Season 5: Beginning of the Invasion

Episode 19 (80): Breaking the Changeling Army Down

War is not a pleasant thing to happen in the world. Conflicts are bound, rivalries are heated, destruction inbound and sometimes, lives lost. But good things do sometimes happen around wars, the other side surrenders and the good side gets to celebrate their victory, medals passed down to the soldiers in arms, and the world can rest easy. But this fight in Equestria, the resistance against the changelings will decide the fate of all of Equestria. In the stationary camp, Mage, Somnambula and Zecora were tending to some injured fighters, while exhausted soldiers rest to get their energy back up. Some tired soldiers were Rarity, Gallus, Stygian, Yona and the Washouts were resting in the beds, while Somnambula tends to Ocellus, Zecora tends to Smolder and Mage tends to Applejack.

Pony AJ: Ow, my leg is hurting like a broken cello.

Mage Meadowbrook: Well, I don't think it's so bad, just some simple healing herbs and you should be good, just don't step on it too much.

Pony AJ: Will do Ms. Meadowbrook.

Gallus: (Sighs) This whole fight is exhausting, from flying to fighting off the changelings, I'm about to crash and burn if I continue.

Rolling Thunder: Mate, this is hardly breaking a sweat for us Washouts, I can do this more times than none than you can drink up a whole waterhole.

Gallus: If I was to drink a whole waterhole, I would do it.

Rolling Thunder: I'll bet you a hundred bits for you to do that.

Stygian: No one is betting on anything as of this moment. We need to take care of the changelings before we do anything.

Zecora: Stygian is right Rolling Thunder, the war comes first and we need to stop the changelings before they do more damage.

Smolder: On that note, I agree. Ahh, watch the wing!

Zecora: Sorry, that changeling nearly damaged your wing membrane, I'll need some special healing cream to help heal it in due time.

Smolder: Thanks Zecora, man, this war is really heating up.

Short Fuse: Tell me about it, all this fighting is making me want to scream!

Somnambula: I would not advise that, unless you want the base to be the next target.

Short Fuse: Point taken.

Ocellus: What about the Steam Team? Are you sure they can handle themselves?

Smolder: Please, they can totally handle themselves. Have you seen them handle those changeling brutes?

Gallus: I have, and oh my god, they're so powerful, they're practically unbeatable.

Pony Rarity: Well, don't forget they do have some tricky opponents that they have to deal with in the future. Diesel and his flunkies are still around, Diesel 10 is still a dangerous threat in both Sodor and Equestria, and Timothy, (Shudders) just thinking about his ghostly nature, hideous appearance and demonic voice is enough to make me have nightmares about him.

Zecora: If we do find him, we won't let one spirit ruin our chance to take them down.

Gallus: Uhh, let's let the Steam Team deal with him, some of us don't want nightmares from him.

Ocellus: Fair enough.

Yona: Yona agrees with Ocellus, Yona doesn't want nightmares with Timothy.

Meanwhile, the Steam Team are continuing fighting the brutes, and they're slowly getting tired. So some hunker down by a grove of bushes to rest, while the rest continue the fight. Percy, James, Emily, Rebecca, Gordon along with Pinkie Pie were resting as they watch the fight play out.

Gordon: These bugs just keep coming, when will this end.

James: Hours, days, weeks, months, years, it's like a never ending sea of bugs. We're never gonna make a dent to the armada, we'll be swamped and Chrysalis would take over all of Equestria. I'm panicking here, I'm panicking people!

Out of nowhere, Pinkie popped in a binkie in James' mouth.

Pony Pinkie: Aww, James is acting like a real baby, it's actually kinda funny. (Giggles)

Percy: Aww, does the wee baby James need a diaper change.

Percy, Emily, Gordon and Rebecca were trying so hard not to laugh, but Gordon could barely hold it in. That struck a nerve at James, which made him yell at Percy.

James: PERCY!

That's when Emily slapped him across the face.

