Episode 359: Come What Maylene
Where we last left off, Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, and the Digimon saw Lucas and Dawn off as they went on ahead first to his Gym Battle. Along the way, they were ambushed by Vorvomon, the Dracomon Brothers, and a horde of Goblimon and BlackGuilmon, which turned into a losing fight, but they were saved by an unexpected source it being Pegasusmon and Nefertimon. Upon arriving, they met Lucas and Dawn at the Pokémon Center to discuss their battle plans since Maylene was out doing some training with her Pokémon. Lucas won the coin toss and challenged her first. And then, the group meets Paul's older brother Reggie and they saw how different he was from his younger brother. Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, and the Digimon shared their past experiences with him and the first battle against the arrogant trainer, but Reggie shared his worries for his younger brother and about how his aggression is very unusual, even for him. Reggie challenged Sora to a battle to test him out, only to find that Sora has exceeded his expectations. Afterwards, Lucas had his battle against Maylene with Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Dawn, Reggie, Pikachu, Angel, Riolu, and the Digimon all watching the battle. Lucas has managed to take down her Machoke and Meditite without losing his two Flying Types, but Flying over Fighting didn't cut it against Lucario. Lucas's Growlithe has managed to bring home the gold for Lucas despite an intense battle, earning Lucas his third Gym Badge. Now, Sora will have his chance to battle Maylene and earn his fourth Gym Badge. And now, the battle that we all came here to see.
Everyone all headed for the Pokémon Center to celebrate Lucas's victory. Dawn was especially proud of her crush.
"That was good, Lucas. You did a whole lot better than the first time," Sora said.
"Thanks a lot, Sora. And I wanna wish you luck for Gym battle," Lucas said.
"You're not going to be there watching me?" Sora asked.
"Lucas wants to try to challenge Fantina into a Gym battle again, so he wants to get an early start in the morning," Dawn said.
"Well, if that's what you wanna do, then I'll wish you luck in your battle," Sora said.
"Thanks, Sora. And I'm going to win the Relic Badge for the both of us," Lucas said. Both trainers hoped that she was going to be there that time and not end up disappointed again.
Over to Maylene, she was getting some training done after her three Fighting Type Pokémon have healed. Maylene sparring with Lucario once again as Meditate was sparring with Machoke. After a few hours of training, Maylene wipes off some sweat and drinks some bottled water.
"That's quite a workout, guys. You're going to do just fine in our battle against Sora," Maylene said. Her Pokémon all agreed with her. "I'm looking forward in seeing what kind of Pokémon he'll be using, so we're going to give it everything we got."
"Cario!" Lucario said.
"Machoke," Machoke said.
"Meditite," Meditite said.
"I like your spirit. We'll need that in our battle tomorrow," Maylene said.
"Cario!" Lucario said.
"That's enough training for no. Let's get some rest and prepare for the match," Maylene said.
Back at the Pokémon Center, Sora was doing some training of his own. He wanted to play it safe than sorry.
"Okay, Espeon! Use Psybeam! Moregrem! Play Rough! Corvisquire! Drill Peck!" Sora ordered. Espeon fires Psybeam as Moregrem uses Play Rough and Corvisquire uses Drill Peck. "Good work, guys!" The Pokémon beamed at the compliment. He stroke his chin. "Hm, maybe, I can use go with Moregrem first and then maybe Corvisquire arfterwards. And I'll save Espeon for last." Espeon understood and nodded. Kairi, Ventus, Pikachu, Angel, and the Digimon were watching him train.
"Sora is sure getting into this," Patamon said.
"After that battle we watched earlier, it's no wonder," Tentomon said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Eevee," Angel added.
"I know, did you see how amazing it was?" Veemon asked.
"We did, we were all there," all the Digimon except Veemon all said.
"Oh yeah," Veemon said. Everyone all laughed at his expense. "Hey!"
"Got ya, Veemon," Armadillomon teased.
"Wasn't funny," Veemon pouted.
"Yes it was," Hawkmon said.
"Your reaction was priiceless," Gatomon said, laughing.
"Okay, enough of making fun of Veemon, we should talk about how Sora is going to win his Gym battle," Agumon said.
"I think you're right, Agumon. Sora got Espeon since he's a Psychic Type, isn't that right, Kairi?" Biyomon asked.
"Yes, that's exactly right," Kairi said.
"Why doesn't Sora just use Espeon all the way through?" Wormmon suggested.
