Hanzo was led towards the small room, his eyes landing on the bruised older man in front of him. Danzo's right eye could barely open, still swollen from the beating Sasuke had given him. His lip was split, cheekbones swollen and tainted black and purple.

"Wow!" he said, "that kid really did beat the shit out of you,"

Danzo didn't say anything to that, sitting quietly with his hands cuffed to the side of the table. Hanzo sat across from him.

"Why the hell did you shoot the pregnant Uchiha girl? Wasn't your daughter there?!"

"I could have," Danzo finally said, "But Rin needs to see the ugly side of that family. She's been manipulated by that Uchiha boy. She will now see how much they'll hate her and throw her to the side,"

Hanzo switched the topic, discussing the more important matters. "I spoke to my brother, and he told me something that may not be good for us,"

"What?"

"Over a month ago, some kid and his dog found some bones… Not too long after that, they stumbled upon a suitcase…"

Danzo's expression turned that of shock, and he got up even though he was still handcuffed to the table.

"Why the hell am I hearing about this now!?"

"Because I found out yesterday. My brother told me that the suitcase was missing from where he had hidden it. That stupid secretary showed that Orochimaru guy where it was-"

"I need that fucking thing burned! Burned to the ground!"

"Well, you should've done that years ago!" Hanzo yelled back, "Now all of our asses are on the line!"

"I...I was in a rush…" Danzo said nervously, remembering the blood on his hands as he had tried to cover it all up.

"Oh well, too fucking late," Hanzo said, standing up, "I was able to trace a call from the police station to her phone. Either she knows about it, or is about to-"

"Already?!"

"And I am about to do whatever I can to stop her from knowing more," Hanzo then stood closer to the injured man, whispering dangerously, "You know a lot of us could be going to jail for good if your daughter continues what your bitch of a wife was going to do,"

Danzo gulped, "You're going to kill my daughter, aren't you?"

Hanzo, who was already by the door, only turned around and smirked before exiting the room. Alone in the dark room, Danzo closed his eyes and thought about the last couple of breaths Misako took.

The detective looked nervous, staring wide-eyed as the woman glared up at them from the ground. Her bloodied face showed no signs of distress or pain. Instead, it showed determination as she laid on the ground.

"...Y-You...w-will all… go to hell…" she said, coughing up blood, "I will...make sure… of that… One way or a-another… I will guide my angel to bring you all down…"

Angel… The detective knew that she was referring to her daughter, Rin. He looked at Danzo, who stood with an angry expression while holding a rock in his hand. Should he stop him? He wanted to. What this man was about to do would cross the line indefinitely. Nonetheless, that meant keeping this woman alive… and this woman knew a lot. Somehow, she knew more than they had realized. She needed to go.

Danzo must've read his mind, since he crawled over the woman and brought the rock down to her face.

Worried that there could be more than one shooter, Fugaku Uchiha hired several security personnels to watch the floor of Izumi's room. Especially after it became known that the gun used belonged to Tobirama Senju. If his fans were so upset at the man losing, what other crazy thing could they do?

Izumi had recently woken up from the caesarean section, demanding where her baby was.

"He is in the NICU," the head doctor had replied.

Shortly after, the young mother went back to sleep, her body still exhausted.

"You have a car?" Rin asked, and Anko nodded with a wide smile.

"Yup! I got it last week for super cheap! It's not the fanciest. The AC semi-works, the back doors actually don't lock… Hmm, let's see… There's a small crack by the windshield, but it takes me from point A to point B,"

Rin could only appreciate that. While yes, it wasn't the fanciest car (there were bumps by the back, and the paint was coming off from the top), it still showed how free Anko was. She had lived in an abusive home as a child, but was now able to afford her own place and vehicle. She was not tied to any man to take care of her. Rin could only appreciate that.

The girls got inside the vehicle and drove away.

The Uchihas looked up as the doctor walked into the private lounge, meeting their curious eyes. The girl's husband, Itachi, approached her.

"How is she? The baby?"

"They are both doing fine. The bullet missed all vital organs for both the baby and the mother,"

There were loud gasps of relief, Fugaku hugging his older son tightly as the man tried not to become emotional.

"When can I see them?" Itachi asked.

