Xena was torn about this news. On the one hand, it was entirely possible that Ares was lying, that he merely wanted her in Hell, to see her fight. On the other hand, what if it was true. Hope had been the daughter of Dahak, their world's version of pure Evil. She had tried to bring about the end of Days, until she was accidentally destroyed by her own offspring. It made complete sense that Hope would be in Hell, either that or an agent of Evil on Earth. Amongst those that Hope murdered was Xena's son, Solon. Xena decided she could never forgive Hope for that. But despite all of this, Gabrielle was Hope's mother. Xena decided that Gabrielle deserved to know the truth. What she decided to do with this was up to her.

Gabrielle: Do you think Ares is telling the truth?

Xena: Yes, but I've been wrong before. Suppossedly Hope had her own mini-kingdom in Hell. How she rules it, Ares was pretty scarce on details.

Gabrielle: Maybe he just wants me to speculate, figures I'll have to go and see for myself if I don't know.

Xena: Maybe, he has used manipulation before.

Gabrielle: He's not wrong you know. Maybe I couldn't save Hope before, but now.

Xena: She was evil before. Now in Hell I doubt there's any chance of redemption.

Gabrielle: You were evil, you were on a cross in Tartarus.

Xena: And you brought me back. But let's say that Hope does have a soul, in order to be born as Dahak's daughter, she must have been a very evil person in her previous lives.

Gabrielle: You might be right, but I have to see for myself.

Xena: I know. But I can't forgive her for killing my son. I would follow you to Hell itself, but not for this.

Gabrielle: I know. But I will come back to you.

Xena: You better.

With her own wife refusing to help her find her daughter Gabrielle went to others for help. One such person ws Phoebe Halliwell. In her own world Phoebe had married Cole, just as he was becoming the Source of all evil. Phoebe became pregnant with his child, the unborn child was stolen by the Seer. The Seer planned to use this baby to become the Source herself. In the battle that ensued the Seer, and most of the Underworld's leadership, were vanquished. But they were unable to save Phoebe's baby, she never had the chance to help her child become good. Now, Gabrielle hoped that Phoebe would be willing to work with her to rescue both of their children from Hell.

Gabrielle: Will you help me?

Phoebe: Ofcourse. Maybe we should also work with Rosemary and her son Andrew. Those two definitely know about helping overcome Evil.

Gabrielle: Makes sense. And didn't I hear about one of your sisters dating a demon named Parker?

Phoebe: Those were the charmed ones from a different universe. But yeah, I hear that Parker and his sister Abby were both half demons. Each one dated one of the charmed ones, and eventually they were redeemed. We should definitely seek their help.
