His Silent Scream

Chapter 42

Author Notes: Last time Haou had an anxiety attack that triggered Yoko, and sent the rest of their friend group into a spiral of confusion and panic. Big fun~ Now it's time to see what happened afterwards. I do not own Yugioh.

Jehu ended up skipping the rest of his classes...but if anyone were to ask why, well he had one hell of a good reason. After all it wasn't every day that Haou would have a panic attack so bad that he would faint from the stress.

Giving himself a fever in the process. With how the day was going the bluenette wasn't going to be paying much attention in class anyways. The nurse called Yugi, giving him and Jim full leave to grab their stuff and go.

"We're almost at the house Jehu. Did you get ahold of your mother?" The teen nodded, grateful that Yugi was able to pick up the two from school. "Yeah, she couldn't really talk since she was on shift, but she knows. She'll be home in time for the twins so I'm not worried." Well that wasn't true.

He was worried, but for once it wasn't for not being able to pick up his brothers from school. No it was because his boyfriend was completely limp against him, still unconscious and taking harsh breaths. "What happened Jehu?" Yami was still at school.

Regrettably unable to rush to his family's aid since he was in the middle of class. Promising to show up as soon as the final bell rang. "Yoko got a call from Haou while we were talking at lunch. We found him having a breakdown in the library. Stating 'he's back' before him and Yoko collapsed."

Jim already having a license took his girlfriend home with his motorcycle, intending on staying with her until she woke up. Giving assurances so that Yugi could grab Haou and take him home. He knew there was a reason he liked these boys.

"Shit! And I thought my sister in law and her husband were enough of a headache. Now the Princetons are back in town." It was no wonder the two passed out in shock. "Why now of all times though? It's been years." Jehu had no answers for him.

His mind was still trying to understand it all. "Is Haou going to be alright?" He gazed down at the boy, placing a hand over his forehead. He was still warm, but it wasn't as intense. Yugi glanced at the pair from his rearview mirror, amethyst eyes full of concern.

Even he wasn't sure considering the circumstances that was given. Still he offered a smile. "I'd expect him to be disoriented and tired when he wakes up, but he'll be fine." That wasn't the answer Jehu was looking for, and Haou's uncle knew it.

Both of them knew Haou's mental state was improving, but there were still some triggers that set him off. Jehu needed to know what to do to help him or what signs to look for when he's like this. Yugi drove on for a few minutes in silence.

Tapping his fingers on the wheel while trying to ignore the stare he was no doubt receiving. Eventually he sighed. "I can't say how he'll be emotionally Jehu. This hasn't ever happened before." That just made him fret all the more.

"When he woke up in the hospital...the first words out of his mouth was 'why am I still here? I should be dead.' I don't think he meant it as he wished he was dead...but it always worried me. He wouldn't go anywhere near knives for the longest time. Absolutely terrified and guilty."

They were dark days. Yami and Yugi found themselves stuck questioning what to do. Yami was doing what he could taking care of Haou, while Yugi focused on trying to talk to Yoko. He noticed very quickly on that she was avoiding her cousin.

Her scars and pain though nowhere near as traumatic as Haou's...were still deep. "We're here." Jehu couldn't unbuckle fast enough as he grabbed his boyfriend. Picking him up with no issues as he thanked the storeowner.

"I can stay if you want." Yugi saw the young man's tense smile as he waved him off. "I'm good, Yami mentioned stopping by later. You just focus on helping Jim with Yoko." How in the hell did Yugi's grandfather ever manage to handle these kinds of situations?

Sure Yugi's teenage years were nowhere this chaotic but there were still hard times. Especially when it involved his beloved's family. Yugi glanced up at the sky as Jehu unlocked the door to let him and Haou in. Holding his hands together.

"Grandpa, if you're listening...please give me the strength and guidence to help these kids."

'So you're the morons messing with my crap.' Haou stood, his gold eyes narrowed at the three guys now paralyzed in place. The pricks caught red handed in front of the brunette's locker. He had been waiting for this opportunity for ages now. Sucks that he had to slip and let Yoko find out.