"The baby must be kept in the NICU, and unfortunately you cannot visit him just yet. However, Izumi is wide awake and talking. I see no harm in seeing her now,"

Itachi followed the doctor towards the room where Izumi stayed, and the rest of the Uchihas stayed back. All of them had a look of relief on their faces.

"I cannot wait to see our grandson," Mikoto said, placing her head on her husband's shoulder as she wiped tears of joy away. Fugaku nodded, placing a kiss on her forehead.

"The fact that the bullet didn't hit any vital organs is a miracle," Shisui said with a smile, "I...assumed the worse,"

"We all did," Fugaku said quietly before turning his attention to the quiet Uchiha leaning against the wall, "Has Rin reached out to you yet?"

"No," Obito replied.

"Maybe you can tell her later about the good news," Mikoto suggested, "Part of me wonders how she must be feeling,"

"So that was her father, huh?" Shisui asked, and Fugaku nodded.

"Yes. Some of us knew how unstable the man was… We just didn't know to what extent he would go. And it seems like Rin had no idea he was going to show up?"

Obito sighed tiredly. He was still experiencing a hangover. "Rin stopped having any type of communication a while back, after he called her and threatened to hurt her. She used to give him money, since he can't work and has health issues. But that stopped after his threats, and she's been keeping a distance from him since,"

"What a sick man…" Mikoto murmured, shaking her head disapprovingly.

"Then how could he have known about the party?" Fugaku thought out loud.

"Better question - how was he able to get past security?" Shisui said.

Obito chose to remain quiet, his head aching as he thought about Rin. It felt strange not hearing her soft voice. He missed her terribly and knew that they had a lot to discuss once he got home. He felt guilty talking to her in such a way last night. The last thing he wanted was to treating her the same way her father did.

The radio in Anko's car worked great, even though only one car speaker worked. Nonetheless, Anko played some soft music (compared to the occasional rock hits) in order to help ease her friend's mind. Even though Rin was quiet, leaning against the side of the car, Anko knew that she must've had a lot in mind. Between her father shooting Izumi, to Obito's behavior, and now to an unexpected pregnancy, she couldn't imagine what Rin could be going through emotionally.

Merging onto the highway, Anko focused on the road in front of her. They weren't that far from the station. The loud noise of the roaring engine behind her grabbed her attention, and she narrowed her eyes at the large pick-up truck driving way too closely behind her.

"Just use another lane, asshole," Anko growled.

"What's wrong?" Rin asked, sitting up straight on the passenger seat.

"This idiot behind me is tailgating me for some reason,"

"Try moving to another lane? Maybe he'll drive away…"

Anko nodded and merged to the lane on her right, cursing as the truck did the same.

"What the actual fuck!?"

Rin's eyebrows furrowed as she looked at the truck behind them, confused as to why the person was following them. Her phone rang just then, and she picked it up immediately seeing Baki's name on the screen.

"Rin, when you get nearby call me. I want to bring you in from the side-"

"Baki, someone's following us,"

"Us? Who are you with? And who's following you?"

"My friend is driving me to the station. There's a black truck behind us. A pick-up truck. It's been following us for some time and - AH!"

Rin almost dropped her phone as Anko tried to keep her car steady.

"Rin?! Rin!? What just happened?"

"It's-" Rin stopped again as she felt her body go forward again, "It's bumping into us from behind,"

Baki cursed under his breath. This was not good. He quickly turned his attention to the secretary.

"Who here has a black truck!?"

"Wh-What?"

"Dammit, who here could own a black truck!? A pick up truck!?"

The woman thought for a few seconds before responding, "W-Well, no one… A-Actually, the previous detective's wife owns one-"

Baki grabbed his jacket and marched towards the door, glancing at Orochimaru. "Don't let anyone near that suitcase!"

"Where are you going?"

"I think the girl's in trouble,"

"What the fuck does this asshole want?!" Anko screamed loudly, trying her best to keep her old car steady.

"Rin, I am about to start driving towards you. Where are you?!"

Her brown eyes scanned the area for something common, "Um...we're by exit fifteen of the interstate. We just passed by the Local Express gas station. We're about five minutes away,"

"OK, I think I know where you are. You're only four miles from here. I will be there soon,"

"OK-"

"What the-!?"

The girls could only stare with wide eyes as the truck, no longer behind them, was now next to them. It moved a bit towards the right, bumping into Anko's much smaller vehicle. Even though the contact was small, it was enough to cause the small sedan to drift towards the right before eventually losing control.

