Episode 358: April, Maylene, and June
Several days have passed since they met an old friend of Dawn and Lucas's, so they continued on towards Veilstone City. Along the way, Lucas comes across a Gligar, hanging in a tree and it attacked him."You think you're goign to get the best of me, then think again!" Lucas said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Floatzel!" Floatzel came on out to battle. Gligar starts things up with a Quick Attack. "Dodge and use Water Gun!" Floatzel avoids Gligar's Quick Attack and fires Water Gun and it lands a hit onto the fly scorpion Pokémon.
"Floatzel is a good choice since Gligar is a Ground Type," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Floatzel! Aqua Jet!" Lucas ordered. Floatzel gave a Aqua Jet launch on the wild Gligar and it goes up against a tree. Lucas took out a Pokéball and threw it at Gligar and flows inside. The Pokéball wobbles around and around. Stars swirls around the Pokéball to confirm the catch. He went over to the Pokéball containing his latest Pokémon.
"That was a very good catch, Lucas," Dawn said. Lucas blushes.
"Thanks, Dawn," Lucas said. "Would you like to come with me up ahead? We can meet up with Sora and the others later in Veilstone City."
"Sure," Dawn said. She turned to the group. "You don't mind, do you?"
"Not at all," Sora said.
"We'll meet you up there," Kairi said. Dawn smiled as they all went on ahead.
Over in Veilstone City, Paul was at the Veilstone City Gym. He was a battling young girl with pale skin and short, pink hair. She wears a sleeveless purple and black top and plain, white pants. She also wears blue fingerless gloves on her hands. Her feet and arms are bare. She wears two bandages, one on her left arm, and one covering her nose. Battling against Paul's Murkrow is a Lucario. Paul's Murkrow's eyes were glowing red.
"Murkrow! Sky Attack!" Paul ordered. Murkrow started to glow to build up energy.
"Aura Sphere! Full power!" The girl ordered. Lucario forms a ball of energy and hurls it at Murkrow and landed it a hit on the darkness Pokémon and fell to the ground.
"Murkrow is unable to battle! Lucario wins! The victory goes to Maylene Gym Leader!" The referee announced. Maylene beamed.
"Good work as usual, Lucario!" Maylene said.
"Lucario!" Lucario said. Paul was angered that he lost to her.
"I cannot believe this!" Paul snarled.
"Looks like you're all talk, Paul. Come back when you're man enough," Maylene said. Paul took his leave and he gave a punch on the wall so hard, his knuckle started to bleed. He didn't care how bad it was. He stormed right out. "What a sore loser." The referee went up to the Veilstone City Gym Leader.
"Don't you think you're getting overconfident, Maylene?" The referee asked..
"Overconcident? Don't be ridiculous. I'm just that good. Reggie's brother may talk big, but he's always been such a big ass. He is nothing like him and he never will be. Besides, it felt good to beat him," Maylene said.
Over to Paul, he storms off in the city and he gave an empty soda can a good kick. It struck a tree nearby as he kept going.
Over to a house, a young man with purple hair and black eyes feeding some Pokémon. He had a light green aprin and a salmon shirt and light tan pants and brown shoes. He had a look of concern on his face.
"What has gotten into Paul lately?" The young man asked. A knock came on the door. "Coming." He went to the door and saw a man in a suit.
"Good day, Reggie. How is my Farfetch'd?" The man asked.
"Fine, Mr. Bastian. Your Farfetch'd has made some excelent progress learning Brave Bird," Reggie said. His Farfetch'd flew right up to him.
"Excellent. As always, you do excellent work," Mr. Bastian said. Reggie smiled.
"Thank you," Reggie said. Mr. Bastian and Reggie took their leave as he shuts the door. "Man, I knew this was big when I lost to Brandon, but I never thought he would take it this far." Reggie noticed how different his Pokémon were, when Paul sent them over to his house. He noticed how red their eyes all were. It was very odd to see. And how frightening it was, so he kept them in their Pokéballs until he could figure out how he could help them.
Over in the Digital World, Myotismon was sitting in his study as he monitors Paul's activity.
"Yes, his agression is growing in each passing day. He is showing some excellnt progress," Myotismon said. He turned to Duskmon. "Ah, Duskmon, how are things in the real world?"
"My lord, Agumon's forces in the Resistance is growing stronger as we speak. We have recieved word from Devimon that Mammothmon had been defeated when Gomamon has Digivoled into his Ultimate form," Duskmon reported.
"So, another one defeated?" Myotismon asked. "What word do we have here in the Digital World?"
