small since it was just the two of them, but they had a great time.

Though Lavender didn't know anything about Harry's past she encouraged and enjoyed how child like Harry was at Christmas. They played and frolicked all day.

Lavender couldn't remember the last time she had so much fun. Laughing and smiling all day. She was exhausted by the end of it, but it felt so good too. Better than an overpowered cheering charm.

On New Year's there was fireworks that Harry had gotten from the Weasley twins. They were spectacular to view in the open dark sky. Intricate shapes of creatures like dragons, hippogriffs to even splashes of advertisements for the twins' joke shop.

It was a somber day when the two had to leave the island though the day was quite sunny and bright. They used a portkey to get back, back to their lives.

/Scene Break/

"So Lavender, what was it like being with Harry?" Parvati asked.

"It was…" Lavender started then paused as she collected her thoughts. "It was fun, relaxing. I don't think I've ever had a better break."

"That's good and all, but details. Details girl" Parvati said with eager anticipation.

"Parv" Lavender said in a serious tone, "there's some stuff we talked about that I will never talk about. I promised Harry not to and I won't break it."

Parvati frowned, but understood.

"Fine, what can you tell?" she asked.

Lavender grinned as she began to tell her best friend all about the island she was on knowing how envious her friend will be.

End

A/N: so what did you think of this. I pretty much made it up around the fact I wanted to have Lavender say she faked it when she was with Ron. The line popped up in my head and I knew I had to use it, but there wasn't anything I was writing at the moment that would fit in, so I had to write this. Sorry for ending it like this. Just couldn't think of anything more to add. Thanks for reading and please review.