Emily: Pull yourself together James, we need everyone to be sane here otherwise we won't be able to stop the changelings.

Rebecca: Emily's right, we need to keep our heads in the game or else we can't continue the fight.

James: (Breathing heavily) Y-Your right, what was I thinking. Let's do this.

Gordon, Emily, James and Rebecca charged out of the bush to attack the changeling while Percy and Pinkie fire a barrage of laser fire and cupcakes, taking down a bunch of changelings. Meanwhile, Tempest is fighting a bunch of changelings in hoof-to-hoof combat, firing explosive magic and throwing obsidian bombs at the changelings to freeze them in place until Thomas came in a slam attack sending a golden shockwave, deflecting every changeling in the vicinity.

Tempest Shadow: Nice save Thomas.

Thomas: Thanks, I don't wanna have my friends overwhelmed during this fight.

Tempest Shadow: Can't argue with that.

So the two continued fighting as Tempest does quick glances and seeing Thomas fight with not just his swords but his wide arrange of powers.

Tempest Shadow: (Thoughts) Hmm, these Steam Team folk are getting more surprising by the day. Perhaps, they should be rewarded with the medal of honor when this changeling war is over with.

As the war rages on, the elders of their kingdoms: Prince Rutherford, Thorax, Ember, and even Celestia, Luna, Lady & Cadence joining them as well.

Princess Celestia: How are you handling yourselves elders?

Ember: So far, peachy. But not so peachy with all these bugs all over the place.

Thorax: We seriously needed something to push these changelings away from here.

Prince Rutherford: Prince Rutherford open for suggestions.

Lady: Wait a minute, what about the Steam Team? You've seen them perform some ridiculous beam attacks with their new Elements of Harmony, why not have them perform a combine beam attack at the entire swarm.

Princess Luna: With that kind of power at their disposal, it just might work. Problem is, we need them all here to perform that attack.

Lady: I'll try to get them together as best I can.

Princess Cadence: You do that Lady; we'll need all the help we can get.

So Lady teleported away to find the separated Steam Team. She then detected one close by, Henry, by a grassy patch. Henry is fighting multiple changelings while Daring Do and Sandbar assisted them. He continues fighting with his chucks and using his plant powers to snag and snare a bunch of changelings when Lady released a golden shockwave sending the changelings flying back, all the while more changelings are coming here.

Henry: Lady, what are you doing here? (As he delivers a hoof kick at one changeling)

Lady: Well, I wasn't just checking in to see how everyone is fairing in this war. (Magic blasts another)

Henry: Well, besides me using my chucks and my plant powers, everything has been going splendidly (summoned a sharp vine to ensnare a flying changeling)

Sandbar: I don't know about you, but this is started to tire me out.

Henry: Daring Do, care to take over with someone to assist you.

Daring Do: Can do Henry, (Whistles) yo Flash Magnus, care to help out.

Flash Magnus: Sure thing Daring.

Henry: So, what's been going on Lady.

Lady: Well, the Elders have been thinking and we were thinking if you and the Steam Team should do a combined beam attack at the changelings to send them flying away.

Henry: Well, when you put it that way, it kinda makes sense. You guys can take it from here, I'll have to meet up with a few friends of mine.

Flash Magnus: You got it.

Henry: Where should I go?

Lady: Head to that hill, and hopefully your friends will be there.

Henry: Got it.

Henry raced away, while using his plant powers to strike at more changelings. Lady teleported away to find another member, and her energy detected another member, Percy. Percy was with Pinkie, along with Discord and Starlight. Percy is using his teleportation like crazy to get out of sticky situations and firing his wrist blasters at the changelings. They were easily defeated, and Percy blew smoke out of the barrels in satisfaction.

Percy: Now that is satisfying.

Discord: I must say my friend; you do use those blasters like an aficionado.

Lady teleported to them.

Lady: Yes, he is, and Percy is an all-purpose capable fighter, with those blasters and his teleportation abilities, he's pretty much untouchable.

Percy: You got that right Lady.