Rin gasped as she held onto the seatbelt, feeling her body jerk around as her friend's car went downhill from its side before rolling. From that instance, everything became a blur for her as her body went left and right as the vehicle continued to roll before eventually hitting a tree and stopping. Its force caused her head to hit against the broken window, causing her to black out immediately.

Anko coughed, her neck and back hurting as she slowly opened her eyes. She breathed heavily as she looked around, watching as the hood of her car was heavily damaged. All windows were broken, and some of the airbags deployed.

Groaning, she turned her head and looked at her friend, whose bloodied head was leaning against the side of her now totaled vehicle.

"R-Rin?" she called out. She tried to lift her arm but groaned in pain when realizing that she couldn't move it.

"R-Rin?" she called again, and finally her friend groaned in response. Nonetheless, her friend's eyes were still closed and she wasn't moving.

"Hello?! Hello!?" there was a female voice calling them, and Anko turned her head towards a short dark-skinned woman. "Are you two OK?"

"Help us please," Anko pleaded, the pain in her right arm intensifying.

"I already called the ambulance! They will be here soon! Just hang on!" the woman said, just as the sirens were getting closer.

Anko nodded as she felt herself losing consciousness, "Th-Thank you… P-please tell them that my friend is pregnant…"

After Itachi visited Izumi alone, the rest of the Uchihas visited the young mother. Mikoto hugged the girl, kissing her forehead like a mother would to her child.

"You're all here," Izumi said, her eyes watery from the earlier tears she had shed.

"How are you feeling?" asked Shisui.

"Like I have the world's worst hangover? And considering it's been months since I last drank, times that hangover by three,"

"Well, looks like you and Obito have something in common today,"

Izumi slowly chuckled before turning her attention to the taller Uchiha, "You're hungover?"

Obito walked over to her, giving her a crooked smile, "I was so worried about you and the baby that I couldn't stop,"

"That's not good,"

"...I know,"

"Where's Rin?"

Obito sighed, "She's… at home. I'll call her soon to tell her the news,"

"Good," Izumi nodded slowly and didn't say anything else, a small awkward silence arising before Itachi chimed in.

"The doctor said that our child is doing better than expected, and we may be able to see him tonight,"

"I can't wait to see him," Izumi said, placing her hands on her now flatter stomach, "It feels strange not having him with me,"

"Soon enough, you'll hold him," Mikoto said reassuringly.

The family continued discussing the newly born Uchiha, and how he would be spoiled by everyone. Shisui would teach him how to bartend once he turned twenty-one, Obito would teach him how to fly a cessna, and Fugaku would teach him everything about the Uchiha business. Because one day, he would be representing the family.

"I just want to cuddle with my baby," Izumi said with a long sigh.

There was a small knock on the door, and Fugaku opened it to allow Madara in. Madara gave the young mother a smile upon seeing her awake and interactive.

"How are you feeling, Izumi?"

"Sad that I can't see my baby yet. But happy to have you all here,"

He nodded just as his smile slowly faded, "Sorry to be in a rush, but I actually need to talk to Obito outside for a few minutes. Something urgent just happened,"

They all nodded, and Obito followed his uncle outside. Madara closed the door, standing in the hallway with his nephew. Obito could tell that something was wrong, watching his uncle look down at the floor for a bit with his hands buried in his pockets. Eventually, Madara looked up and faced him. His face was serious.

"Obito, I just got a call from Baki… Rin and a friend of hers were in a car accident. They were heading towards the police station when a truck pushed her friend's car to the side. It rolled down the hill before hitting a tree-"

"Where is she!?" Obito asked, feeling heat flow through his body as he stared at his uncle with wide eyes.

"The ambulance should be here any minute- Obito, wait!"

Madara cursed under his breath as his nephew rushed downstairs, heading towards the emergency entrance of the large hospital.

"What's going on?" Fugaku asked, opening the door of Izumi's room.

"I just told him that Rin was in a car accident,"

"When?"

"Just now,"

"I'll follow him," Shisui said, running after his cousin.

Obito was on the first floor of the building within a minute, the adrenaline in his body rushing as he navigated around people and headed towards the emergency area of the hospital. Just as he reached the area, two stretchers were rushed inside. He recognized the purple hair that belonged to Anko. Her head was moving, which meant that she was still conscious. He then eyed the second stretcher, and he rushed towards it.

