Chapter 36 – Han and Luke
Everyone in the Ewok Village started to looked at the sky, pointing at something and smiling.
"What is going on?" Han asked
"Well I think they are pointing at that?" Lando pointing in the sky. Han and Leia looked up and the saw the proposal Luke made to Ines
"Now we know why he took her. I have to say your brother knows how to propose" Han nod looking at Leia. It was still difficult to get used to the fact that Luke was Leia's brother and twin brother. How that happened? It was a story that with time he would know for sure.
Luke and Ines appeared and everyone clapped. Leia hugged Ines. The two friends, grew up together, and became best friends, like sisters and now they will be sisters for real.
The party continue, now they were also celebrating Luke and Ines engagement. As the night go on, little by little, everyone started to leave for a good night sleep. Ines had fall asleep earlier, the emotion of the day and the pregnancy made her very tired and Luke had carried her to their hut, where he lay her on the bed, and removing her boots, he covered her and stood there for a while watching her.
After a few minutes he went outside to find only Han there.
"I guess you can't sleep either?" Luke asked his friend, sitting next to him, who head a cup with some drink "What is this?"
"Don't know cause I don't understand them but it is not bad" Han said drinking it.
Luke looked at it and smell first.
"Bottles up" he said and drinking it, tasting it. Han was right, it was not bad.
"So kid, what now?"
Luke looked at him.
"We still have a lot of work to do Han. A lot of systems are celebrating, but we also know that others are still on the side of the empire. Still a lot of people out there faithful to the empire."
"Leia was saying exactly the same thing. Apparently they are heading to Coruscant, for a meeting. She is thinking that we need to be there. I'm sure they would want her as part of the senate"
"It makes sense. She was part of the senate before. After all with the empire down alongside with the emperor, I'm sure they would start a new republic and Leia will be part of the senate for sure"
Han nod. Luke was right.
"And you, what are your plans?"
Luke looked at the cup in his hands
"Well, I want to learn as much as I can about the Jedi. And well, no better place than Coruscant were the old Jedi Temple is. Then I plan to find force sensitive people and open the new Academy of Jedi Knights and Coruscant is the right place. Continue to teach Ines, maybe teach Leia too. And I also want to know more about my family, especially on my mother's side."
Han looked at Luke
"Leia told me about you two. How is that possible?"
Luke looked at Han. He was a great friend. He smiled when he remembered the day they met and they started with the wrong foot, but the fact that Han got his back the time they destroyed the first Death Star, that made their friendship grew up.
"Did Leia told you about who our father is?"
Han took another drink and nod.
"And?" Luke questioned him "What are your thoughts about that?"
"Look kid, I will not going to lie that I was shocked and surprised, but I know you two for 4 years, it is not that information that made me change my feelings for her or our friendship. When did you find out?"
"About my father, last year, in Bespin. He told me. About Leia, few days."
"You know what was the first thing it came into my mind when she told me you two were brother and sister?"
Luke looked at Han
"Please don't tell me. I have a feeling that I know exactly what you are about to say" Luke shook his head laughing
"You two kiss. How weird is that"
"First of all she kissed me, second we didn't know we were twins and third I wanted to kiss the other girl in the room, and I would have if 3PO didn't interrupt us"
"That droid has terrible timing I have to say" Han grunted it. "But speaking of which, I was worried when Leia came in the morning saying she was missing."
Luke sighed
"Don't even talk about it. I should I have know that my father would sense Ines and of course he would sense our child too."
"So they took her because she is pregnant. Because your child is like you two"
"He was the emperor back up. If I died they would have him." Luke looked at Han
"What the emperor would have done to her after she gave birth?" Han asked making Luke looked at the bonfire
"I don't know. And I don't want to imagine. The image on him touching her belly made my blood boiled, I have to say." Luke replied thinking of that moment.
