I don't own Hetalia okay? I don't have much else for this opening. Anyway, enough of this A/N, on with the fic!

(from the diary of Roderich Edelstein)
Katyusha had planned this well and quickly. I did not know I would see Alfred and his children again, and it on Nikolai's birthday. He was one to always remember it. I hate to admit it, I do have a slight adoration of him because, while his father is a childish knucklehead at times, he is very friendly. Matthew is much more sociable but at the same time, Alfred was the one who got me connections in the music industry and helped Eliza and I pay our rent when we first got here by Natalya wanting Nikolai to learn how to play the piano. So I guess I can put up with him to go fishing. He insisted because Nikolai insisted. I was amazed how tall he is getting. I swear he is nearly as tall as a 11-year-old. Katyusha informs me that his uncle, her brother was much the same way, just a more child. Alfred himself is kind of tall but Matthew told me they did not grow like that. Which is interesting that it is in his blood when as much as I do not want to make Natalya seem small, she is short.
But the only complaint I have is the heat this place has. I understand it's nice and good for filming all year round, and if you head outside of the city limits, you can have an accurate Western appeal as this does not look anything like New York and New Jersey, when I am told some of the first were filmed. That is another thing to get Alfred ranting, and one I agree with him on. As much as I do not like that genre of film, and god that ragtime I have to use for when I am commissioned to compose music for it. I hate it so, but my rambling aside, it simply does not look like where you are saying the story is set. If the story is set in Arizona, there is nothing in New Jersey that looks like it. Just ruins the story immersion. If the cowboy is to ride off into the sunset with dust kicking on the heels of his horse with the pretty maiden when it is not the same desert dust. Trust me, I have been through both and it is very different. Moving here trying to stop Maria from touching a cactus I fell on one causing both Eliza and Maria to laugh. Very funny ha ha. But seeing Nikolai happy and just knowing I can play and write music for my career than whatever I would be doing in Austria, although I do miss the land of my birth so, but if I had stayed, then Eliza and Maria would be in a world of hyperinflation and angry people causing trouble. I had been through that once and never again. This country is staying out of European affairs and I want no more to do with them either. Eliza is happy. Maria can grow up well fed and I will make sure she gets the proper education to make her a respectable lady. But she can do what she wants to. That's enough to make me content. Although Eliza is already talking about when Maria is older going to Yosemite, the park where Matthew is a ranger and camping there. Ugggghhhhh. Well I hope the sign Maria loves me playing for her means she takes after me more than her adventitious mother. I love that about Eliza but at times, it's a little much.
So how was that? Good? Bad? Short? Long? Let me know in a review. You can clearly see this one is longer than The Longing of the Heart for some obvious reasons. One is over a few years, this a whole decade practically. I am coming to a good wrap up and should be here soon. Anyway, remember to read (well you just did) and to review. Ciao for now,
