"INCOMING!" Spawn yelled as he slammed into the group of Parademosn with a fist of Necroplasm, that blew the Parademosn away while his cape protected the small family the Parademons were trying to either kill or abduct. Once they were far gone, Spawn turned his gaze to the family. "You guys okay?"
"Y-Yes!" The father nodded, holding a crying six month old baby while the mother hugged her son and daughter who had to have been five or 7 years old. "Thank you!"
Nathan nodded and was about to leave but the two kids ran up and hugged his legs, startling him a little before he crouched down and patted their shoulders. "Stay safe, kids." He looked at the parents. "Get yourselves and the kids somewhere safe and stay hidden until this is all over. I'll go handle the suckers down the street."
"Thank you!" The father thanked him again and took his family away to hide while Nathan turned to the Parademons who snarled and started to surround him.
"You obviously do not know..." Nathan began calmly as his cape thrashed like a wild animal and his chains moved. "...who you are FUCKING WITH!"
With that said his chains lashed out and impaled each and every Parademon around him. Nathan growled as he clenched his fists before sending pulses of Necroplasm blasts through the chains and into the Parademons who ended up blowing up as the Necroplasm hits them, sending blood and their insides everywhere. Nathan ignored the blood on him and the gore, shaking some of it off his cape and shoulder.
Nathan heard explosions downtown and he could make out a green wall construct that obviously meant Green Lantern was up to something, he then saw a large tornado of water blow right of the sea and quickly began making his way in the direction of it. He spotted a motorcycle and picked it up, letting out a surprised sound when seeing the keys were still in it.
"Well, guess it's mine then." Nathan chuckled as he got on, started the motorcycle up then drove off down the street towards where he hopes this world's heroes were. Nathan spotted them up ahead, Superman, Wonder Woman, Batman, The Flash, Green Lantern, and Aquaman. He spotted a Parademon flying in their direction so he leaped off the motorcycle, tackled the Parademon, ripped it's head off in mid air and landed in a roll near the surprised heroes. Well, Superman, Flash, Green Lantern, and Aquaman were surprised at his sudden entrance, Batman had the infamous narrowed eyes, and Wonder Woman grinned when seeing him.
"And that was without even a single drop of rum." Nathan quoted before he tossed the Parademon's head away.
"Well met, Spawn." Wonder Woman said as she approached the Hellspawn.
"I learn from the best there is." Nathan smirked.
"And they must be proud" Dina said, giving him a small smile.
"Yeah…they are" Nathan said with a nod as he returned her gaze for a moment and for a brief second, he felt something just like he did all those years ago when he first saw her and if what he was seeing was real, so was she
Suddenly the sound of Green Lantern coughing loudly interrupted the two's moment and both turned to see the glowing man glaring at them, or more specifically Nathan.
'Hal, you never change, do you?' Nathan almost chuckled at his friend's usual attitude. He looked at the tower where dozens of Parademons were either flying around it or taking people into it. He then turned towards the other heroes. "So who's in charge here?"
"I am." batman said, getting a scoff from Green Lantern.
"Give me a break." Green Lantern rolled his eyes
Aquaman looked at the large tower, narrowing his eyes and rubbing his chin. "I've got some experience with leadership. I'm the rightful heir to the throne of Atlantis. I'm their king."
"And I'm the mayor of the Emerald City" Green Lantern said sarcastically.
Aquaman ignored his remark. "The demons are taking people to that tower."
"Hmm, then we;ll need to find a way inside of it." Spawn added as he looked at the swarm of Parademons around the tower. "But we;ll need to draw away the pigeons guarding it or else we'll have a tougher time getting in."
Nathan and Aquaman looked at each other then at Green Lantern. "We'll need a lure." The King of Atlantis said.
"Why are you looking at me?" Green Lantern asked with worry and concern.
"Well, you're shiny and bright, you don't seem the type who shuts up and loves to piss people off. Why don't you go over to them, and do the same?" Spawn smirked underneath his mask. "Just a few words from you and they'll be right on you."
Aquaman smirked at Spawn's words "He's right, you can use that opportunity to lure them away from that tower and give us a shot to infiltrate it."