"Leomon and his Resistance forces still allude us, master," Duskmon reported.
"I see. Find them and dispose of them quickly. My dominance over this world must be assured that no one is to stop me," Myotismon said. Duskmon bowed his head.
"Yes, master," Duskmon said, taking his leave. Unaware of his presence, Wizardmon was listening on the conversation. Once he was alone, Myotismon checked the progress on the gate to the real world.
"Soon. The gate shall open and I shall enter the human realm. And then, I shall rule over all the humans, Digimon, and Pokémon! And then, no one will be able to stop me! And it will be all thanks to my little puppet Paul!" Myotismon said as he gave off his evil cackle.
Back in the Sinnoh region, Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, and the Digimon all were making a stop for lunch, but unknown to them, a horde of Goblimon were watcching them from the bushes. With the Goblimon were a bunch of Guilmon, but they were black. The red stripes Guilmon has are red instead of black. Vorvomon and the Dracomon Brothers were leading them.
"There they are, Goblimon and BlackGuilmon," Vorvomon said.
"Those are the guys we were told about?" One of the Goblimon asked.
"The same. When I give the signal, we attack," Vorvomon declared. The evil Digimon all waited for their chance to strike.
Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, and the Digimon were enjoying the meal Kairi had prepared. It was spaghetti and meatballs.
"Tasty as always, Kairi," Ventus said.
"Thank you, Ven," Kairi said.
"Man, hits the spot every time," Sora said.
"Always yummy," Agumon said. Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, and Aqua all turned to see that the Digimon all had sauce all over their faecs. Meowth was still eating his plate.
"Very tasty," Veemon said.
Pikachu, Angel, Corvisquire, Moregrem, Riolu, Espeon, Chimchar, Buneary, Pachirisu, Bibarel, Sandshrew, and Vulpix were enjoying the Pokémon food she made, but it was extra special.
The evil Digimon all waited for the right moment to move right in to attack. Vorvomon gave the word.
"Now!" Vorvomon ordered. The evil Digimon all came out of their hiding places and surrounded them quickly.
"What the?!" Sora exclaimed.
"Thought you would be rid of us, did you?" Vorvomon asked. "Well, think again!"
"Not you again!" Sora groaned. Ventus looked at the Blackuilmon and saw how they werent anything like the Guilmon he met before. he took out his Digidex and analyzed them.
"Those aren't Guilmon, but they're BlackGuilmon. Their Rookie level Digimon and they attack with their Virus Breath attack," Ventus said. He took his Digidex and used it on the Goblimon. "And those guys are Goblimon. They're ogre-like Digimon. They're goblin-like Digimon and they're very mean."
"Man, this is what we don't need," Sora said.
"Attack!" Vorvomon ordered.
"Virus Breath!" The BlackGuilmon shouted as they fired virus infected breath attack.
"Goblin Strike!" The Boblimon shouted as they hurled their fireballs at them. The kids and and Pokémon ducked their heads as the rest of the Digimon all launched their counterattack.
"Get them!" Agumon said.
"Don't need to tell me twice!" Wormmon said. The Digimon all duked it out against the Goblimon and BlackGuilmon. Vorvomon flew right at Agumon with his talons out. Agumon ducked his head and jumped in the air.
"Pepper Breath!" Agumon shouted as he fired his breath attack and it struck Vorvomon. The Dracomon Brothers moved right in to attack, but Palmon stepped in.
"Poison Ivy!" Palmon shouted as she sends out her vines and ensares them. She sends them flying and they strike a couple of the BlackGuilmon. Pikachu and Angel joined in the fray and gave some of the Goblimon a shock as Angel fired Swift at the BlackGuilmon. Angel then swings her Iron Tail right at them. Meowth and the rest of the Pokémon join in the fray. A few of the Goblimon came after Agnel, but she darts at them with her Quick Attack and then uses Headbutt on one of them.
They kept on fighting, but they were too many of them. It was turning into a losing fight. And just then, a vortex opens up and a shower of stars came raining down on them. The Goblimon and BlackGuilmon were all struck and they were all dissolved into bits of data. Another one opens and a beam of light is fired and struck Vorvomon and the Dracomon Brothers.
"What happened?" The second Dracomon asked.
"I don't know, but this is not the end! You'll see us again!" Vorvomon declared as he flew off.
"What happened?" Ventus asked.
"I don't know, but I'm glad it's over," Aqua said.
"Me too. And whatever it was, I'm glad it happened," Gomamon said.
"Me too. I don't even want to think about what would happen if it didn't" Hawkmon said.
