The Vengeful One

Issei Hyoudou was beyond pissed. One of the women he loved had just died in his arms. Only one person could have done this. Valdos Kasadi. Unbeknownst to him, Azazel, Sirzechs and Michael were testing him. In fact, Asia wasn't dead. Her spirit was taken to Heaven for the time being. In time, Michael would collect her body and restore her soul.

The Red Dragon was on a war path. However, he needed a safe place for his children. The first person that came to mind was soon picking up the phone.

"Hello?"

"Sona Sitri. It's Issei Hyoudou."

"Ah the pawn of Rias. What do I owe the pleasure?" The heiress to the Sitri house hadn't seen him since he married Rias. Two and a half years ago.

"Asia's dead."

"…"

"I would assume you've heard of the Khaos Brigade's new sect of Dragon hunters. Their leader, Valdos Kasadi, was locked in Hell after Vali and I defeated him. He escaped yesterday. My home has been ransacked and Asia was killed trying to protect my children."

"Issei, I'm so sorry. Are the rest of them..?"

"I don't know. They weren't there."

"Oh."

"I need to ask a favor of you."

Sona took a second to take everything in. "S-Sure. What do you need?"

"I'm bringing my children to your house. I need you and Tsubaki to watch over them while I take care of this."

"We can do that. See you in a bit." The phone clicked and Sona dialed another number. "Tsubaki. I need you over here stat. I'll explain later." She hung up and stared around her. 'This needs to be baby proof.'

After 30 minutes, Sona had cleaned her room and removed anything that could potentially harm a baby. The dark purple room was more lit and brighter than she liked, but it was necessary. The doorbell rang and she rushed to answer it.

"Thank you, Sona." Issei carried his son in one arm, his infant daughter in his other, and his oldest had her arms wrapped around his neck.

"Here, let me." She carefully removed Ellie from his back and held her.

"Ellie, be good for Aunt Sona okay?" Issei smiled as he walked with Sona to her room.

"Otay!" The young child smiled at her father.

"Good girl." He patted her head and followed Sona in her room. After setting down his two babies on the bed, he waited for Sona to add Ellie to the mix before speaking. "Okay. Daddy has to go now. I'll be back before you know it. I promise." He hugged them tight. "I love you all so much. Be good for your Aunt Sona. She's one of Rias' best friends."

Sona stood back in amazement. She never really saw Issei as anything more than a soldier and a pervert. Now she saw the side that Rias had fallen in love with all those years ago. She saw the loving and caring man, and not the oafish boy that had joined Rias in the beginning. He was a genuinely caring man that held his loved ones close and was willing to die for them.

She had heard from Rias about how he was willing to sacrifice himself for them a few months ago. No one that only cared about power would do that. Rias had told her that when he walked out that door, she was willing to follow him. The only thing keeping her there was her daughter.

"Sona?" A voice shook her from her thoughts.

"Huh?" She shook her head and looked up at Issei.

"If you're not up for this…"

"I can handle it. You can trust me Hyoudou." She crossed her arms confidently.

"A little warning. The key to them being quiet is to keep Ellie quiet. When she gets loud, Ewan gets loud. Shuri can be a little bi polar with her outbursts. The way to keep Ellie quiet is to sit her in front of a TV. Ewan is pretty much the same way. Shuri doesn't require a lot of attention, just stay close to her. Once she feels alone, she gets scared." He took one last look at his children. "Thank you for helping me, Sona. I owe you one."

"I will be sure to find a way to cash in." She deadpanned as he took his leave. 'Maybe I can ask him to join his family.' The young heiress shook her head violently. 'No, he would never allow that. Would he?'

Back at Issei's House

Issei was standing in front of his home once again. He had felt a presence of something malevolent in his home. The Dragon ventured in and went straight to his bedroom. A looming shadow was standing over his fallen fiancé.

"She was so brave. Defended them till she couldn't take anymore. Even after I slammed her into the bed post, she got right back up. I guess she used her healing to shield them from my attacks." A familiar voice came from the shadow.

"Kasadi. You have no idea... what you've unleashed here today. You think that the rage of the previous Red Dragon was horrible? Try and fathom the rage that a father, hellbent on vengeance, feels. You took away a person that I loved. What have you done with the others?!"