"It's not that easy. We all saw how it was. Maylene has ways of avoided it," Palmon said.
"You mean with Detect? That can be irritating in a battle," Gabumon said.
"Yeah, We saw how she was able to get around Lucas's Staravia with Rock Slide and Thunder Punch," Gomamon said.
"And isn't Lucario a Steel Type Pokémon? And aren't Steel Types weak againt Fairy Types?" Armadillomon asked.
"No, it's the other way around," Kairi said.
"You mean that Steel Type Pokémon are strong against Fairy Type Pokémon," Wormmon said.
"Oh yeah," Armadillomon said.
"But let's all root for him all the way," Gatomon said.
"That's right, Gatomon. That's what I had in mind from the start," Kairi said. "And we can give Sora such a good cheer!" Kairi said.
"Yeah!" The Digimon all cheered.
Over to Ventus, Terra, Aqua, and Meowth, they were in the room they were sharing with Sora and Kairi as Ventus and Meowth were fast asleep. Terra and Aqua watched him sleep innocently as Aqua rubbed his hair.
"Ven is so sweet when he's sleeping," Aqua said.
"He sure is," Terra agreed.
"So, you think Lucas and Dawn make a good pair?" Aqua asked.
"Yeah. It's very obvious that those two are wild about each other. Remember when how Sora and Kairi were awkward with each other when we met them?" Terra asked.
"Of course I do. They couldn't fool Ven's mom," Aqua said. "I can't help but think the same about Riku and Naminé, Jessie and James, Ethan and Kris or Brendan and May. Also, Tai and Sara, Matt and Mimi, Ken and Yolei, and TK and Kari."
"Seems like everyone's getting hooked up except us," Terra said.
"It seems that way," Aqua agreed. "And you may think this is funny, but people might say that we're a couple."
"And how would that be funny?" Terra asked. Aqua froze when she said that to him.
"I don't know. I was just thinking out loud, I think. But you gotta admit, I can't help but feel envious towards them," Aqua said.
"Envious? You? No," Terra asked.
"Yes," Aqua said. "Have you ever felt like you could use some love in your life like Sora and Kairi does?"
Terra sighed as he ran his hair through his hair, "Come to think of it, I have thought of it, but I often worry about that it wouldn't work out. Between me or someone else."
"Well, I think any girl woud be lucky to have a guy like you, Terra," Aqua said. Terra looked right at the bluenette.
"You think so?" Terra asked.
"I know so, Terra. I mean, you're strong and kind," Aqua said. Terra smiled. Aqua blushed as she smiled. "And you're very handsome."
"Thank you, Aqua. You're also kind and honest. And you're very beautiful. I have always thought that about you since we met," Terra said. Aqua smiled.
"Same. And there's one more thing I want to say to you, Terra," Aqua said. Terra became curious to what he had to say.
"What is it, Aqua?" Terra asked.
"The truth is, I actually love you, Terra," Aqua admitted. Terra was shocked to hear it.
"I love you too, Aqua," Terra admitted. Aqua smiled. "You think we could be comeplete this with a kiss like Sora and Kairi did?" Aqua blushed and nodded. Terra moved his face forward as did Aqua. They pressed their lips aginast each other's and held that kiss. Aqua wrapped her arms around Terra's back and he did the same thing. They parted lips as they blushed. They crawled into bed and fell asleep. Sora, Kairi, Pikachu, Angel, and the Digimon all came back in the room as they all started to fall asleep as well.
Over to Lucas, he and Dawn parted ways as Dawn left to compete in more Pokémon Contests and he went to try his luck at the Hearthrome City Gym. Along the way, he bumped into Barry.
"Hey, Barry. It's been a while," Lucas said.
"Back at you," Barry said. "How did you do in your Veilstone City battle?"
"It wasn't easy, but I got my Gym Badge. How about you? You try the Hearthrome City Gym again?" Lucas asked.
"Yeah, but she wasn't there again. So, I'm heading to Veilstone City to try my luck there. How many Badges do you have right now?" Barry asked.
"Three. And since Fantia's not back yet, where do you think I go from Veilstone City?" Lucas asked.
"You can try your luck at the Pastoria City. I heard that the Gym Leader there goes by Crasher Wake and he ues Water Type Pokémon," Barry said.
"I might as well turn aound and head there now. And thanks, buddy," Lucas said.
"Anytime, Lucas. And knock 'em dead," Barry said. Lucas turns back around and heads back to Veilstone City to try his luck there.