But at least he could end the problem before it could get anymore dangerous. 'Well. Guess the cat's out of the bag now.' He recognized their faces now that they turned to face him. None of them were in his class, but he remembered them clear as day.

They were among the group that complained when Shadow Realm had to shut down during the fall festival. 'Why are you doing this?' Were they still pissy over the fact that they couldn't eat? Of all the stupid motivations for someone to try screwing with him, this had to be the most idiotic he's ever dealt with.

'Isn't if obvious? We want to take you down Yuki! Once you're down to the bottom of the food chain, we'll rule the school!' Never mind...This was the stupidest reason. 'I'm not in charge of the school.' He was already done with this conversation.

He already recorded up to this point through the phone in his pocket. All he had to do was give it to Mr. Sheppard or Banner and these guys would be history. 'Bullshit! You're able to control anyone here with your creepy eyes and death threats.' How old were these guys?

They were in high school for god's sake. 'Whatever. Look. I don't know what brought out your little delusions about me but I don't care. I don't have time for your bullshit. I'm giving you one chance to fuck off and leave me alone.'

The three turned red in the face as they growled. Not liking his tone of voice or the words he was using. One of them moved, practically leaping for a tackle. Only to smack into a locker since Haou was able to easily jerk off to the side, out of his reach.

'Who's going to make us shrimp? You!? Our boss will put you in his place. We'll make him the real king here!' Haou didn't care about this boss guy or whoever. He just wanted these morons to stop screwing with his stuff. 'You're wasting my time, and yours.' He sounded like a parent lecturing a child.

Suddenly all of them were in his personal bubble. Instinct kicked in as Haou moved, his eyes trained on each body as he skirted around them, dodging every blow. 'Stop being a pansy and fight like a man!' He didn't want to fight. There was no need for such violence, especially for a stupid reason as this.

But he wasn't going to just stand there and let them hit him. Not again. Not Ever. Kicks and punches were coming his way, and he was effortlessly maneuvering around them. But the motions were starting to become too familiar.

His vision was fogging, feeling sick as moments of the past clashed with the present. 'Oof!' Eventually one of them got a hit in him. The force pushing him back against the lockers. 'Ugh.' The metal lock digging into his spine made him wince. But he's dealt with worse. Far worse.

'How do you like that you cocky bastard!? Just give it up.' With a pained grunt he stood up, staring at them with no fear or anger in his eyes. The look had shivers crawl up their spines at his expression.

Though they showed no signs of it, only arrogant defiance. 'Guess he hasn't learned his lesson yet boys. Let's go!' Haou had his hands out with his palms open. Ready for round two when a voice rang out.

Stopping the fight. 'What the hell are you losers doing?' That familiar raspy accent made Haou stiffen as he shifted his attention. Finding a teen crossing his arms with a scowl. Black hair spiked up to the sides and eyes full of frustration. 'B-boss! We're just showing this guy what for is all!'

Chazz Princeton was their boss. Chazz Princeton is the new transfer...Haou needed to get out of there. NOW! 'What the hell are you guys-Haou!? Wait!' The brunette refused to stop as his legs carried him away.

His mind was flashing memories of the past. Blood was on his tongue, he could taste it! His arms hurting, throbbing as if just bandaged. His temporary sanctuary was the library, where Mr. Kagemaru took him into his office. Just barely able to call Yoko. She needed to know...

"Huh?" Gold squinted open, aching terribly as Haou at last came to. With a pained groan he sat up, blinking in confusion as he found himself back home in bed. As much as he wanted to breathe a sigh of relief, thinking what happened was all a dream, he knew for a fact it wasn't.

The bruise on his back and the still puffy eyes assured him of that. He glanced around, finding himself all alone. But he could hear noises from beyond his opened door, and he saw the recognizable backpack and guitar case. Jehu brought him home.

His mind pauses at that. Jehu brought him home...he saw him break down. "Dammit all to hell." Pulling up his legs, Haou rested his head on his knees, the rough fabric scraping his skin slightly. He could feel his heart hammering in his chest still, as if he were still back there.