It is revealed that the attacks came from Pegasusmon and Nefertimon. They couldn't stand by and watch them suffer, so they had to intervene once again.
Several days came and went, so they were making their way to Veilstone City. They did some training along the way. Kairi exchanged Bibarel and Buneary for Happiny and Hattrem. She was getting some pratcice done with her team.
"Okay, Hattrem! Disarming Voice!" Kairi ordered. Hattrem sends out a purple sound wave from her shriek. "Okay, Vulpix! Powder Snow!" Vulpix unleashed Powder Snow and it goes right into the Disarming Voice and combines.
"Kairi's getting her work cut out for her," Gatomon said.
"She wants to be ready just in case of a Double Performance like the one in Hearthrome City," Tentomon said.
"Yeah, that's what Sora said," Wormmon pointed out.
"The same can be said with Sora. He has almost half of his Badges and he's making some great progress," Armadillomon said.
"They're both getting into this," Biyomon said.
"Okay, Moregrem! Play Rough again!" Sora ordered. Moregrem ran towards a tree and started to pound it. "Good work, Moregrem! You'll do great!" Sora patted Moregrem on the head. The imp-like Pokémon grinned at the praise.
After making the long way, they finally made their way to Veilstone City.
"Veilstone City at last," Ventus said.
"It took a while and it was worth it," Sora said.
"You think we can hit the Pokémon Center? I could use a good bath right about now," Meowth said.
"Same here," Aqua said. "And I could rest my feet." The group were starting to head on towards the Pokémon Center for the couple to rest up their Pokémon and until the Gym battle.
They spotted Lucas and Dawn in the Pokémon Center as well.
"Hey, Sora and Kairi!" Lucas said.
"So, did you earn your Gym Bagde yet?" Sora asked.
"No. The Gym Leader is said to do some training for a bit," Lucas said. "And she isn't going to be back until later."
"Well, it was normal for a Gym Leader using Fighting Type Pokémon," Terra said.
"We just got here to rest up," Sora said.
"Us and our Pokémon too," Kairi said.
"You wanna join us for lunch?" Sora asked.
"Sure thing," Lucas said.
Dawn and Lucas joined the couple for lunch. Lucas ended up with a hamburger as Dawn got herself a turkey sandwich on white bread.
"Anything you got planned for your battle, Sora?" Dawn asked.
"Well, Corvisquire, Moregrem, and Espeon are the obvious choice since they're Flying, Psychic, and Fairy Type Pokémon against Fighting Type Pokémon," Sora said.
"That's right, you were on top of that from the word-go," Lucas said.
"What about you, Lucas?" Kairi asked.
"I was thinking of using Staravia and Gligar to go, but I'm fuzzy on the third one," Lucas said.
"That's a good plan," Sora said. "So, how about we flip a coin and decide who is going to go first." He used his coin toss app. "Heads or tails?"
"Um, heads," Lucas said. Sora pressed the coin on the app and the coin flips and it reads heads.
"Heads, I lose," Sora said.
"You may win Pokémon battles, but you lose the coin toss," Ventus joked.
"Ven, that's not funny," Sora scolded.
"Actually that is funny. Jessie would laugh her ass off," Meowth said. He laughed so hard.
"The only thing he would lose other than gardening," Terra said, remembering how he would get out of gardening after his first mishap.
Over in Pallet Town, Delia and Mirei and they were doing some gardening in Delia's garden.
"I enjoy these days we spend with each other, Mirei," Delia said.
"Me too, Delia. It's almost like I have a sister; especially when my mom treated you like another daughter," Mirei said.
"And how your Kairi is good for my Sora," Delia said.
"The same for your Sora is good for my Kairi," Mirei said. She is imagining about it would be nice to have Sora and Kairi with their own kids.
"Still imagining Sora as your son-in-law?" Delia asked.
"Is is that obvious?" Mirei asked.
"It is. And if it helps, I like to think of Kairi as my future daughter-in-law," Delia said. Mirei smiled kindly.
"You're so kind, Delia. Sora is such a nice boy," Mirei said.
"Thank you," Delia said.
Back in Veilstone City, Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Lucas, Dawn, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, and the Digimon left the Pokémon Center to look for Maylene after they ate. They asked where the usual training spot to challenge her. They eventually made it to the spot where Maylene is doing some training with a Meditite, a Machoke, and a Lucario.
"I'm going to guess that's her right there," Sora said. Riolu's Pokéball moves on itself and Riolu comes on on his own. "Riolu? You came out on your own?"
"Rio," Riolu nodded. He looked right at Lucario and he is giving his evolved form respect, so he went up to Lucario.