Green Lantern glared and approached the duo, his ring glowing brightly and poked Aquaman's chest "Hey, I'm not a fish Aquafresh. So don't order me around like one."
"You are pretty shiny." Flash said as he appeared inbetween the three before any of them, likely Lantern, can start a fight.
"You're supposed to be on my side Flash." Green Lantern said with a glare at the Speedster. "We've already got one wannabe super-human trying to boss us around." Lantern made a glowing arrow and pointed it at a scowling Batman which caused Spawn to chuckle."We don't' need another or his Batman-knockoff friend."
"Batman-knockoff? Are you serious?" Spawn scoffed. "Quit your bitching, Lantern."
"I'm not bitching!" Lantern rounded on Spawn and jabbed a thumb over at Superman "Superman might not say a lot, but he can fly and juggle trucks-"
"And?" Spawn asked with a scoff. "Anybody could do that if they had superhuman strength."
"Lantern glared at the man for interrupting him before he continued "Well, the Flash is the fastest man alive-"
"Explains the no girlfriends thing." Nathan smirked. He loved making that joke when he met Barry the first time back in his old reality.
"And here's the jokes." Flash sighed, having heard the same damn jokes in Central City.
"Wonder Woman there, she can slice through an army of these things and me?" Lantern said as he got right in Spawn's face with his ring glowing, causing Wonder Woman to narrow her eyes at the man and slowly reach for her sword. "I can do anything with this ring! So, what can this fish stick do that we can't!?"
"Has a better attitude for one." Spawn muttered before saying. "You better get out of my face before-"
He was interrupted when suddenly they heard numerous cries of 'For Darkseid' and saw dozens of Parademons flying towards them all. The group of heroes tensed and prepared for the onslaught when Aquaman ran ahead of them and held a hand to his head and stared at the water with deep concentration. It took a few seconds for Nathan to recognize what the ruler of Atlantis was doing and smirked
'Fasten your seatbelts, Hal...you are about to see what Aquaman can do.'
Large shadows started rising in the water before suddenly almost a dozen large great whites erupted from the water and began to tear into the Parademons with a sort of primeval rage. The rest aside from Spawn and Batman were taken back by the aquatic attack, Batman because nothing really surprises him or he keeps it well hidden from others, Spawn because he's seen what Aquaman can do from his own reality's version of the King of Atlantis.
The heroes saw one lone Parademon make it through and continue it's charge…
Only for Aquaman to ram his trident into it's skull and tear off it's head and kick the body back into the water where a large shark quickly devoured it. The aquatic hero silently turned towards Green Lantern with a raised brow
Hal blinked before he looked away "Never mind…"
Spawn then saw more Parademons coming towards them. "Heads up, guys, we have a welcoming party."
The assembled group of heroes quickly engaged the horde of Parademons and used their respective abilities and skills to counter the alien soldiers. During this time Nathan saw a Parademon sneaking up behind Diana and quickly sent a chain past her and nailed the alien in the eye, causing it to roar in pain before Diana turned and kicked the snarling beast away
Diana looked at him and gave a nod of thanks that he returned before he went back to fighting. He wrapped his chains around a Parademon and threw it into the air for Batman to jump and dropkick it in the chest. The two ended up back to back, causing them to look at each other briefly before they started fighting the Parademons.
"Bats, heads up!" Spawn yelled as he propelled a running Parademon to Batman who just clotheslined it. Spawn got to his feet when suddenly he heard what sounded like military choppers. He looked up just in time to see the military fire down on them and the Parademons. "You gotta be kidding me!" Spawn used his cape to cover himself.
Green Lantern erected a shield for him and Batman to take cover behind while Superman let the projectiles slam into his nearly indestructible skin and Wonder Woman took to deflecting the bullets with her bracelets.
"We have to shut them down." Superman said as he glared at the military craft.
"Shut them down?" Flash said in confusion.
"Superman, they're U.S. soldiers, not aliens." Nathan grunted as he smashed a piece of debris onto a Parademon then used it as a shield from the bullets while stomping his boot into another Parademon's face.
