Heart Skipped A Beat

Tumblr prompt: Character A tries to send a sexy snap to character B to remind them of them. it accidentally goes to character C instead.

"So, where are we going?" Meredith says flirtatiously, as she leans down onto Addison's shoulder.

"Meredith, I have to confess something," Addison says nervously as she twirls her hair with her fingers.

"What? You don't have a super-secret second husband I have to worry about, right?" Meredith asks her half-jokingly.

"Oh no, nothing like that," Addison smiles sheepishly.

"Oh, then what?" Meredith asks her.

"Well, you see, I didn't originally think it was you that I was Snapchatting," Addison finally reveals to the blonde.

"What?" Meredith asks in confusion.

"I originally thought I was sending those things to Mark, my ex-" Addison bites her lip guiltily.

"So you were sexting me as if I were your ex!?" Meredith's eyebrows raise in alarm.

"Well, yes…" Addison nods at her.

"This is kind of unbelievable," says Meredith.

"It is. It seriously is. I thought I was going to show up here tonight to see a tall man who'd proposition me for a trans-continental booty call that I'd probably regret in the morning," says Addison shyly.

"I can see why he'd do that for you though," says Meredith. "I mean, you're kinda smokin' you know," she teases.

"Thanks, Mer," says Addison.

"It's okay, I have my own confession to make," says Meredith.

"Yeah?" Addison asks her.

"I was too nervous to ask you out tonight, so Cristina stole my phone and texted you to meet me," says Meredith.

"So essentially Cristina asked me out while I thought I was being asked out by Mark?" Addison summarizes.

"Yup pretty much," says Meredith.

"Our life is so weird," says Addison, as she leans in to take Meredith's hand into her own.

"It sure is," says Meredith.

"I mean, given who we were to each other this shouldn't work at all, but I like you. I started really liking you. I even started to feel guilty about Snapchatting fake-Mark because I wanted to be talking to you," says Addison.

"Awe," says Meredith. "My friends almost figured it out before I did. They kept teasing me about messaging McDreamy again. They're so gonna get a kick out of this," says Meredith.

"So, now that all of the cards are out on the table… Do you actually want to go out on a real date with me, Meredith?" Addison says shyly.

"Absolutely," says Meredith. And for the first time in weeks, both of them reach to turn their phones off, because they know for sure that the person they want to talk to is finally right there beside them.
