Chapter 41
Louisa's point of view
I didn't even get enough time to register how fast Saturday dawned upon me. I guess my job at Will's mansion kept me preoccupied to a point that at times I would lose track of time.
It was Saturday. I was tying my hair in an elegant up-do at around 7:05pm in the evening; standing before a full-length mirror in my room. Will texted me earlier in the morning that he would come to pick me up at 7:30pm. I just had to make sure that I got ready well ahead of the time he specified.
I studied myself carefully in the mirror. I was wearing a peach-colored off the shoulder gown. I put on some light make up to compliment the color of my attire. I was wearing a pair of small white heart-shaped earrings. I wasn't used to extravagant fashion when it came to attending lavish weddings even though I had my queer taste of sporting colorful outfits on occasions.
I picked out a pair of white stilettos. I did have a fair number of shoes even though I didn't get ample opportunities to wear them. The ones that I chose to fit in my feet were pretty high. I brought them out from the lowest drawer of our room's closet where all Treena and my dresses were kept.
I was a petite girl of 5 feet two inches. I looked pretty diminutive standing next to Will who was a fair bit above 6 feet. The high heels I was wearing would actually succeed in bringing my eyes up to his long straight aquiline nose.
I was sitting on the bed when I heard the honking sound of Will's car outside of our house. Not wasting any second, I got up. I rushed towards entrance; holding my white purse in my left hand. I opened the door.
My jaw went slack when my eyes landed on a very suave Will dressed in an elegant tuxedo with a stark black bow tie around his neck. It took me quite a few seconds to recover myself. My mouth just could not help making an 'O' shape; muttering "Wow" under my breath as Will appeared on the porch.
"You look pretty….., " I stuttered; not being able to find any words to describe what he looked at the moment.
He raised his thick eyebrows; silently asking me to complete my sentence.
"You look quite posh, " I finally managed to say as we started walking towards his car.
"You also look very beautiful, Louisa, " he praised as we reached his car.
As I got into the passenger seat, my lips quirked upwards in an unexpected smile. It was probably because he called me by my first name Louisa. Mostly, he would address me as Clarke. But, tonight It seemed a bit foreign to hear Louisa come out of his mouth.
When he started the car, I allowed myself to rest my head against my seat. Will's question caused me to sit a bit upright.
"Why were you smiling?"
"How did you know I smiled?" I countered; giving him a pointed look.
"Let's say I just happen to know, " he replied; directing that 100 Mega Watt smirk at me.
"Do I need a reason to smile?" I asked him; peeking sideways at him through my lashes.
He shook his head while keeping his eyes ahead on the road.
"I just find everything that has happened in the last few months with me running into you several times and getting hired by you strange," I admitted; still very unsure as to how to explain my state of mind.
"I get it, Clarke."
"You don't need to explain further," he said; shrugging his shoulders.
I did not know why I tended to act the way I did when I was with him. Even though I would say random stuff to customers at the Buttered Bun, doing the same thing with Will felt a bit more alien. At the same time, it did seem so inviting that I couldn't help doing so over and over again.
Did this happen when you got used to someone's presence?