On the very next day, Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, and the Digimon all headed down to the Gym for the Gym battle to begin. Kairi and the female Digimon all wore cheerleader outfits to support Sora in the battle. Angel, Hattrem, Sandshrew, Vulpix, Happiny, and Pachirisu all wore cheerleader outfits as well. Riolu was let out of his Pokéball as well.
"Biyomon, why are you, Palmon, and Gatomon all dressed like that?" Agumon asked.
"It was Kairi's idea actually. She thought it was a good idea for us to give a special cheer, remember?" Biyomon asked.
"Oh yeah," Agumon said.
They entered the Gym to see Maylene waiting for them.
"Well, if it isn't it Sora? I was starting to get impatient. Are you in a rush to lose?" Maylene asked.
"Don't be so sure so quick, Maylene. I don't plan on turning back," Sora said.
"That's what I wanna hear," Maylene said.
"The battle between the challenger, Sora from Pallet Town and the Gym Leader, Maylene is about to begin! Each trainer will be using three Pokémon! And the challenger is the only one who shall be permitted to substitute Pokémon! The battle shall be over once of either trainer's side is unable to continue battling!" The referree announced. Maylene took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Meditite!" Maylene calle dout as Her Meditite entered the battlefield. Sora grinned.
"I knew she was going to start things up with Meditite! So, here's my move! Moregrem! Go!" Sora called out as he took out a Pokéball and threw it. Moregrem came out to the battlefield as well.
"Good choice on sending out Moregrem first. Meditite's Confusion won't have any effect on Moregrem because he's a Dark Type Pokémon!" Ventus said.
"True. And sine Moregrem is also a Fairy Type, this will be a good matchup," Meowth said.
"Moregrem! Use Play Rough!" Sora ordered. Moregrem came right at Meditie to land a blow, but Maylene was expecting this.
"Meditite! Detect!" Maylene ordered. Meditite uses Detect to dodge Moregrem's attack. Sora knew it would have been too easy for Moregrem to land a blow. "Now, use Thunder Punch!" Meditite came at Moregrem to land a hit.
"Use False Surrender!" Sora ordered. Moregrem pretended to surrender making Meditite drops its guard. Moregrem uses his hair to spear at Meditite. The meditate Pokémon took a bad hit from the attack.
"Not bad, Sora, but is it good enough?" Maylene asked. "Meditite! Use Meditate!" Meditite starts to meditate and became surrounded by a white aura.
"Moregrem! Use Dark Pulse!" Sora ordered. Moregrem fires Dark Pulse right at Meditite.
"Detect!" Maylene ordered. Meditite uses it to dodge Moregrem's Dark Pulse. "Use Meditate again!" Meditite meditates some more to build up its strength.
"Flase Surrender!" Sora ordered. Moregrem came at Meditite to land his attack.
"Detect!" Maylene ordered. Meditite uses it to dodge False Surrender. "Now use Thunder Punch!" Meditite came right at Moregrem to land a Thunder Punch.
"Dodge it!" Sora called out. Moregrem tried to avoid Meditite's Thunder Punch, but it came out too strong and fast to dodge. Moregrem fell on his stomach, but he barley got back up on his feet.
"Moregrem is still holding on after taking that Thunder Punch. How much longer does Meditite keep giving Moregrem some hits?" Veemon asked.
"I would say not long and his Dark Type against Psychic Type strategy would be flushed," Agumon asked.
"Thunder Punch on more time!" Maylene ordered. Meditite came at Moregrem to land another Thunder Punch onto the devious Pokémon.
"Play Rough!" Sora ordered. Moregrem came at Meditite again and started to pummel it senseless. Moregrem gave Meditite once more smack and send it flying in the air and lands on its back. Meditite had been taken down.
"Meditite is unable to battle! Moregrem wins!" The referee announced.
"Way to go, Moregrem!" Sora praised. Moregrem turned and nodded as he grinned. And then, he started to evolve, much to everyone's surprise.
"Moregrem is evolving!" Meowth said. Moregrem had now become a Grimmsnarl. The newly evolved Grimmsnarl gave off a loud roar in his victory over Meditite.
"Wow, that was amazing! I wasn't expecting your Moregrem to evolve," Maylene said. She calls Meditite back. "Thank you, Meditite. You fought hard." She took out her next Pokéball and threw it.
"Your turn, Machoke!" Maylene called out as Machoke came on out to battle. Sora took out Grimmsnarl's Pokéball and used it to call Grimmsnarl back and took out hi next Pokéball.
