"I'm sorry, what?" Kouyou hadn't been sure if she had heard that right. Was Dazai honestly planning on taking Chuuya out of this place, and in this terrible condition? He must have been insane. This was no time to be moving him around. He needed to rest. Before she could even continue to speak, Dazai had turned toward her with a rather serious expression.
"This was my plan from the moment I brought him back, Kouyou. I forgot that you weren't around when I threatened Mori with this plan. He knows I have every intention of taking Chuuya away from this place, but I don't know if he thinks I'm dead serious or not. However, that foolish thinking is on him because I meant what I said. Tachihara was aware of my plan as well and he's going to help me." Dazai's tone was completely serious along with the look in his dark brown eyes. Seeing that particular look...Kouyou knew there would be no talking him out of it, but that didn't mean she was okay with it.
"You're putting both of your lives at risk. This is completely reckless and unnecessary. Does he even want to go with you, Dazai?" Kouyou asked as she watched the brunette detached Chuuya from the machines he was hooked to. She watched him carefully, noticing that the smaller male looked rather calm despite not knowing who Dazai was. Were they still in some kind of sync despite his memories being gone?
"He does want to go with me. I've already asked him and he gave me his consent to take him away. He doesn't like the fact that he works for Mori. If anything, it freaks him out so there's no reason to force him to stay here." Dazai kept his tone rather calm but it was still just as serious. Once he detached the last iv from Chuuya's body, he shrugged off his tan colored coat and placed it around the ginger's smaller form. It was pretty large on him, but it would keep him covered since the hospital gown wasn't exactly...decent. Not to mention he was really just looking for an excuse to put his oversized coat around Chuuya's smaller form. It was rather adorable, but there was really no time to be eyeing him like this.
"I understand that Mori can be...a bit of a handful, but that doesn't mean you can just up and take him like that! It could cause him to execute you. You would be seen as taking a hostage or something." Kouyou responded, her hand clenching tightly around the parasol she was still holding.
"Now Ane-san." Dazai glanced toward the female, putting a rather innocent smile on his face. "Since when have I ever cared about possibly dying? Especially when I'm trying so many different ways to end it all!"
That response, she should have expected it. Dazai always had that strange obsession with suicide, and if she were to be honest, it concerned her. However...she did notice that obsession fading slightly once he and Chuuya had become partners, although it was back now and more irritating than ever. She let out a sigh, bringing her free hand up to rest against her head. She honestly didn't know what to do with these boys. They were definitely a pair though, a rather terrifying one.
When he didn't get a response, Dazai turned his attention back to the smaller male, who was now clutching the coat that had been placed around him. How fucking adorable. Maybe having Chibi's memories gone wasn't such a bad thing. He was much cuter this way...but regardless of that, it still didn't feel right. Smiling slightly, Dazai's arms came out, one wrapping behind Chuuya's shoulders and the other tucking under his legs. "Up we go, Chibi! Hold on!" He let out a small laugh as he carefully lifted the ginger's small body into his arms. Damn, he was really light...lighter than usual. Not only that, but once Dazai had lifted Chuuya up, he noticed something he didn't ever think he would see on the other's face, at least not caused by him. There was a hint of red coating Chuuya's cheeks, almost as if he were...blushing.
"I-I can walk on my own!" Chuuya tried to proteste, only making the blush on his face worse. Dammit...he was too fucking cute, and it wasn't even in his personality! Dazai had to keep telling himself that this wasn't his Chuuya. His Chuuya would be flailing, kicking, and cursing up a storm right about now, not lying there obediently.
"No no! We have to move quickly and you're much too injured to be walking on your own. You get a free ride today while Tachihara and I make our way out of this place. So be a good boy and try to be quiet for me, okay?" Dazai asked in his usual teasing tone. It was the one he always used against Chuuya, and if he were to be honest, he was hoping for some kind of backlash, but he was disappointed when he saw Chuuya sulk back and nod his head.
"Fine fine…" Chuuya mumbled softly as he placed his arms around Dazai's shoulders in order to hold on better. This definitely felt weird, but he knew this guy was right. If he had been unconscious for roughly a month, the muscles in his legs probably wouldn't want to work, not to mention Mori had said they needed to start him on some kind of walking therapy or whatever. Sighing in defeat, Chuuya ended up resting his head against Dazai's shoulder, allowing his blue eyes to fall closed.
"I honestly don't like seeing him so obedient like that. I miss when he would yell at you and call you a bastard or something." Tachihara chuckled softly as he pulled two pistols from what seemed like out of nowhere. After checking to make sure they were loaded, he turned toward Kouyou, who still didn't look like she was okay with them doing this. "Are you going to stand in our way, or do you want what's best for him?"
That question caught her off guard. Of course she wanted what was best for Chuuya, just like she had wanted what was best for Kyouka. That weretiger...he had shown her the light and brought her happiness when she was trapped in the darkness. As much as she missed that girl, she had finally seen her truly smiling after so very long, and maybe Dazai could do the same for Chuuya. Ever since the brunette had left the Port Mafia, she had noticed that Chuuya seemed more down, but of course he denied it if he was ever asked about it. Maybe he could bring the ginger the happiness he needed, give him the comfort he deserved, and maybe keep him safe from himself.