"Riolu! Come back!" Sora said.
Maylene was sparring with Lucario as Meditite and Machoke sat on the side.
"That was good as usual," Maylene said.
"Cario!" Lucario said.
"Riolu!" Riolu called out. Lucario and Maylene turned to see Riolu standing before them. Lucario looked right at Riolu and sees something special about him.
"Cario?" Lucario asked.
"What's wrong, Lucario?" Maylene asked. Lucario didn't respond as the two of them look right at each other. "So, where did you come from?"
"Riolu is mine," Sora said as he and his freinds went up to the young Gym Leader. "Sorry that my Riolu bothered you."
"That's okay. Just wasn't expecting to be interuppted," Maylane said. "And since this Riolu is yours, I going to guess that you're here for a Gym battle."
"Yeah. But he's going ahead of me," Sora said, pointing to Lucas.
"Oh, is that right? Okay. May I know the names of my challengers?" Maylene asked.
"I'm Lucas," Lucas introduced.
"I'm Sora," Sora introduced.
"So, how about it? Looking forward to the Gym battle," Maylene said. "I'm going to meet you over at the Gym." Reggie shows up and sees the group.
"Looks like another Gym challnege is made," Reggie said. Everyone all turned to Reggie standing there.
"Hey, Reggie. How is the Pokémon breeder's life treating you?" Maylene asked.
"I'm doing great. And I heard about your battle with my little brother and I wanted to ask you about something," Reggie said.
"What?" Maylene asked.
"Don't you think you went to hard on him?" Reggie asked.
"I'm sorry that you feel that way, Reggie, but someone had to put him in his place," Maylene said.
"I understand, Maylene. I'm just concerned because he was in such a mood, even for him," Reggie said.
"I know, I know. You need to tell hi that he needs to keep his cool," Maylene said. She turned to Lucas. "Say, Lucas, isn't it? I'll be over to the Gym if you need me."
"I'll be right over," Lucas said. Maylene took off tprepare for the Gym battle. Reggie turned to the group and eyes Sora and Lucas.
"I know you two. You were in the Hearthrome Tag Battle Tournament. My brother was there as well," Reggie said.
"And you would be?" Sora asked.
"Right. I got to introduce myself. My name's Reggie, and I'm a Pokémon breeder," Reggie said.
"Nice to meet you, Reggie, I'm-" Sora said before Reggie cuts him off.
"I know. You're Sora. And you're Lucas. I was watching you on TV. Sora, you were batling with that one kid with the silver hair," Reggie said.
"You saw all that? I shouldn't be surprised. Anyway, this is my girlfriend Kairi and my cousin Ventus," Sora introduced.
"Hello, Reggie, this is Angel," Kairi itroduced her Eevee.
"Vee," Angel said.
"I'm Terra."
"I'm Aqua."
"And I'm Dawn."
"I'm Agumon."
"I'm Gabumon."
"I'm Veemon."
"I'm Wormmon."
"I'm Biyomon."
"I'm Hawkmon."
"I'm Palmon."
"I'm Tentomon."
"I'm Gomamon."
"I'm Armadillomon."
"I'm Patamon.
"I'm Gatomon."
"Nice to meet you. How would you like to come to my house and we'll talk," Reggie said. Just then, Chimchar came out of his own Pokéball and looked around.
"First, Riolu, and now Chimchar comes out on his own," Sora siad. Chimchar looked right at Reggie and smiled. Chimchar went up to Reggie and he smiles right back at him.
"Hi there, Chimchar. It's good to see you," Reggie said.
"You know my Chimchar?" Sora asked.
"This Chimchar used to be my brother's," Reggie said. The whole group went wide-eyed.
"Wait, your brother is Paul?" Sora asked.
"Yeah," Reggie said. He noticed the shock on their faces. "I can see that you're very shocked by this new bit of information." Reggie led the group to his house.
"How exactly are you brothers? You seem to be very nice," Ventus pointed out.
"Well, the whole difference between us is that I actually care about my Pokémon. People has taken exception to Paul's way of raising Pokémon and they come down on me about it," Reggie explained.
"You'll find that we take exception on that as well, Reggie," Kairi said.
"I noticed. But I gotta admit, that he was surprised to hear that he went up against a Pokémon League Champion right up to when you challenged the Oreburgh Gym Leader into a battle. And how Paul battled you and lost," Reggie said.
"Yeah. He was battling for power and he lost to me that way," Sora said.
"Paul even told me about how you took Chimchar under your wing after he abandoned him. I never did that with any of my Pokémon," Reggie said.