"Your turn now, Corvisquire!" Sora called out as the raven Pokémon came out to battle.
"So now it's a Flying Type. That's some good planning you did, Sora. But you know my Machoke can use Rock Slide, right?" Maylene reminded her challenger.
"I didn't forget! And I'm ready for it! Corvisquire! Use Drill Peck!" Sora ordered. Corvisquire comes at the superpower Pokémon while spinning around.
"Block it by using Brick Break!" Maylene ordered. Machoke swings its arm at the raven Pokémon and blocks Corvisquire's Drill Peck.
"She used Brick Break to block?!" Gomamon exclaimed.
"That's exactly what she did!" Kairi said. "But that's okay, because he can do it!"
"Yeah!" The female Digimon all said, doing a cheer.
"Machoke! Use Rock Slide!" Maylene ordered. Machoke sends out Rock Slide to pelt Corvisquire.
"Air Slash!" Sora ordered. Corvisquire uses his Air Slash to cut the rocks into dust. "Now use Power Trip!" Corvisquire sends out Power Trip and it struck Machoke. It did little damage to the superpower Pokémon.
"Sora should know that Dark Type attacks don't have that much effect of Fighting Types," Aqua said.
"What is he planning?" Wormmon asked.
"I think he was throwing her off," Agumon said.
"That sounds like something he'd do," Patamon said.
"Machoke! Seismic Toss!" Maylene ordered. Machoke comes at Corvisquire.
"Air Slash!" Sora ordered. Covisquire fires Air Slash at Machoke and it skids backwards. Corvisquire then started to evolve. "Two evolutios in one battle!" Corvisquire had now become a Corviknight. "Corvisquire is now a Corviknight! And that means, Corviknigt learned some new moves. Corviknight! Steel Wing!" Corviknight came flying at Machoke with his wings out.
"Brick Break!" Maylene ordered. Machoke came at Corviknight with Brick Break to land a hit.
"Use Brave Bird!" Sora ordered. Coriknight unleashes Brave Bird and came at Machoke and lands a hit. Machoke had been taken down as Corviknight suffered some recoil damage.
"Machoke is unable to battle! Corviknight wins!" The referee announced.
"Another evolution in the same battle? This isn't what I was expected. She calls Machoke back. "Thank you, Machoke. You deserve a good long rest." She took out her third Pokéball. "Here is my third and last Pokémon." She looked over to Riolu. "I hope you're enjoying this, Riolu. It's twice in a row that you're witnessing Lucario's power."
"You still up, Corviknight?" Sora asked.
"Corvi," Corviknight replied.
"Good. Now use Brave Bird!" Sora ordered. Corviknight comes at Lucario to land a Brave Bird onto it.
"Dodge!" Maylene called out as Lucario easily avoids Corviknight. "Now, use Aura Sphere!" Lucario unleashes Aura Sphere and it struck Corviknight hard.
"Use Steel Wing!" Sora ordered. Corviknight comes at Lucario again.
"Use Force Palm!" Maylene ordered as Lucario uses Force Palm onto Corvinkight and he fell on his back beaten.
"Corviknight is unable to battle! Lucario wins!" The referee announced.
"Looks like Maylene's starting to make a comeback, just like she did with Lucas," Armadillomon said.
"Let's see how long that lasts," Gatomon said. Sora calls back his Corviknight and he took out his next Pokéball and threw it.
"Grimmsnarl! Back to action!" Sora called out.
"This is what I was afraid of," Terra said.
"Grimmsnarl is a Fairy Type and Lucario is a Steel Type," Agumon said.
"Use Spirit Break!" Sora ordered. Grimmsnarl came at Lucario with a force of his body. His body was glowing a dark pink aura.
"Force Palm!" Maylene ordered. Lucario came at Grimmsnarl with Force Palm and lands a hit onto the bulk up Pokémon.
"Grimmsnarl! Power-Up Punch!" Sora ordered. Grimmsnarl came at Lucario to land a punch. Grimmsnarl lands a ounch onto Lucario and his attack power went up.
"Yes! Power-Up Punch increases from every time it is used!" Ventus said.
"Let's go, Grimmsnarl, let's go!" Kairi, Biyomon, Palmon, and Gatomon cheered. Angel, Pachirisu, Sandshrew, Vulpix, Hattrem, and Happiny were also cheering hard.