"They're men who are shooting at us." Superman stated like it was obvious.
"They're only doing their jobs." Flash said with a hard look.
"Least they ain't nuking the place, Government always resorts to that." Nathan said as he ripped a Parademon's head off and used it as a boxing glove to punch a few more Parademons in the face.
You two seem like people who want to do the right thing." Superman said as he began to rise into the air and head for the choppers. "But the same can't always be said for everyone in positions of authority." The Man of Steel than shot off towards the military aircraft
"What a dick..." Nathan muttered. Most powerful man on Earth and he happens to be a dick, and bit more broodier than Batman for God's sake!
Nathan looked at Flash. "Go make sure he doesn't kill somebody."
"Oh man…" Flash sighed as he rubbed his head in frustration "The army is gonna be so mad at me."
Spawn let out a sigh of relief when the gunfire ended and he tossed the body of a Parademon aside just as Wonder Woman commented. "We need to get those men out of the helicopters and somewhere safe."
Green Lantern landed next to her as he shot a beam at another Parademon. "I'll get them out of the choppers and to safety. Not to be a good guy like Flash but because I want to impress you. Most of what I do is about impressing people" Green Lantern said and completely destroyed any new found respect Spawn might've had for him.
"You're hopless, Lantern." He sighed.
Wonder Woman narrowed her eyes at Green Lantern. "Your touching my Lasso." She pointed out."
"So?" Green Lantern asked.
"It makes people tell the truth."
Green Lantern froze at that and went wide eyed while Nathan burst out laughing and he was so damn sure he heard Batman chuckling as well.
Hal didn't find it funny as he glared at the two of them. "Are you two seriously laughing?! At a time like this?!"
"Yes." Spawn said as his chains lashed out and impaled multiple Parademons in one go before he swung them away like throwing garbage bags away into a dumpster.
Suddenly, a Boom Tube opened up and a large metallic figure came out that, one that Nathan recongised.
'Cyborg!' Nathan thought as he planted a Necroplasm covered hand over a Parademon's face, causing it to screech as it was burned and killed.
"I got this one!" Green Lantern shouted as he grabbed Cyborg with a hand shaped construct and lifted him in the air
"Hold your fire Lantern. It's not one of them!" Batman said, seeing that it wasn't another one of the aliens they've been fighting
"What are you talking about?" Lantern gave the dark knight a look of confusion while he slowly lowered the metal man
When Cyborg was released from Lantern's construct he fell to the ground in a huff. Aquaman was at his side in an instant to check him over "It's just a kid wearing armor" the ruler of Atlantis said.
"No, he is the armour, Aquaman." Spawn corrected him as he walked towards the young man with Wonder Woman beside him.
"Who are you? Do you need help?" Wonder Woman asked as she knelt beside the large cybernetic individual.
Cyborg looked up at them and weakly said. "They go world to world…He's coming…right here…"
'Oh no...' Nathan's eyes widened, knowing there's only one being that could come after the Parademons, and who fit the description Cyborg just gave.
"Who is?" Batman questioned the man with narrowed eyes and a sense of unease.
PING!
The heroes looked upon hearing that sound and a boom tube started opening as Flash and Superman returned.
'Here comes the big boss.' Nathan thought with dread in his stomach as a Boom Tube opened before the eight heroes and caused them all to tense as a large figure made his way through.
Nathan felt an old feeling of dread and fear that could only come from being in the presence of the ruler of Apokolips himself...
Lantern narrowed his eyes at the large being and tensed for a fight. "Guess that's the big bad guy?"
"Good guess." Batman said as he analyzed the new foe, looking for any possible weaknesses.
The large figure stared at them all for a moment before he sent out a sort of pulse from his body that sent them all flying back. Nathan quickly grabbed Diana and wrapped his arms and cape around her as he took the crashing impact.
"Spawn!" Diana shouted in worry for her new friend.
The dark god of Apokolips smirked at the state of this world's heroes before proclaiming loudly.
"I...AM...DARKSEID!"
Darkseid has entered the battle everyone. Can the heroes stop the invasion of Darkseid?