"I can understand that. Paul should know better by now," Aqua said.
"Aqua," Terra said.
"No, Terra. I will honestly say that Paul has no redeeming qualities whatsoever. He doesn't deserve any one of those Pokémon," Aqua said. "Riku was right to call him ignorant right in his face."
"Aqua, you're going to get us thrown out," Sora said.
"No, no, she's just being honest. And I don't blame her for being honest," Reggie said. "But I am concerned about him."
"What he do now? Catch a Ditto and let that one go because he realized that it an only use Transform?" Meowth asked.
"Meowth!" Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, and the Digimon all chided him.
"Pika," Pikachu said.
"Eevee!" Angel added.
"Actually, no. I just noticed that there was a change in him," Reggie said. The group were all looking at him.
"What do you mean?" Armadillomon asked.
"Well lately, he was more agressive than usual. He's even angrier than before. I'm not even sure why he is. And when I asked him about it, he said it was nothing. I don't think it was nothing," Reggie said.
"He did look like he was angered when me and him were up against you and Riku in the final round," Lucas pointed out.
"You sure Paul's not just lashing out? It's normal for something to happen," Sora said.
"If it was just the lashing out part, I wouldn't be so worried so much. I noticed how much his Pokémon had changed along with him," Reggie said.
"What do you mean his Pokémon too?" Gatomon asked.
"Well, I think I should show you what I mean," Reggie said, taking out a Pokéball and he opens it. Paul's Electabuzz came on out and his eyes were blazing red. Everyone were freaked out by what he meant. Reggie calls Electabuzz right back. "See what I mean?"
"We do," Terra said.
"How did it happen?" Ventus asked.
"I wish I knew. If only I had the slightest idea on what happened to them," Reggie said.
"Didn't you go to Nurse Joy about this?" Dawn asked.
"I did and she couldn't figure out what's going on either. So, I kept them contained in their Pokéballs just to play it safe than sorry," Reggie said.
"That's a good call, Reggie. I can get that Paul isn't the nicest guy in the world, but come on," Sora said.
"Tell me about it," Reggie said.
"And since Paul is your brother, didn't he battle Maylene?" Lucas asked.
"Yeah, and when I saw his fist, bleeding, he rubbed it off like it matter to him. I can't put my finger on what's going through his head," Reggie said.
"Now, that's unsual," Biyomon said.
"Anyway, enough about my brother, how about these twelve here," Reggie said, pointing to the Digimon.
"Yeah, about that. They're creatures called Digimon. They came here from the Digital World which is currently in a middle of a huge war going on," Sora explained.
"A war? Why are they here when their world is in war?" Reggie asked.
"Well, an evil Digimon named Myotismon is planning to take over both worlds, but we've been keeping an eye out for evil Digimon when they attacked us," Sora explained.
"We met some of Myotismon's goons on our way over here," Meowth said.
"Sounds to me that you're pretty much used to these sort of things," Reggie pointed out.
"Well, we had our share of adventures, apart from dealing a ghost of a Marowak, Ultra Beasts, and jumping into different dimensions," Sora said.
"Wow," Reggie could only say. "Anyway, Sora, since you're not having your battle right away, I thought maybe you can have a battle with me. I wanna test you out," Reggie proposed.
"You sure, Reggie?" Sora asked.
"I'm sure, Sora. I wanna see what you're made of," Reggie said.
"Okay, I could use a warm up," Sora said.
Both of Sora an Reggie got ready to battle as the rest were sitting on the side.
"Let's make it one-on-one, what do you say?" Reggie asked.
"Sure," Sora said. Reggie took out his first Pokéball and threw it.
"You're up, first, Staraptor!" Reggie called out as his Staraptor came on out. Sora took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Corvisquire!" Sora called out as Corvisquire came out to battle. Sora took out his Pokédex and scanned the Pokémon.

It has a savage nature. It will courageously challenge foes that are much larger. The muscles in its wings and legs are strong. It can easily fly while gripping smaller Pokémon.
"So, that's a Corvisquire. Never seen one of those before," Reggie said. "And judging by how your Corvisquire looks, I would say that you did an excellent job raising it."
"Thanks, Reggie. Let's get this show on the road. How about you make the first move sine it's your house," Sora said.
"Thank you. Staraptor! Steel Wing!" Reggie ordered. Staraptor came flying at the raven Pokémon with its wings giving off a metallic glow.
"Dodge and use Drill Peck!" Sora ordered. Corvisquire dodges Staraptor's Steel Wing and came down at Staraptor and lands a hit onto the predator Pokémon. "Now use Power Trip!" Corvisquire unleashed Power Trip and it heads right towrds Staraptor.