"She is a big mouth but I like her"
Luke laughed
"She is the only one who deal with your sarcasm very well, I have to say. Since the beginning, remember that?"
Han laughed. He remembered the day he met them, 4 years ago in Tatooine.
"You two gave me a headache, you know."
"Leia did too." Luke smirked "Remember you said that you would be sorry of the guys who end up with them?"
Han started to laughed. He remembered that pretty well.
"Who knew uh?" he smiled
"You did. You knew I had a crush on Ines from the beginning. But I was not sure of my feelings. So when I met Nakari and started to have feelings for her, I thought that it was only crush I had for Ines. What Nakari and I had was true, we slept together a few times"
"But?"
Luke looked at Han
"But I couldn't get Ines off my head. I loved Nakari but I loved Ines too somehow. Then with Nakari's death, I didn't want to be involved with anyone. But Shira came along, but it was not the same thing. Now we know why?"
"And even hurt, Ines was one of the few who believed in your innocence. She didn't like Shira. Remember the confrontation between them?" Han asked.
Luke nod. He remembered a big fight the two had.
"Ines didn't like her and that day it was the first time I sense the force in Ines. I was shocked to know she was like me. And from that day, I thought of her more and more. When all the trouble after Shira calm down and when I was able to clear my name, I thought that it was better not to be involved with anyone" Luke looked at Han "But you were right my friend. The right girl was right in front of me all along. The month we spend in Hoth, I wanted to tell her I loved her, but she didn't talk to me. I needed a friend to open my eyes" he said patting Han shoulder
"I'm older than you Luke, but I've being in many relationships and I know when two people are in love with each other from the beginning and they simple don't admit that. I knew Ines loved you and you loved her since we were at Yavin 4. I thought you two would talk and be together and I was surprise when that didn't happen. Maybe you two need that to realize how much you loved each other."
"Look who is talking. You and Leia took 3 years to finally admit your feelings for each other too."
"Like brother like sister. I have to say" Han replied making Luke laughed
"I'm glad that you and Leia are together Han. There is no other man I would trust my sister to be with. But what is your plans about her. We are twins but I'm older"
Han shook his head.
"I don't know yet, Luke. I love Leia, I do. But our love is not like yours and Ines. We are still learning and going step by step. But I will go to Coruscant with you tomorrow and I plan to stay there with you. After all I will not miss that wedding"
Luke smiled
"That's right. I'm going to get married"
"When it will be?"
"Soon, pretty soon. Ines wants to marry before her belly gets to big, so maybe in a few months"
"I still can't believe you two are about to be parents. When I met her she was an 18 years old, good fighter, with a big mouth and now she will be a mother, caring the child of that whiny 19 years old farm boy that I met the same day"
Luke laughed hard at that remark
"Hey I couldn't imagine either, at that time. And I'm the father. We made him in our first night together"
"That's what I call bullseye kid" Han said making Luke laughed "You have a lot of stories to tell to your kid, after all he participate in the Alliance"
"And he rescued his uncle Han too"
Han smiled when he heard that
"Uncle Han? I like that." Han looked at Luke and pat his shoulder "That kid is lucky to have you and Ines as his parents"
"I'm the lucky one to have him and his mother" Luke smiled and stood up "I think it is time to get to sleep. Tomorrow we need to leave to Coruscant and meet Mon Mothma and Admiral Ackbar there"
"Good night kid and congrats" and the two friends hugged each other before Luke head to the hut.
Once he entered he smiled seeing Ines, who was sleeping. Sitting at the bed he removed his boots and the belt with his lightsaber, and got under the covers, facing her. Her breathing indicating she was in a deep and calm sleep. Getting closer to her, he wrapped his left arm around her waist and resting his head on the pillow he watched her for a while, before sleep got the best of him. It was a difficult day but for now he was with the one he wanted to be: his fiancé.
I think Han and Luke deserved a time alone, and talk about their friendship. Next time, they will move to Coruscant.