"Grimmsnarl! Spirit Break!" Sora ordered. Grimmsnarl ran towards Lucario to land a hit.
"Metal Claw!" Maylene ordered. Lucario swipes at Grimmsnarl with Metal Claw. Grimmsnarl held on as he still stood on his feet.
"Use Play Rough!" Sora ordered. Grimmsnarl came at Lucario to land a hit.
"Metal Claw!" Maylene ordered and landed a swipe of Metal Claw. Grimmsnarl fell to the ground betaen.
"Grimmsnarl is unable to battle! Lucario wins!" The referee aanounced.
"Now, both have one Pokémon left to use," Meowth said.
"I'm going to guess this is going to go either way," Tentomon said.
"We better watch and see," Palmon said. Sora calls back Grimmsnarl and looked right at his Pokéball.
"Okay, this will be your very first battle so far, so let's see how well you'll do in this," Sora said. "Go! Espeon!" He threw it and Espeon came on out to battle.
"First a Fairy Type, then a Flying Type, and now a Psychic Type. You came full prepared for this," Maylene said.
"Thanks Maylene. Espeon is very ready to go at it with your Lucario. And I'll do that right now. Espeon! Use Psybeam!" Sora ordered. Espeon fired Psybeam right at Lucario.
"Aura Sphere!" Maylene ordered. Lucario forms Aura Sphere in its hands and sends it right at Espeon. It cuts through Espeon's Psybeam and it struck Espeon on the mark. Espeon took a bad hit from Aura Sphere but he stood his ground.
"Espeon! Use Psychic Fangs!" Sora ordered. Espeon came at Lucario with psychic energy on his teeth.
"Bone Club!" Maylene ordered. Lucario came at Espeon with a bone made of blue energy and smacks Espeon. "Now use Metal Claw!" Lucario came at Espeon and swipes its claws at the sun Pokémon.
"Morning Sun!" Sora ordered. Espeon gave out a cry and the whole battlefield lit up and Espeon recovered from his injuries. "Now use Psychic!" Espeon uses Psychic on the aura Pokémon and lifted Lucario in the air.
"Aura Sphere!" Maylene ordered. Lucario forms Aura Sphere and sends it out towards Espeon and lands a hit onto Espeon. Lucario lands on its feet. "Now use Metal Claw!" Lucario heads towards the sun Pokémon with Metal Claw.
"Dodge and use Psychic Fangs!" Sora ordered. Espeon avoids Lucario's Metal Claw and lands a bite onto Lucario. "Now use Psybeam!" Espeon fires at Psybeam at Lucario and lands a hit onto it.
"Force Palm!" Maylene ordered. Lucario heads towards Espeon and lands a Force Palm and sets Espeon back. Espeon became parazlyzed by Force Palm. Lucario then becomes paralyzed as well. The both of them lets out static fro their bodies.
"What just happened to Lucario?" Gabumon asked.
"Espeon got paralyzed thanks to Force Palm, but Espeon's ability is Synchronize," Terra said.
"What's Synchronize?" Patamon asked.
"Synchronize is an ability that Espeon and Umbreon share. When Espeon is either paralyzed, poisoned, or burned, Synchronize passes the afflication onto the one who causes them," Terra said.
"But Fire Type Pokémon won't get burnt, Electric Type Pokémon won't get paralyzed, and Poison Type won't get poisoned, unless a Pokémon has the ability is Corrision," Kairi said.
"Espeon's Synchronize passed its paralysis onto Lucario. Now the both if them are paralyzed and won't be able to move so much," Maylene said.
"Espeon! Use Morning Sun!" Sora ordered. Espeon gave off a sunny glow and heals himself from his injuries. Espeon had fully recovered. "Psychic!" Espeon was trying to use Psychic, but is having trouble due to his paralysis.
"Lucario! Aura Sphere!" Maylene ordered. Lucario tried to use Aura Sphere, but didn't do that because of its paralysis.
"Both didn't move," Veemon said.
"A Pokémon that is paralyzed can sometimes have trouble moving," Ventus said.
"Psychic Fangs!" Sora ordered. Espeon came at Lucario with Psychic Fangs.
"Bone Rush!" Maylene ordered. Lucario came at Espeon with Bone Rush and lands a hit on the side of his head. "Now ue Metal Claw!" Lucario swipes at Espeon again.
"Morning Sun!" Sora ordered. Espeon uses Morning Sun and recovers from his injuries. "Use Psychic Fangs!" Sora called out as Epseon heads right towards Lucario.