"Use Brave Bird!" Reggie ordered. Staraptor began to come at Corvisquire while surrounded by an orange bird-shaped aura.
"Dodge it, Corvisquire!" Sora called out. Corvisquire flew to avoid Staraptor, but he got hit hard by the attack. Staraptor came too fast for the raven Pokémon to dodge.
"Wow, that was a powerful attack," Veemon said.
"Brave Bird is powerful and it's also risky because it causes recoil damage when it's used," Terra said.
"Use Steel Wing!" Reggie ordered. Staraptor came right at Corvisquire with its wings out while glowing metallically.
"Drill Peck!" Sora ordered. Corvisquire spun around in the air liek a drill and landed a hit onto Staraptor. "Now, use Power Trip!" Corvisquire gave Staraptor another Power Trip on the mark.
"That was great, Sora! The way you battle is proof is that you raised your Pokémon," Reggie complimented. Sora was happy to meet Reggie since he was different from his younger brother in every way.
"Thanks," Sora said. "Corvisquire! Use Drill Peck!" Corvisquire spun around and panded a hit onto Staraptor. Corvisquire kept on coming at Staraptor with incredible speed. "That was great, Corvisquire! Now, use your Air Slash!" Corvisquire flapped his wings and sends it right at the predator Pokémon and went falling down. Staraptor regained its balance and flew right back up.
"My Staraptor isn't going ddown that easily," Reggie stated. "Okay, Staraptor, use Steel Wing!" Staraptor comes at Corvisquire to land a hit.
"Corvisquire! Use Drill Peck!" Sora ordered. Corvisquire spun around into the air and collides with Staraptor. Both bird Pokémon were starting to fall down right to the ground. Corvisquire regained his balance as Staraptor kept on falling and landed on the ground.
"Wow, Staraptor is down! Sora won!" Palmon said.
"That was impressive, Sora. I can see why you're a Pokémon League Champion," Reggie said.
"Thanks, Reggie," Sora said, shaking his hand.
"That was a good battle, you two. Why don't you come with me to the Gym and watch me battle?" Lucas asked.
"Sure thing," Sora said.
"And you don't mind if I cheer for you, Lucas?" Dawn asked. Lucas couldn't help but blush at the offer.
"Sure thing, Dawn, I would appreciate that," Lucas said. Reggie looked right at the two of them.
"Is there some kind of spark going on between them?" Reggie asked.
"Oh, I'll say that there is," Aqua replied. "Dawn told me that she has a thing for Lucas."
"You mean like Sora and Kairi?" Reggie asked.
"Yeah, but before they were a couple," Aqua said.
"What do you mean?" Reggie asked.
"When we first met Sora and Kairi, we thought Sora and Kairi were a couple, but Ven's parents welcomed Kairi with opened arms," Aqua said.
Reggie joined the group to see the Gym battle. Sora took out Riolu to watch the battle as well. Dawn was dressed up in her cheerleader outfit. Maylene was waiting for Lucas to come along.
"Good of you to come along, Lucas. And I can see you came as well, Sora," Maylene said.
"I'm here to support him since he's my friend," Sora stated.
"That's good for friends to come along to support your friends. You are welcome to watch the battle," Maylene said. Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Dawn, Reggie, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, and the Digimon took their seats to watch the battle.
"The battle between the challenger, Lucas from Twinleaf Town and the Gym Leader, Maylene is about to begin! Each trainer will be using three Pokémon! And the challenger is the only one who shall be permitted to substitute Pokémon! The battle shall be over once of either trainer's side is unable to continue battling!" The referee announced.
"This will be good to watch," Sora said.
"Let's see how Paul's old Tag Battle partner handles it," Reggie said.
"Begin the battle!" The referee instructed.
"Machoke! Go!" Maylene called out and the superpower Pokémon came out and flexed its muscles. Lucas took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Staravia! Go!" Lucas called out. Staravia came on out to battle.
"Use Quick Attack!" Lucas ordered as Staravia came at Machoke with its speed attack.
"Machoke! Use Rock Slide!" Maylene ordered. Machoke sends out Rock Slide right at the starling Pokémon. Staravia got hit by the rocks coming down.
"Rock Slide?" Tentomon asked.
"Rock Slide is a Rock Type attack. And Flying Types are weak against Rock Type attacks. A good defense," Sora said.
"One of the good times to wear a hard hat," Meowth said.
"Now, use Brick Break!" Maylene ordered. Machoke comes at Staravia with Brick Break.