Starlight Glimmer: So what brings you here Lady.

Lady: The Elders have been thinking and we think the Steam Team could perform a combined beam attack to push away the changelings once and for all.

Percy: Well, what are we waiting for, I'm in, where's the location.

Lady: That hill over there, I already have Henry going over there, hurry.

Percy: Already ahead of you. (Teleports away)

Starlight Glimmer: (Chuckles) Looks like he beats you to it.

Lady: (Chuckles) Looks like it. (Teleports away)

Starlight Glimmer: Let's make sure no more of these changelings go through this part.

Discord: Already ahead of you. (Teleports in a glass dome)

Starlight Glimmer: (Sighs) Not what I had in mind.

As she glides to find more of the Steam Team, she soon detects Nia, fighting with Mistmane, Ahuizotl & Rainbow Dash. Nia has been all over the place fighting the changelings, with the assistance of Rainbow's speed, Ahuizotl's multi-limbed prowess and Mistmane's magic, she's able to hold her own with her sword, staff & bow fighting, along with a bit of her magic. That's when Lady came in with her sending a golden shockwave at the changelings.

Ahuizotl: Well, I'll be, the Lost Engine of the Magic Railroad.

Pony Rainbow: What brings you down here golden gal?

Lady: Well, I can see that you guys are taking care of things here.

Mistmane: Yes, we are.

Nia: So what are you doing here?

Lady told them what the Elders were thinking as their final solution.

Pony Rainbow: Now that sounds awesome.

Nia: I agree; a combined beam attack would surely put a massive dent in the army.

Lady: So, will you help us Nia?

Nia: I will Lady, can you guys take over from here.

Pony Rainbow: Don't you worry Nia, we got this covered.

Lady teleported away and Nia raced away while using her weapons to whack away changelings as she goes to the hill. Lady continues her trek until she meets a blue blur. And she was right, it was Gordon using his blazing speed to blaze right through some changelings all the while swinging his hammer at them, along the way Gilda, Princess Twilight, Garble & Pharynx fighting as well. Lady came in to join the flight and the fight.

Lady: So, uhh (magic blasts a changeling), what's been going on with you.

Gilda: Other than beating down a bunch of changeling bugs like nobody's business, we're all just peachy.

Garble: Ha, considering griffons are so headstrong at fighting, I'm surprised you're lasting this much.

Gilda: Want me to make an example of you dragon-breath.

Gordon: Oi, let's not turn on each other. We're all in this together. We're not fighting amongst us for our personal gains.

Lady: Well said Gordon, but right now, we need you for something more.

Gordon: What's that?

And she explained to them what the Elders were having the Steam Team do to eliminate the changeling threat.

Pharynx: Whoa, now that's a tall order.

Princess Twilight: It just might work.

Gordon: A tall order I'll gladly accept, where to Lady.

Lady: That hill over there, Nia, Henry & Percy are already there.

Gordon: Will do, Pharynx, care to take charge.

Pharynx: Most certainly, come on you guys, let's take this to the skies.

So Gordon left Pharynx, Garble and Gilda to take care of the changelings while he heads to the hill. Lady flies off to find someone else. She soon found someone else, Edward, he's in an embankment with Sunset, Charlet and Star Swirl, using their magic to fire as many changelings as they can. Sunset can use her magic but she still mastered with her sword, when Lady arrived.

Lady: Am I interrupting?

Sunset Shimmer: We're doing fine, other than continuous fighting.

Lady: Please do, the matter of life and death hangs in the balance. But it'll only work if the Steam Team are brought together.

Star Swirl the Bearded: Together, what's this about?

Lady: The Elders think that combining the Steam Team's Elements of Harmony, the result will be tremendous power that'll wipe out the changeling army.

Edward: You're certain about this.

Lady: I am; this may be our only chance at stopping the army.

Edward: Then I must go, I wish all of you the best of luck at stopping them.

Star Swirl the Bearded: We'll take care of it on our end.

Charlet: Don't worry about us, we'll handle our own here.