"Bone Rush!" Maylene ordered. Lucario heds right towards Espeon to land a hit. Espeon dodges Bone Rush and lands a hit with Psychic Fangs. Sora was amazed by the speed and power of his Espeon. Espeon lands Psychic Fangs onto Lucario and Bone Rush disappeared. "Shake Espeon off!" Lucario swings its arm and gets Espeon off of its arm. "Use Aura Sphere!" Lucario forms Aura Sphere and hurls it right at Espeon.
"Psychic! Sora ordered. Espeon uses Psychic to block Aura Sphere and holds on. Espeon sends Aura Sphere right back at Lucario.
"Aura Sphere again!" Maylene ordered. Lucario blocks its own Aura Sphere with another Aura Sphere. An explosion occurs between the two. Sora figured he could use the smoke to cover Espeon, but then he remembered Lucario's ability to see into the aura of other creatures. Psychic!" Espeon uses Psychic onto Lucario and lifted it up in the air.
"Lucario!" Maylene called out. "Try to use Aura Sphere again!" Lucario attempts to use Aura Sphere, but has a hard time doing so because of its paralysis. "Oh no!"
"Espeon! Send Lucario down!" Sora called out. Espeon sends Lucario slamming ont the ground. "Now use Psybeam!" Espeon fires Psybeam right at Lucario. The aura Pokémon gets back up on its feet. Everyone were anxious to see if Lucario can still keep going. Lucario stood there for a few moments before Lucario eventually fell back on the ground, beaten.
"Lucario is unable to battle! Espeon wins! The victory goes to the challenger, Sora from Pallet Town!" The referee announced. Kairi, her Pokémon, and the female Digimon all cheered as they threw up their pom-poms in the air.
"Way to go, Sora and Espeon!" Kairi cheered as she went up to her boyfriend and gave him a deserved hug. Maylene went up to her Lucario.
"You okay, Lucario?" Maylene asked.
"Lucario," Lucario responded.
"You did your best and that's all that matters. You battled hard and that's all I can ask from you," Maylene said. Lucario smiled, feeling better about losing to Sora's Espeon. Maylene went up to Sora with a smile on her face. "That was amazing, Sora. I got to tell you, you're one of the toughest trainers I have ever battled."
"Thanks, Maylene. You're one of the toughest Gym Leaders I ever battled too," Sora said. He shook her hand. Maylene took out the Cobble Badge for Sora to have.
"Thank you. And as proof of your victory here in the Veilstone City Gym, I'm giving you the Cobble Badge," Maylene said. Sora accepts his Gym Badge.
"Thanks. Four down, four to go," Sora said.
"That means you're halfway to meeting your goal," Maylene said.
"Yeah," Sora said.
"So now that Sora has four Gym Badges, where would he have to earn his next Badge?" Ventus asked.
"Sora's next challenge is over in Pastoria City. The Gym Leader there is called Crasher Wake and he uses Water Type Pokémon. And let me tell you, he's one of the toughest Gym Leaders you're going to battle in Sinnoh," Maylene said.
With that done, Sora, Kairi, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Pikachu, Angel, Meowth, Riolu, and the Digimon all returned to the Pokémon Center to heal up Espeon, Grimmsnarl, and Corviknight. Reggie comes by to check on Sora's progress.
"So, how'd it go?" Reggie asked.
"It was tough. Those Pokémon of Maylene's were nothing to sneeze that and I already knew that when I watched Lucas battle," Sora said.
"From what I heard, Paul had a tough time with her. Also, he's heading for Pastoria City right now," Reggie said.
"I figured that he would be using his Electabuzz and Torterra since they can deal with Water Types," Sora stated.
"Speaking of which, when you see him, won't you try to talk to him? I'm just worried about him," Reggie said. Sora knew trying to talk with Paul would be like talking to a brick wall, but he had to give it a try at least.
"Sure. I'll do my best to speak with him. Just don't expect any miracles, because I don't wanna get your hopes for nothing," Sora said.
"I know. But, I'm only asking this of you because I trust you," Reggie said. Sora sighed because he knew he wasn't going to like it one bit, but he had to bite the bullet and do it.
"Okay, Reggie. I'll do my best," Sora said, making that promise.
Over to Paul, hemakes his way to Pastoria City for his next Gym battle, but he's unaware of Myotismon's bats in the area. Myotismon's evil laughter is heard.
