Chapter 28

Clint placed himself in a defensive stance before even looking at the people who stood next to his niece.

Ali ran over to him and put herself in between her sister and her Uncle.

Her eyes were blue, but Clint still had his bow up and he was about to aim at someone.

He wasn't paying attention to anyone around him as he was to worried about protecting his niece to look properly at the people who stood before him.

Ali knew that if she didn't do something quick then it would turn into a fight and someone would get hurt.

That was why she gave into her instincts and she released some of her power.

Nobody could move anything but their heads once Ali had done this.

They weren't frozen with ice and they could still feel their arms and legs, but they just couldn't move them. Something in their brains were stopping them.

Ali had no idea what she had just done but rushed over to her uncle once she was sure that he was no longer raising his bow to shoot.

"Uncle Clint please listen to me. This is Daisy my sister, this is her mum who hasn't introduced herself yet to me and this is my grandad. Please don't hurt them, they aren't a threat, and they would never hurt me."

Clint only stopped trying to move when the little girl started to speak. She pointed to each person as she spoke and was stunned into silence when he saw Coulson.

Coulson in his mind was dead. He had watched him die. He had cried over his death and yet here he was, alive.

Ali could feel it when everyone in the room stopped struggling to move and fight and so removed whatever her powers had created and changed her eyes back to their normal brown./

Both May and Coulson were too busy looking and analysing Clint's expression, since they had both known him before the old SHIELD fell, to really establish what the girl in front of them had done.

Clint was too busy trying to comprehend, in his mind, that Coulson was alive.

Daisy on the other hand had her full attention on Ali and was watching her closely. She pointed to May who was next to her and completely ignored everybody else as she said,

"That's May and Ali how did you get your powers?"

"The mum who I killed..."

"You didn't kill her!"

Everybody in the corridor said it at the exact same time including Clint and May. They had snapped out of their minds for only long enough to say that before May and Coulson went back to analysing Clint and Clint went back to his thoughts.

"She gave me a fish oil tablet and told me to take it, so I did. I then went to bed and the next morning I woke up covered in rock. After that I realised, I had powers, but I got them over time. First I could form water and then I could form ice."

Before Daisy could respond Clint managed to escape from his thoughts.

"I watched you die!"

It wasn't really a question, but Coulson knew that he needed to answer Clint. Ali moved so that she was now hugging Clint. Clint picked her up as he knew that she would probably be the only thing to stop him from doing something he would regret later.

"I did die. Fury brought me back from the dead."

Coulson's voice was calm and only his eyes portrayed his fear at making the best archer ever angry.

"How long were you gone?"

It was a question that Clint needed to know since he had seen Coulson's body be put in a bag not an hour after Loki had killed him.

"3 days."

Now Clint was not a Scientist but even he knew that that should be impossible.

"How?"

Ali decided that this answer would probably be better coming from her because then everyone's attention would be brought to her instead of her Grandad.

"Fury injected him with Kree blood which healed him and brought him back to life. They then implanted fake memories into his brain so that he would never know what Fury did to him, but Grandad found out anyways and used it to save my sister. He then started drawing all the crazy symbols that lead them to a Kree temple and that, annoyingly, was all the report said."

Ali looked disappointed at not being able to discover more of what had happened on that mission, but it hadn't been in the report or if it had then it hadn't been place onto any sort of electronic device.

Her speech gave her the affect that she wanted though. All the attention was now on her.

All of them, even Daisy were shocked that she had managed to hack so far into their database since that security had been updated only two days ago.

Even Clint was mostly focused on the fact that she could hack and by the sounds of it really well.

Clint knew that he still needed to address the fact that Coulson was alive and so said with a lot less anger and with a lot more pain,

"Why didn't you tell us? You were like a dad to me and Nat. Why didn't you tell us?"

"I couldn't risk it. At first it was because Fury forbid me to but when I took over as the new director when SHIELD fell, I started drawing these maps on the wall and there was a high chance that someone was going to have to put me down and I was not going to let you two go through that all over again."

"That wasn't your choice to make!"

"I know, and for months now I have realised that I was wrong to not reach out to you and to keep you both in the dark and I am sorry for that."

"I will forgive you at some point, but I don't know if I can forgive you right away and I won't defend you from Nat."

