Glaring at him as harshly as she could without letting her powers take control, Raven slowly took a breath in through her nose and exhaled through her mouth.
He had better have a good explanation for this.
"I thought it might help," Beast Boy responded to her silent question.
"How? By banishing my Demon?" she spoke back darkly.
"What?! No! What are you talking about? It's for protection!"
"Yes. Against Demons," she hissed back.
"No. For protecting relationships," the green teen rasped back, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "What are you talking about?"
"What are you talking about?"
"Onyx crystals are for protecting a relationship. Mento and Elasti-Girl each have one inscribed with each others' names. It's a reminder that no matter what happens, they should talk before assuming something when they argue or get mad at each other. I thought it might help us to.. ya know.. communicate better," he finished with a shrug.
Maybe he had been wrong about this, but his adoptive parents had been married a long time now, and they were still going strong, so it had seemed like a good idea to him.
"Oh," the empath replied in surprise. That hadn't even crossed her mind. "Well, onyx is also used to ward off Demons," she explained.
"Oh," staring at the offending crystal, the green teen pocketed it. "Guess we'll just have to pick something else, then."
Staring back at him in wonder, she was in awe of how easily he had just accepted that. Onyx obviously held a deep meaning for him, but he just easily gave it up. For her.
"Thanks."
"Any time."