"Excuse me, sir! But-"

Obito ignored the woman as he looked down, his heart breaking at the sight of Rin's bruised face. There was blood on the side, making her hair stick to the side.

"Rin," he called, praying that she would open those beautiful brown eyes and look up at him. But there was nothing, and his eyebrows furrowed as he felt panic building up, "Rin, please open your eyes for me,"

He noticed her lips tremble, and her soft voice was heard in a very low whisper. "O..bi...to…"

"Sir, we need to get her into surgery right now! Move!"

One of the nurses roughly pulled him away before pushing the stretcher, leaving him wide eyed and frozen in his place.

"Obito!"

He turned towards Baki, who was walking over to him.

"Where's Madara?"

"What the fuck happened and why didn't you call me!?"

Baki's eyes narrowed at him, "There's a lot going on and I need to talk to your uncle now. I can explain to both of you what I know,"

Shisui arrived, seeing how the two stretchers were pushed into a large area divided by two large doors.

"Where's Rin?"

"They are taking her to surgery," Obito said angrily, "Shisui, call Madara down right now. We have urgent shit to talk about,"

Seeing the agitated expression on his cousin's face, Shisui asked no further questions and called his uncle. He kept a close eye on Obito as he spoke on the phone, seeing how he paced back and forth.

Madara arrived shortly afterwards, noticing how his older nephew seemed ready to blow up. This was not good.

"Shisui, go back upstairs and stay with the rest of the family,"

Once the younger nephew left, Madara walked over to one of the receptionists.

"Is there a place we can discuss in private?"

The woman, who blushed by the future governor's handsomeness (she did have a secret crush on him, of course), nodded and directed them towards an empty room.

"What have you found?" Madara asked, and Baki nodded as he started to speak.

"A while back, bones were found by a kid while walking his dog. A suitcase was later found. A suitcase with a missing wheel,"

The detail had Obito raising his head, but Baki ignored him and continued, "Orochimaru has been trying to perform forensics on them, but the police station have been interfering. Either making him fill out useless forms or placing the evidence in different rooms. When I found out that he was in town and that he was investigating the bones, I reached out to him for answers. Everything he told me then led me to believe that there was a possibility that the bones belonged to Rin's mother. He told me that the bones belonged to a female of medium height, and that female had a natural birth… meaning that she had given birth at some point. Then there was the suitcase that was found not too far from where the bones were, which was tampered with and moved to a different storage elsewhere. We were able to get the location from a secretary, and we retrieved the suitcase. I called Rin to come to the station and see it in order to verify that it belonged to her mother. But then...this happened and-"

"Why couldn't you just text her a picture?" Obito inquired.

"Because it's still evidence and I can't be sending pictures of evidence just like that! Remember, I am a private investigator. I cannot involve myself in the affairs of Konoha Police. Or else the media will spin it as Suna spying on Konoha's police affairs. And that wouldn't look good,"

"He's right," Madara said, agreeing with Baki's logic, "But what's even more worrisome is the tampering of evidence,"

Baki nodded, "Yes. And Madara, it's not just this case. I checked the previous detective's closet and a lot of the cases he closed without any trail of them being worked on. This problem is more than just Rin's missing mother,"

"There's something corrupt going on in that police station,"

"Agreed. The truck that caused the accident was a black pick-up truck. According to the secretary who led us to the suitcase, the ex-detective's wife owns a black pick-up truck. They must've known that we had the suitcase, and that Rin was on her way-"

Baki stopped as Obito punched the wall in anger, causing a dent on the drywall. Madara scolded his nephew.

"Obito, control yourself! This is not the time to be losing your cool-"

"How can I not!? Rin's been getting picked on by everyone and I haven't been able to protect her since! Instead, I made it worse last night by yelling at her! I've been wanting her to report her father for months now, but she preferred to leave him as is!"

"And that was probably a better decision," Baki said, knowing that his explanation would probably anger Obito even more. But he didn't care. Obito needed to hear things as they were. "The person who just pushed these girls down a hill is definitely tied to the police, and who knows how many more people are corrupt in there. I'm sure that person knows who she is, knows who her father is… and could be friends with him. They could've made her case for incriminating her father very hard, to the point that she would have to drop it entirely. And if she did, that meant that her father would be a free man and would have probably put his hands on her afterwards as retaliation,"

Obito remained silent, thinking back about the words he told her last night. The guilt he felt burned his chest, and he wanted nothing more but to sit by her side. Hold her hand and apologize. Not only did he fail to protect her once again, but he knew that he caused some of that pain too.