Edward: Thanks you guys.

So Lady flies away, while Edward raced off while firing any changelings that might get in his way. As she flies, she detected another one, Rebecca. She's holding her own since she's an alicorn and has a lot of power, so Lady sends a wave attack with her Gold Dust at the changelings.

Lady: Rebecca.

Rebecca: Lady, what brings you here?

Lady: Well nothing much, just knowing that the Steam Team are going to converge for a combine beam attack to stop the army.

Rebecca: Is that so, well count me in.

Lady: Thanks Rebecca, now I must find the others.

So Lady took off as Rebecca did the same as she heads to the hill where the others are. As Lady flies off, she detects another member of the Steam Team, James. James is having a ball, with fighting a bunch of changelings with his ax and fighting them with his skate hooves, and he's fighting alongside Flash, Tempest and Rockhoof. That's when Lady arrived sending a bunch of golden orbs at the changelings.

Lady: Anything new from you guys?

James: Ugh, other than these disgusting bugs getting everywhere, I'm perfectly fine.

Tempest Shadow: What brings you here Lady?

Lady: Well, I need James to join the others at that hill over there, you guys need to perform a combined beam attack at the changelings, it's the only way to stop the army.

Pony Flash: It just might work, with what little option we have, we need every bit of it.

Rockhoof: This should be interesting.

James: Well count me in, if it's enough to get rid of these godforsaken bugs.

Lady: Phew, thank you James.

So James raced off while the others continue fighting, Lady took off to find more of the Steam Team, until seeing a flurry of wood raced through the changelings. Lady could tell that was Toby, so she flew over to him, and assisting him was Big Mac, Capper and Iron Will.

Lady: Everything okay Toby.

Toby: Well, other than having to continuously fight changelings, it's going quite well.

Capper: Well, your breaking up a sweat my dear chap.

Toby: Well, can't stand around here being useless.

Lady: Don't worry, you can have a deserved break with your friends.

And she explained to him what the Steam Team should do.

Iron Will: Now that's something I like to see.

Toby: I never turn down an opportunity to help my friends, consider it down.

Iron Will: You go get 'em Toby!

So Toby raced off to join his friends, leaving Capper and Iron Will to take care of the changelings, Lady soon detected one closest and it was Emily, she's been dominating her leg of the fight with swinging her katana and throwing her explosive Shurikens at them.

Lady: I take it you're handling yourself Emily.

Emily: Indeed, I am, I love being an engine, but I am loving it in Pegasus form.

Lady: Well, I'm glad you're enjoying yourself, but right now we have a plan and it involves the Steam Team.

Emily: Anything to help my friends, I'm down for it. Count me in Lady.

Lady: Then go to the hill Emily, the others are waiting. I must find Thomas.

Lady flew off as well as Emily, as Lady flies, she detects the presence of Gold Dust, Thomas. And she found him, fighting not just changelings but changeling brutes singlehandedly, with his sword, his magic and his Gold Dust, he's unstoppable. That's when Lady cast a telepathy spell to speak in Thomas' mind. Thomas detected it as we peer into his mind.

Lady: Hello Thomas.

Thomas: Lady.

Lady: I've been watching you, seeing what you're becoming. Through so many years, that I've been guarding the Magic Railroad from the clutches of Diesel 10, and see you become the hero of all of Sodor. You've truly lived up to my expectations more times than none. From your struggles, to your strengths, you've conquered it all. From the moment I saw you, I sense that you'll become something more in the future, not just a hero, but a protector, a guardian, a warrior, a force of good and a fighter to the end. You've continued your legacy for generations to see your triumphant achievements. And that makes me so proud of you, it almost brings a tear to my eye, to see you evolve, not just at being a hero, but a good friend to all people, engines and ponies alike.

Thomas: (Blushes) I, don't know what to say, thank you Lady, you've truly become a wonderful friend of my own.