"Oh, Red Dragon, don't you see? I want you angry. I want the world to join me in killing you. I will kill one you love everyday until you use your juggernaut drive. Maybe then, we can force you to do it." Valdos laughed maniacally as he stood over Asia. "This little bitch was just the first to go."

A fire deep within Issei's heart ignited and raged. "You don't get to talk about her."

"Oh, and wha-…"

The dragon killer was launched into the wall and through the side of the house. A very angry Dragon, clad in his balance breaker, followed. "You dare call her that. You dare have the nerve to come after my family. I will kill you, and it won't be quick." He slammed his knee into Kasadi's chest knocking the wind out of him.

"That's it. Get angry. Show the world the power of the Holy Dragons!"

He wanted to do it. He wanted to give into his rage and hate. Suddenly, a voice appeared beside him. "It's okay Issei. You don't need that power to be strong." The sweet voice of Asia came from a ball of light.

"I have to avenge you." Tears were streaming down his face as his fist pulled back.

"There's no need. I'm happy Issei. I was able to protect them."

The mighty Dragon dropped his armored fist and sat down, his armor disappearing. He quickly threw his unarmored fist into Kasadi's face and knocked him out. After a minute or so, he pulled out his phone. "Sirzechs, I've got him."

Issei stood tall and flew back up to his bedroom to find Lord Michael standing over Asia's body. He dropped to his knees and cried. "I'm sorry, Michael. I couldn't protect her."

"There is no need to cry, Issei." Michael raised his hand and placed it on Asia's still face. "I'm sorry that you had to be put through this. I never wanted to go along with it."

Before Issei could question, he saw a light surround Asia's body and lift her up. A bright yellow glow lit the room and healed the wound on her head. She was soon laid back down and her eyes fluttered open.

"Issei?"

"Asia!" He jumped and held her tight. "I'm so sorry Asia. I couldn't protect you. I…" He was cut off when she kissed him.

"I'm okay. Michael brought me back."

"Where are the others?"

Michael interrupted before he got an answer. "I need you both to come with me." He then transported them all to Sirzechs home. Issei and Asia entered a room to see Sona there with his children. "Issei. We were testing you."

"He's right kid. We needed to see if you were ready." Azazel chuckled.

"For what?"

"To become a high class devil." Sirzechs added.

Issei was fuming. His bother in law and his teacher had just put him through Hell to test him. "What do you mean 'testing me?'"

"We set Valdos free, monitored of course. That's why Vali was here. He was to keep him in check in case he went wild." Azazel smirked at his own genius.

"HE KILLED ASIA!" Issei screamed. "I should kill all of you where you sit."

A portal opened behind him and Ophis stepped out, followed by his family. The all rushed to hug the man they all loved. "I told you he would be mad." The Dragon god deadpanned.

"Yea, yea. Spare me the I told you so, could you please?" Azazel frowned.

Over on the other side of the room Issei was reunited with his family. They hadn't even been apart for more that a day. But given the circumstances, it made sense to be this emotional. According to Rias, everything was normal when he left. When Valdos showed up, she was away from the children and tried to go help. Before she knew it, she was pulled into the gap by Ophis. Soon enough, the other girls were pulled in. The only one missing was Asia.

Ophis told them that it was unsafe to bring children in the gap and that Asia had volunteered to stay behind. While Rias protested, Asia was gone and Ophis closed the door to the gap. It was unknown to the others that Asia had been killed by Kasadi.

Issei took a minute to look around him. His family was safe from harm and the foe was once again vanquished. The real culprits were only testing him to see…

"So, what's the verdict?" He stood and looked toward the leaders of the three great factions.

"Say what now?" Azazel looked up from his papers.

"Did I pass your little test?"

"With flying colors. The idea was to make sure you could control your power once you saw a loved one die. Although we had no idea that it would come to that." Sirzechs stood and walked over to the group. "I truly and sorry that you got hurt Asia. I never meant for that."

Of course, Asia was always ready to forgive. "That's okay. I got to feel what it was like to be a mother. I gave my all to protect them, so I thank you for the experience."

"Asia Argento. The only girl in the world who would thank someone for inadvertently orchestrating their death." Issei chuckled. His family was safe and sound. Now time to move on to the next step of his life.
