Sesshomaru stepped up beside Kagome, eyes fixed on the woman, who cackled.
"What concern is it of yours, Son of InuTaisho?"
A threatening growl vibrated over the cave walls, and Kagome placed a calming hand on his arm.
The woman left the shadows, entering the light, and Kagome had to contain her gasp.
She was older than anyone Kagome had ever seen in her life, and it showed in the paper-thin skin, and wrinkles. The milk-white eyes. The hunch of her back, and knobs of her knuckles.
"Please." Kagome bowed deferentially. "Help me understand."