"Dodge it!" Lucas ordered. Staravia avoids Brick Break by flying on the left and right. Machoke was getting faster with each Brick Break attack.
"Great, now use Seismic Toss!' Maylene ordered. Machoke comes at Staravia to grab it.
"Staravia! Quick Attack!" Lucas ordered. Staravia avoids Machoke's Quick Attack and lands a hit onto it. Maylene gasped when she saw that. "Now, use Aerial Ace!" Staravia comes down at Machoke and lands a direct hit onto the superpower Pokémon.
"Wow, that was awesome!" Ventus said.
"The speed was doubled when Staravia used Quick Attack before Aerial Ace," Kairi said. Machoke fell to the ground beaten.
"Machoke is unable to battle! Staravia wins!" The referee announced.
"Way to go, Staravia!" Lucas praised. Maylene calls Machoke back.
"Wow, you worked really hard, Machoke. Now you deserve a good rest," Maylene said. She looked right at Lucas. "And you, Lucas, the way you switched from Quick Attack to Aerial Ace. I'm impressed."
"Thanks," Lucas said. Maylene took out her next Pokéball.
"Now, it's time to bring out my second Pokémon!" Maylene said. She threw it. "All right then! Meditite! You're up!" She threw it and Meditite came on out.
"Staravia! Aerial Ace!" Lucas ordered. Staravia came at Meditite with Aerial Ace, but she was expecting that.
"Use Detect!" Maylene ordered. Meditite uses it to avoid Staravia's Aerial Ace.
"Wha?!" Everyone exclaimed.
"I thought Aerial Ace can't be dodged!" Gabumon said.
"That's true. But there are ways around them. Detect can be used to avoid any attack. It works the same way as Protect," Reggie said. "Meditate!" Meditite began to meditate and its body became surrounded by a white aura.
"Aerial Ace again!" Lucas ordered. Staravia comes at Meditite with Aerial Ace.
"Detect!" Maylene ordered. Meditite dodges Staravia's attack again. "Use Meditate!" Meditite uses editate again. "Now, use Thunder Punch!" Meditite comes at Staravia and lands a punch.
"Thunder Punch must be how she deals with Flying Types as well," Terra said.
"Those Gym Leaders can make it hard for challengers," Veemon said.
"Staravia! Quick Attack!" Lucas ordered. Staravia comes at Meditite with its speed.
"Thunder Punch!" Maylene ordered. Meditite comes at Staravia with Thunder Punch and lands another punch. Lucas calls back his Staravia. "Now, use Confusion!" Meditite uses Confusion on the starling Pokémon and Staravia became confused.
"Go right in, Gligar!" Lucas called out as Gligar came out to battle.
"That's a good choice to switch Staravia with Gligar. Meditite's Thunder Punch has no effect on Gligar since being a Ground Type," Sora said.
"Also Staravia is no longer confused since being being called back," Kairi added.
"Wing Attack!" Lucas ordered. Gligar came at Meditite with its speed attack.
"Detect!" Maylene ordered. Meditite attempted to avoid Gligar's Wing Attack, but got struck by Meditite. "Oh no!"
"Now, use Slash!" Lucas ordered. Gligar came at the meditate Pokémon and swiped right at Meditite.
"Your Gligar has some impressive speed. But my Meditite isn't going to down that easily! Use Confusion!" Meditite uses Confusion and brought Gligar down and became confused by Meditite's Confusion. Lucas calls Gligar back and threw Staravia's Pokéball. "Come back out, Staravia!" Staravia came back out to battle. "Use Brave Bird!" Staravia came at Meditite with incredible speed and power.
"Cofusion again!" Maylene ordered. Meditite attempts to use Confusion, but is unable to do so. "Oh no!"
"Staravia lands a successful hit onto Meditite and fell on its back, beaten.
"Meditite's unable to battle! Staravia wins!" The referee announced.
"Way to go, Staravia!" Lucas praised.
"Maylene is down to one and Lucas didn't lose one at all," Patamon said.
"And I have a good idea on who is it going to be," Sora said. He looked over to Riolu and he was waiting for the moment of truth. Maylene calls Meditie back.
"Meditite, thanks for your hard work," Maylene said, taking out her third Pokéball. "That was amazing, Lucas. Your Pokémon all work well! You should be so proud!" Maylene said.
"Thanks, Maylene! You did great too!" Lucas said. Maylene took out her third Pokéball.
"So now, it's time for my third Pokémon!" Maylene said. She threw her Pokéball. "Lucario! Come on out!"
"Lucario," Lucario said.