The rustic taste was gone but his lip was tender from when he bit it earlier. "Haou...oh my god Haou!" The sixteen year old looked up just in time to find arms wrap around him and the scent of pine hit his nose. The familiar cologne soothed him.

Immediately he turned, letting his head rest on Jehu's chest with a soft sigh. "Sorry you had to see me like that Jehu." He felt like a burden all over again. "Don't apologize." The smaller of the two is gently hushed, them staying like this for a few moments.

Allowing peace to temporarily occupy their minds. But Jehu sighed, knowing they would be staying like this for all eternity(not a bad idea at all in his opinion) if he didn't pull away. Grabbing the plate he placed on the desk next to the bed when he entered. Haou needed to eat.

"Grilled cheese?" Especially if he threw his lunch away earlier. "An Anderson special~ The one thing I can make without burning the house down!" His little quip earned him a small smile, but it didn't reach his eyes. "I'm not that hungry Jehu." Slim fingers gently push the dish away.

Only for Jehu's to push it back. He wasn't going to take no for an answer. "At least take a few bites. Yoko told me about your locker. And the little...surprise in your lunch." Of course she did, Haou should've figured as much. "I was going to tell you after school was over."

As much as he didn't want to, Haou picked up the sandwich, mutter his usual small thanks before forcing himself to chew. It was hard, but he managed to swallow the first bite. "Why didn't you tell me when it first started? We could've done something!" The second attempt was harder to take.

His stomach grumbling in displeasure. "I wanted to deal with it myself. It didn't get bad until today anyways." He took a sharp breath, his back twinging. "You didn't go to Mrs. Sheppard's room during lunch did you?" It wasn't a question at this point as Jehu reached towards his boyfriend's back.

Noticing his pain, he went to investigate. Pulling the shirt up to reveal a series of large black and blue marks. "The thugs apparently think I'm the king bee of this school and wanted me off the throne. I was doing fine up until one of them shoved me."

Lips grazed the injury trailing up the spine. "And you're Going to tell a teacher about this right?" Haou was trying to ignore the sensations in his stomach as he continued eating. Nodding as he reached into his pocket.

Pulling out his phone he played the audio showdown between him and the bullies. "I got the conversation recorded. I was planning on showing it to Mr. Sheppard or Banner after they left but...it didn't happen."

He never got that far. "Was that when you ran into 'Him?" He reached the brunette's neck at this point, his teeth grazing the sensitive, flesh. Chilled knuckles gently kneading into his scarred back.

"Yeah. I don't know if he was aware of what was going on. He at least sounded confused, but I didn't stick around to try and find out." Haou exhaled, feeling his body shake at the memory. "I'm scared Jehu. I don't know what to do." This was a huge step forward for him.

Last year he wouldn't have breathed a word of this. Thinking it to be a fruitless effort. "Are you sure it was him?" But no matter what Haou didn't want a repeat of seventh grade and he definitely didn't want his friends or family to suffer like he did.

There didn't need to be for anyone to break like him. "It's kinda hard to forget a face when they're your ex friend who slashed your wrists along with several parts of your body before leaving you to die." Jehu moved to sit in front of him again.

His expression protective and determined. "Tell me what you want Haou." Their gazes locked in a wordless conversation, though the taller teen wanted a verbal response. Haou placed his half eaten tray back on the desk, swallowing a lump that seeped into the back of his throat.

Jehu wanted his complete honesty. His eyes telling him he would fulfill every wish. It didn't matter how insane or difficult they would be. Whatever asked would be received without question. There was slight hesitation before he got a response.

"I...don't want to be alone. I don't want to have a reunion with Chazz and his cronies. I don't want Yoko or anyone else I care about to get hurt." He leaned forward at this point, letting his hands reach to cup Jehu's face.

Allowing the bluenette to see Haou on the verge of tears again. Without a word Jehu palmed his hands over his. Keeping them in place for one final desire to be requested. "But most of all...I want to forget about everything for a little while. Make me forget about everything but us."

Amber eyes widened in shock, his mouth parted. Allowing Haou to dive in, not allowing Jehu a chance to refuse. "Mm!" Their eyes closed as Jehu fell back onto the bed, taking Haou with him in an embrace.
