enniec123 asked: established klaroline and klaus is a werewolf at hogwarts and its the first time shes helping him with a full moon
"You don't have to come, you know."
Rolling her eyes, Caroline continued rifling through her bag to make sure she had enough chocolate for the next morning. "And yet, I am."
Klaus, growing more jittery with every passing hour, just snapped, "I don't want to hurt you."
"McGonagall helped me to design the room so we'd both be safe." She knew better than to bicker with him in such a state, but she wasn't going to back down either. "Please, let me be there for you. No more going it alone in the Forest, alright?"
With a pained grimace, he wouldn't meet her eyes. Shame flushed down his neck, and it took everything in her to ignore it rather than to embarrass him further. Admittedly, her initial reaction had been poor - not because her boyfriend was a werewolf, but that he'd felt the need to keep it to himself.
Completely prepared to go toe-to-toe with the Headmistress over supporting all students and their needs, she was relieved that McGonagall had been just as appalled at how she neglected to notice his condition. With special excuses to be out of bed all night, they were granted permission to use the Room of Requirement to give Klaus a safe outlet for his wolf.
Of course, it came with the strict disclaimer that Caroline's permission would be revoked at the first sign of funny business. Too concerned for his ragged weariness, she agreed without hesitation.
Not that it stopped Klaus from trying to talk her out of watching his transition. "What if you helped me get settled, then come back in the morning?"
"What if we try this first, then discuss another plan if it doesn't work out?" His expression was flat, mostly unimpressed but she could see the worry beneath. Sighing, she reached for his hand. "Let's at least look at the room. If you still think I won't be safe, then we can talk about a plan B."
That appeared to mollify him a bit, but he still didn't look satisfied. "I'd just never forgive myself for scaring you off."
Eyes wide, she reached for his face instead, asking him to look at her. "You can't scare me. What scares me is not knowing how to help you. We're leaving Hogwarts next year. If we learn how to do this now, we'll be able to keep you safe wherever we land." He looked at her like he'd never quite seen her before, and Caroline found she enjoyed surprising him. "Like I said, it would take a lot to scare me off."
He pressed a kiss to her wrist, the closest skin he could reach without breaking her hold. When he finally managed to speak, his voice was a ragged whisper. "Good to know."