"Very well… if you insist on taking him away from this place, then I won't stand in your way. He doesn't need to be here, especially with his memory being all fuzzy." Kouyou sighed softly, stepping aside so the two could make their escape. "Just remember...Tachihara, since you're helping him, you may be seen as a traitor to the Port Mafia. You could be kicked out, or even executed. Are you sure you want to help him?"
"What kind of a question is that? If I didn't want to help him escape, I wouldn't be standing here with my guns in my hand, ready to shoot anyone who may get in my way. I won't kill anyone in the Port Mafia, I'll just wound them." Determination was burning in his amber colored eyes. Chuuya was like a brother to him, and he was sick of him ending up in states like this. He was strong, but he could only be strong for so long. If aiding in getting Chuuya out of here made him an enemy to the Port Mafia then so be it… even if that meant he may end up never seeing Gin again.
"What will you say to Gin?" Kouyou asked, almost as if she had known what he was thinking about. The mention of his comrade got him to soften his gaze. She may have been an assassin, but she had a good heart and he trusted her with his life.
"She's just as worried about Chuuya as I am. She'll understand why I helped him get away, even if this ends up meaning I won't get to say goodbye to her, it's fine. Since she's an assassin, they might send her to take me out, and I would gladly let her put me to my death." It pained him to say that, but he would never fight back against her. If anything, her hands were the ones he wanted to be killed by if he was seen as a traitor.
"Alright then...if you boys are going, then you should get moving. Just because Mori isn't taking any kind of action doesn't mean he won't start if he sees you leaving with him." Kouyou said as she motioned toward the door. Time wasn't exactly on their side right now, but if they continued to just stand around, it would only risk the others being alerted.
"Ane-san. I promise I'll let you see him again. This will not be the last time." Dazai gave her a reassuring smile as he tightened his grasp on the seemingly sleeping ginger. He would make sure this wouldn't be the last time Kouyou saw Chuuya.
"Dazai, we need to get moving before anyone gets suspicious." Tachihara said as he stood by the doorway, glancing down the hallway to ensure that no one was coming yet. At the moment, they were in the clear, but if Mori saw them moving on the cameras, it could end in an instant. Hearing Tachihara's words, Dazai nodded his head slightly. After giving Kouyou one last smile, he hurried out of the room along with the other ginger.
As she watched them go, Kouyou couldn't stop tears from forming in her eyes. She was worried to death for their safety, but if anyone could pull this off, it would be Dazai. Not only that, but he had Tachihara, one of the members of the Black Lizard, assisting him with the escape. Still, she had her doubts. Since Dazai was carrying Chuuya, they would have to rely on Tachihara a lot more, and she knew he only had a limited number of bullets on him. If he ran out of ammunition before they got out, it would end right there. She didn't think that Dazai would even be able to get out of this one if they were caught. The only one who wouldn't be punished would be Chuuya. With the state he was in, he would literally just look like a hostage or something.
"You two...you better not screw this up. Take him far away from this place…" She spoke softly, shifting her scarlet gaze to the ground.
In the hallways, Dazai and Tachihara were moving as quickly as possible to head toward one of the back exits. They were hoping to take the closest one possible, but if that failed, Dazai was sure they would figure something out. At least he hoped they would. His tactical decisions had never failed him, nor had his predictions.
He had already predicted that they would be caught, at least twice. There would be some injuries, but they would manage to make it out. As long as Chuuya didn't get hit, he was positive that he and Tachihara could handle it. It would just be grunts that were sent after them anyways. Mori wouldn't waste his best men on an attempt like this.
"Tachihara. Be ready. Once we round this corner, we're going to have our first interruption. Do not hesitate, take them all down!" Dazai commanded, only to see the ginger nod, showing that he understood. He couldn't exactly answer with words because he was getting into focus. His goal was to not kill anyone, just wound them enough that they couldn't be a nuisance anymore.
"Here we go, Dazai! Let's get the fuck out of here!" Tachihara finally exclaimed just as he rounded the corner, guns held high. Sure enough, there were at least twenty grunts waiting for them, keeping their path blocked. They seemed surprised to see one of their own assisting Dazai, but they had their orders.
"Target spotted! Fire!" One of them shouted out, followed by the others shouting in unison. Within seconds, shots were fired, echoing through the hallways followed by the sound of agonizing screams. While Dazai stayed back, keeping Chuuya close to his body, Tachihara continued to open fire on the grunts before them, shooting them in spots that wouldn't kill them, but would definitely make them unable to get back up.
Somehow, throughout the entire fight, Tachihara had managed to remain unharmed. Once the final man went down, the ginger glanced over his shoulder, having a rather wild look in his amber colored eyes. He often got like this during a gunfight, so it was no surprise to see him looking so...feral. Grinning widely, he motioned for Dazai to follow him through the doors. With their first wave cleared, they were going to have at least one more to get through before reaching the exit they needed.
"Be prepared...the next group won't be as easy as the first."
Hi everyone! Chapter six is out and look at that, Kouyou let them go! Also, does anyone else love the idea of Tachihara with that wild look in his eyes whenever he gets in a gunfight? Ugh, he is baby and deserves the world! Will they make it through the next wave? Guess you'll be finding out next time! Thank you guys so much for reading and for the support! I'll see you next time! Bye for now!