"Now that you're aware of everything, it is my recommendation that the state's general attorney gets involved as this affects multiple cases that were wrongly closed," Baki said.

"Yes, I will be meeting with Hashirama in two hours to discuss this. I trust him to make the best decision for starting an investigation into the entire police station in that area,"

"And then he will pass that to you?" Baki asked with a slight smile, "I saw that Tobirama stepped down,"

"Yeah, he actually called me right before you did. He wanted to know Izumi's condition and how he was going to investigate how Danzo got a hold of his gun,"

"I'm sure Danzo and a couple of others used his campaign for something sinister. But we'll know once we open that suitcase and get some answers from Danzo himself,"

Madara nodded before turning to Obito, "Calmed down now?"

His nephew ignored his question, "I'm going outside and wait to hear on Rin's condition,"

Without waiting for any of their responses, Obito left the room and headed towards the receptionist.

"Do you have any update on Rin Nohara?"

The woman checked her system and shook her head. "No recent update. Only that she's currently in surgery,"

Obito said nothing else, sitting on a chair and resting his elbows on his knees, staring at the floor underneath. His mind went through the last forty-eight hours and how all drastically changed. They were a happy couple, and everything had been set in motion for the next step. She had been preparing for graduation, and he had been doing research on the type of ring to buy her. But so much has changed, and Obito wasn't sure how to bring them pack to how they were. Baki explaining the full extent of police corruption made the words he told her last night worse. No matter how they tried to solve the case and find the truth, some didn't want her knowing anything. And they were willing to do everything in their power to ensure that.

Izumi didn't appreciate the secrecy, narrowing her eyes as she watched Shisui, Fugaku, Itachi, and Mikoto talking lowly. She was aware that something was very wrong, especially after hearing the way Obito screamed and ran away. There was only one thing that could cause that reaction in him, and that was Rin.

"What's going on?"

"You need to be resting," Itachi said, stopping her from sitting up.

"Then tell me what's going on!"

He sighed in defeat before explaining, "Rin was in a car accident… She's currently in this hospital undergoing surgery,"

"What happened?!"

"Some car hit her friend's car, and they rolled down a hill,"

"How bad is her condition?"

"That's still unclear,"

"Does it have to do with her dad getting arrested? Do you think someone's trying to hurt her on purpose?"

"That's what Madara insinuated," Fugaku stepped in, "I will be requesting the hospital to move her to the room next door once she's done with surgery, and adding one extra security personnel to this floor,"

Several hours passed before Obito was able to get an answer on Rin's condition. Madara and Baki had left previously in order to discuss the next steps on the investigation.

The nurse who had pulled him away previously explained her condition, the last piece in her notes causing him to almost tilt over.

"Her right arm was fractured in three different locations, so she will be using a cast for some time. She also hit the side of her head pretty hard. We performed an MRI, and luckily everything looks good. However, I am expecting her to have a concussion. We can prescribe her some medications for that. Aside from some scratches and swelling, she has no other injury. Lastly, her friend was saying how she was pregnant. We performed a blood test and there are traces of hcG in her system, so that test came out positive. Because it's so early in the pregnancy, it's hard to tell how this accident has affected it though. But that can be figured out with time and recovery. Any questions?"

Obito, who had stopped listening after being told that Rin was pregnant, only nodded slowly.

"Can I see her now?"

"Yes. She's sleeping, but yes you can see her now,"

"And her friend?"

"Her friend also has a broken arm, but she's actually doing better if I were to compare,"

"Good. I'll check in on her later,"

Obito followed the nurse towards Rin's room, feeling overwhelmed as he saw her sleeping state. Her forehead was wrapped in thick white bandages, and her right arm was enclosed in a thick cast. He grabbed a chair and sat next to her, careful to touch her soft cheeks. He then proceeded to lightly touch her stomach, feeling his eyes burn with tears as he thought about the little life growing inside of her. He closed his eyes and imagined a family with her. But the imagination had him sobbing, realizing that if couldn't protect Rin, how would he be able to protect their child?