"But don't worry because I will!"

Everyone laughed at Ali's comment, but Ali was telling the truth. She didn't want her family to argue or get hurt. She wanted them to be happy and healthy.

Ali decided to try and change the subject. She was still in Clint's arms but was no longer hugging him as she twisted her body around to face Daisy.

"What happened in the Kree temple?"

She could guess that that was where her sister had gotten her powers but unless the Kree liked fish oil tablets Ali didn't see how she had gotten them.

"Before the temple there was this object called the Obelisk..."

"I read about that in the old SHIELD data base. It was the first 084 and only certain people could touch it without dying but they never found out why only certain people could touch it."

You would think that those in the corridor had learnt not to be surprised at what Ali could do and had done but it looked like they could.

"We found that it only killed those who didn't have the inhuman gene."

Ali looked questioningly at Daisy to show that she didn't understand what she meant.

"Many hundreds of years ago the Kree came to Earth and did experiments on humans to give them powers. They were then meant to join the Kree army, but the programme was shut done. These powered people then had children who they passed on their powered gene to. The Inhuman gene. The gene is only activated though by a certain mist or rock that would kill those without the gene."

"So, the Obelisk had the rock inside it and that was how you got your powers?"

Daisy decided that that was the simplest way to explain it as she was not going to give her little sister any details on what had happened down in the temple or what had happened after that.

"Yes. We are Inhumans."

"You know others?"

"Yes, many of my friends are Inhumans like us."

"Are any of your friends around my age?"

"No."

"Do you know of any children Inhumans?"

Daisy sighed and shook her head in response.

Ali wasn't sure how to process this information. It made her one of a kind. The first child inhuman but was that really a good thing? It presented her with loads of questions and unknowns instead of answers.

Clint placed Ali on the floor after making sure that he wasn't still angry at Coulson or anyone else and wasn't going to do anything that he would regret.

After he had done that, he properly began to look around the corridor and only then noticed May.

"How did he managed to get you out of your desk job!"

Clint shouted it out of surprise but was obviously quite happy about it. He was very happy about seeing May again after so many years.

May was about to respond but Ali cut in. From spending the last 10 minutes in that corridor with these three other people she now knew a lot about them including their relationships.

"Well, he probably didn't have to try very hard."

May and Coulson knew exactly what she was talking about and Coulson face went bright red while May's face contained a small smile.

Clint was so confused and had no idea what she meant, and Daisy was laughing at the embarrassed look on Coulson's face and the confused look on Clint's. She understood what Ali was talking about but thought that the comment was more of a joke and didn't take it seriously.

Clint didn't want to ask what she meant because he knew that he was the only one in the room to not understand what she had meant so instead turned to the third person in the corridor who Ali had introduced as her sister.

She was the only one that he had never met before, so he stuck out his hand for a handshake and introduced himself to her.

"Clint Barton. I used to work for SHIELD."

"Daisy Johnson and I work for SHIELD. By any chance did you have a code name while you were here because we are trying to establish who has the best code name here out of all the agents."

Daisy had returned his handshake but dropped her hand after she had finished talking.

"I did and still do. It is Hawkeye."

"As in the Hawkeye! The one on the Avengers!"

Clint nodded his head at the now star struck Daisy before Daisy turned to face Ali and completely ignored Clint as she said,

"The Hawkeye is your Uncle!"

Ali nodded and her face held a smile on her face like everyone else's did at Daisy's reaction.

"Wow. That is so cool! Wait, if he is your uncle then who is your mum?"

Knowing her mum, Ali knew that she would probably find this place and visit it today after her mission since it was only 2:30 and her mum would be done with the robots soon or leave early to check up on Ali. She also knew that her mum had access to the tracker she still had in her shoe.

"You will probably find out soon."

Two things seemed to happen at once.

The first was that Clint's phone rang.

The second was that Ali felt a gust of wind from behind her and upon instinct created a block of ice to block them from whoever was behind them. She felt a force, that she didn't know a human could create while running, collide with the ice and before it was suddenly gone. As soon as it was gone so too was her ice.

Ali was so preoccupied by what had just happened that she had completely forgotten about Clint's phone. She had completely forgotten about it until Clint said the words that she knew would be spoken eventually and had been spoken before.

"It's Nat."