Lady: (Chuckles) I aim to please Thomas. (Placed her hoof on his shoulder) Now go out there, combine your power with your friends, and together, you can stop the changelings once and for all. I know you won't fail us Thomas.

Thomas: I won't Lady, I won't let you down, and I won't let anyone else down until the mission is fulfilled.

Lady: That's what I like to hear Thomas.

Lady leaned in and kissed Thomas on the cheek while Thomas remained stunned until everything comes back to him in the real world. Thomas knew what he must do. He flew off to the hill to which Celestia knew that it's the signal.

Princess Celestia: It's the signal everyone, fall back!

The allies withdraw, leaving the changelings to wonder what's going on. Then they see the Steam Team up on the hill and they fly towards them. The Steam Team looked at each other and nodded. Their elements glowed as they levitated and went into a circle, their eyes glowed with their respective colors, they aimed their horns as well as their hooves toward the center as their beams merged, and a large ball of their combined energy starts getting bigger and bigger.

Thomas: Alright my friends, this is the turning point that will decide the fate of this war, there's no going back, we stick to the matter at hand, till all….

Edward, Gordon, James, Rebecca, Henry, Percy, Emily, Toby & Nia: Are one! Are one! Are one! Are one! Are one! Are one! Are one!

Thomas: Sudrians….

Edward, Gordon, Henry, Percy, James, Nia, Rebecca, Emily & Toby: Unite! Unite! Unite! Unite! Unite! Unite! Unite!

They fire the energy beam at the entire changeling army, obliterating some while blasting them away from the battlefield. When the smoke and dust cleared, the changelings were no longer there. The resistance cheered knowing they've won the war against the changelings, but they're not out of the woods yet, since now they have to deal with Chrysalis. But right now, they decided to celebrate their victory and they did it in a big party held by Pinkie Pie.

BG Music: Celebration- Kool & the Gang

Everyone back in the resistance base is dancing to celebrate their victory against the changeling army. Everyone is having a ball, partying, laughing, and just having a good time. Even the resistance loves seeing the Steam Team do some dance moves as well. But the main stars of the party were Thomas and Sunset Shimmer as they dance in the stars, they smiled and touched horns at each other as they stare into their eyes.

Sunset Shimmer: I'm so proud of you honey, you've stopped the entire changeling army from conquering all of Equestria. And I can't stop smiling at you Thomas.

Thomas: I have to do what I have to, to save the world from evil, and protect anyone I know and love, especially you Sunset.

Sunset Shimmer: (Blushes) Aww, you little cutie. I just love you so much.

Sunset wrapped her hooves around his neck and kissed him on the lips. The couple remained locked in their kiss as the stars shined. Meanwhile, in the castle, there was shouting and frustration heard as Chrysalis went on a hissy fit.

Queen Chrysalis: How can this be?! I have them at the ropes but the stinkin' resistance had to ruin all of my plans! No thanks to the Steam Team for aiding them! Now they'll pay dearly for ruining my conquest! I'll hunt them down, hurt them, torture them, whatever works to get my revenge on the Steam Team, especially that Thomas!

Changeling #1: My liege, might I add something?

Queen Chrysalis: What is it, you little pest!

Changeling #1: If I may, perhaps you can get even with Thomas and the Steam Team, if you negotiate a peace treaty with Thomas.

Queen Chrysalis: I'm listening.

Changeling #1: If you enact a peace treaty to Thomas, we can bring him to you, so that way, you can get to know him a little more, then you can trap him and kill him.

Queen Chrysalis: (Chuckles quietly) Now this I like, when can it be done.

Changeling #1: We'll prepare a potion that'll have your message in it. But there's more, several spies during the battles have spotted Thomas paired with a unicorn named Sunset Shimmer, maybe we can capture her and you'll be able to take down Thomas to get your revenge.

Queen Chrysalis: (Chuckles, laughs evilly) Excellent my servant, soon the Steam Team will know what's it's like to fall at the palm of my hoof, I'll relish in their destruction, relish their cries until they all fall. No one will me this time. (Laughs evilly continuously)