"i was hoping it was Lucario next. Staravia! Use Brave Bird!" Lucas ordered. Staravia flew right at Lucario with speed and power.
"Use Metal Claw!" Maylene ordered. Lucario swipes at Staravia with Metal Claw and knocks out Staravia.
"Staravia is unable to battle! Lucario wins!" The referee announced.
"He put too much fate into Brave Bird," Reggie said.
"It was a risky move," Hawkmon said.
"Lucario, excellent as always," Maylene said.
"Cario," Lucario said. Lucas took out Gligar's Pokéball and threw it.
"Back out, Gligar!" Lucas called out.
"Since Gligar is a Ground Type, Lucario is at a disadvantage," Terra said. "Then again..."
"Gligar! Slash!" Lucas ordered. Gligar came at Lucario with his pincers ready to go.
"Dodge and use Force Palm!" Maylene ordered. Lucario lands a Force Palm onto Gligar. "Now use Aura Sphere!" Lucario uses Aura Sphere and it struck Gligar on the mark.
"Ooh, that's got to hurt," Meowth said.
"Now, use Metal Claw!" Maylene ordered. Lucario came at the fly scorpion Pokémon and lands a brutal blow on it. Gligar came down hard.
"Gligar is unable to battle! Lucario wins!" The referee announced. Lucas calls Gligar back and he looked right at his Pokéball.
"You did good, Gligar," Lucas said. He looked at Lucario and knew right away on which one to use. He took out Growlithe's Pokéball. "You're up, Growlithe!" He threw it and Growlithe came on out. "Grolwithe! Flamethrower!" The puppy Pokémon fires its Flamethrower right at the aura Pokémon.
"Aura Sphere!" Maylene ordered. Lucario fires Aura Sphere to block Flamethrower. It cuts right through an struck the puppy Pokémon.
"Wow, that's some Aura Sphere," Meowth said.
"Aura Sphere never misses," Sora said.
"Now, use Bone Rush!" Maylene ordered. Lucario came at Growlithe with Bone Rush to strike it. Growlithe dodges Lucario's Bone Rush.
"Good dodging, Growltihe!" Lucas praised.
"Don't be so sure!" Maylene grinned. Lucario gave Growlithe a wipe with Bone Rush.
"Oh no!" Lucas gasped.
"Now, use Metal Claw!" Maylene ordered. Lucario came at Growlithe with Metal Claw.
"Dodge and use Flame Charge!" Lucas ordered. Growlithe charged into Lucario with Flame Charge. Growlithe's speed rose up. "Now use Fire Fang!" Growlithe came at Lucario with Fire Fang.
"Bone Rush!" Maylene ordered. Lucario blocks with Bone Rush, but Growltihe took a bite on the bone. Lucario gets close to Growlithe. "Uh-oh."
"Force Palm!" Maylene ordered. Lucario pushes Growlithe with Force Palm.
"Flame Charge!" Lucas ordered. Growlithe came at Lucario with incredible speed. Growlithe lands a hit onto Lucario. "Now use Flamethrower! Full power!" Growlithe fires its most powerful Flamethrower and it came too quick for Lucario to dodge or block and has earned Lucario had been knocked out.
"Lucario is unable to battle! Growlithe wins! The winner is the challenger, Lucas!" The referee announced. Maylene was at awe when she saw this. She calls her Lucario back and smiled. Riolu was watching the whole time and was at awe with Lucario's strength. Maylene walks up to Lucas with a smile on her face.
"Congratulations on your win, Lucas. The way you battled has really impressed me. So, I'm going to give you this, the Cobble Badge," Maylene said, presenting him a badge that is reminiscent of bricks or a tatami mat. Lucas accepts his third Gym Badge.
"Thanks," Lucas said.
"Way to go, you two!" Sora said, smiling. Maylane turned to Sora.
"Sora, I'm looking forward for our battle tomorrow," Maylene said. She turned to Riolu. "And I hope you'll be watching it too, Riolu." The emanation Pokémon nodded, getting anxious to watch it.
"Just know that I won't be pulling any punches with you," Maylene said.
"I wouldn't dream of it," Sora said.
And with that settled, the battle between Sora and Maylene s just around the corner. And who knows what will happen by then. Will Sora earn his fourth Gym Badge and make it half way to enter the Sinnoh Pokémon League or will he fall despite all of his hard work. Just you wait and see.
I was originally going to make it one chapter, but I figured I would break it down into two chapters. But I promise that it will be pretty epic just like the last time. So, Sora will be using Moregrem, Corvisquire, and Espeon. Just wait and see what happens next.
