His mother had always referred to his eyes as emeralds. In truth they were more like two globs of moss or mushed up peas, but he had always appreciated the sentiment.
When Beast Boy thought of emeralds, he thought of green oceans or large expanses of grassland. He thought of shimmering scales and Starfire's Starboltz. He thought of Elasti-Girls earrings when she would cuddle up with him during a film. And he thought of his fathers' eyes.
It had been the only positive thing he had forced himself to take from his 'new' appearance. He had lost his mother's eyes, and instead had gained a murky version of his fathers'.
He had always held his father in high regard. Mark had been a man of truth and wisdom, and he had been a loving father, right up until the end.
So while he had never agreed with his mothers assessment, he still thoroughly loved it.
