I don't own Hetalia okay? I don't have much else for this opening. Anyway, enough of this A/N, on with the fic!

(from the diary of Natalya Jones nee Arlovskaya)

The children are asleep, well at least Anya and Alexei are. The rooms here are only two beds and I did not want to have to have all four of my darling children sharing one bed. Nikolai and Ivan are getting older and rather more rambunctious. Anya can keep up with them but Alexei isn't there just yet. Still clings to me a lot and he is two years old now. Well he is the baby of the family after all. But today has been a great day out and apparently it did turn out that Katyusha had followed my advice after all and gotten Matthew the job he would actually like. It combines some of his favorite things, nature and it is a little bit like a lighter version of his Mountie job. The hat reminds me of it. He and Katyusha happen to be staying at this same hotel and he showed us his uniform. They will be heading to their new house just outside the limits of Yosemite National park here in a few days. I will have to plan a trip up there when Alexei is a little older. I do know that Fredka, Nikolai and Ivan would like it.

However, it may be my missing of him mistaking Pacific sea breeze for something I wish that could have happened, but once again Fredka made similar claims. He's childish at times yes, but not insane. I felt as if Vanya was there watching the children play, walking along the boardwalk and when Nikolai and Fredka got into a corn dog eating competition I could have sworn that I heard his laugh. If nothing else, I know this would have been what he wanted if you had asked him before he had shipped off to Europe and died in that cursed war. Whatever those Krauts had to do to repay will never be enough. I can respect Roderich's talents but one thing I can hardly get over is the fact he was on the other side of the wire. From what he said, the aristocrats in charge really had done the average solider dirty, same with what Eliza told me from what happened with her first husband as well as he was German and Roderich was from Austria-Hungary. A point Roderich is very quick to clarify. Although I have noticed that whenever Eliza's first husband is brought up, Matthew always looks away. I suspect there is something there. He wouldn't say but I suspect that it might be something like he thinks he killed her husband. It was war and he was in infantry. Killing was something he would be expected to do. He was more likely to get killed and would have to kill. Vanya was sent to face that hell and save lives. And who dies?

I lost myself there. Even 6 years after it happened, I cannot let it go. This is supposed to be happy. My best friends and family are all in the same state, we are close again. Maybe not a few blocks from each other but all of us have a good part in life. Fredka, Matthew and Roderich have their dream jobs. Katyusha has a family she always dreamed of. Eliza is happy that Roderich is happy. I have four beautiful and wonderful children. I would just make it that Vanya was alive as well to enjoy this. This was his ultimate dream. I know that he would have loved to ride the roller coaster with Nikolai and Fredka.

So how was that? Good? Bad? Short? Long? Let me know in a review. You can clearly see this one is longer than The Longing of the Heart for some obvious reasons. One is over a few years, this a whole decade practically. I am coming to a good wrap up and should be here soon. Anyway, remember to read (well you just did) and to review. Ciao for now,
