Alright truthfully, I was bored when I did this. I enjoy Pokémon and the anime for Pokémon is nice. I really like Galar, but it was too short. I wanted more story and things to do in the game. Instead, I started to write this. Obviously, I don't own Pokémon or anything else mentioned in this story.

When I woke up today, I didn't think I would be waking up in the body of someone else. I want to say that I reacted well, but that would be a lie and one thing my mother taught me was to never lie. I completely freaked out. I took one look at my tiny little body and I started to hyperventilate.

Usually, I am pretty good in stressful situations. You see in my past life I use to play sports and I understood what it meant to deal with stress. I usually ended up relieving that stress through video games. I was popular, but only kind of popular. What I mean is that I had friends in school, but none of them would ever ask me to do anything with them outside of school. Instead, I ended up playing single player video games.

Imagine my surprise when I fell asleep late at night and I woke up in a small body of a child in a cave. I looked around and I wasn't able to spot any hungry animals. The little child even brought a pack with him. Maybe he was running away from home before I ended up jacking his body. I quickly scanned the little cave and then rummaged through his pack. What I found in his pack had me on edge. I found myself trying to calm myself down. They could be replicas for all I know. Maybe some pokemon nut bought these life like poke balls and berries. Yah that must have been it.

I think god or was it Arceus now must have hated me because floating above me was one of if not the most mysterious pokemon in the whole of the pokemon universe. I had seen my fair share of pokemon theories on them. Hell, even the third pokemon movie with Entei had them in it. Yes, ladies and gentlemen there floating above me where a group of unknown. I looked around and I found myself striking a math I had found in my bag. The light helped to illuminate the wall and to my ever-growing shock the walls were covered in carvings of the unknowns.

I want to say that I acted like the twenty-year-old I was, but in all honesty I bolted. I ran through the cave shrieking and terrified. Unknown may have only known one move, but in hordes they could change the very fabric of reality. That isn't even getting into the theory that Arceus used them as his arms to create the universe. Strange images flashed through my mind as I ran. Some of them were of my old family, while others were of another place with a man and woman looking over a crib and gently poking a finger at me. These images filled my head and I continued to stumble through the cave.

Once I had made it to the exit I fumbled even more and started my decent down the hill or was it a mountain. I couldn't very well remember at the time. However, it was clear that I stumbled down the mountain. I crashed into bushes and trees all the while trying to claw out the images flooding my now five-year-old brain.

I finally came to a stop when I plowed into a tree and I was quite literally forced to stop. I looked around and I was able to catch a glimpse of a few pokemon. None seemed very threatening and the sheer mental stress I had right now made me disregard them. My thoughts turned to the images. The main ones of my father, mother, and brother. I can't say I didn't want to get back, but how would I ever do that. Oh, I know I could simply ask Dialga or Palkia to send me back, or maybe Hoopa would help me. Notice my sarcasm. No legendary would simply help me out of the goodness of their hearts. These are literal god like pokemon. None would even bat an eye at my predicament. Not to mention these beings that are portrayed as human-like are still distinctively animals. Sure, some of the pokemon could talk to humans and could communicate, but let's be realistic. Animals from our earth had some sentience too. Dolphins, parrots, monkeys all had at least a small amount of sentience and yet none had full conversations with people.

It's one of the things I hated the most about pokemon stories when the pokemon could speak. I always thought it took away from the reality of it. Sure, these pokemon were powerful and could crush humans, but so could the animals back on earth. I looked up from my spot at the tree to see some of the bug pokemon inching closer. I quickly made a small fire from the materials in my pack and the pokemon immediately scurried away.

First thing I needed to do was find out exactly where I was in the pokemon world. I knew some key information and I was going to abuse the hell out of that, or at least I was going to try too. I just needed to figure out where I was. My head immediately snapped up when I heard a small growl coming from in front of me. Their wobbling on three paws was a golden growlithe.

My jaw dropped. It was just like the golden growlithe I had in my last pokemon game. I had spent well over a hundred hours trying to get one and I remember running down the hall of my house screaming in excitement that I got it. My mom wasn't overly happy when she figured out, I had spilled some of the flour she was using to make cookies with. I wasn't very happy after when I had to clean up the mess. I snapped out of the memories and slowly approached the on guard growlithe. I rummaged around my bag and looked for an oran berry.

I wasn't able to find one. I only saw a couple of raspberries and a few apples. That's kind of cool. It looks like the foods from our world are real in the pokemon world too. I made a decision then and there. I slowly reached in my bag and pulled out the only poke ball I had. In hindsight I guess this was a cherished moment. Right now, in the moment though I was shaking in fear. I slowly pulled out the cherish ball and the growlithes growl turned more menacing if an injured puppy could even be terrifying. I threw the crystal ball at the growlithe and it couldn't move to avoid the ball.

The ball hit the growlithe directly and rolled twice. It was the third roll that always had me on the edge of my seat when I played the games. When the third roll happened, I didn't know whether to curse my luck or scream in joy. Next time I release growlithe it would not be happy to see me. I debated on if I should do this now or later. I took some advice my dad ingrained into me. It's always better to resolve problems as soon as possible, or they would build up. I clicked the crystal poke ball and growlithe appeared. It looked just as injured as before. It then lunged forward, and a bright yellow energy glowed on its fangs. I may or not have shrieked and jumped back.

I slowly grabbed some berries from my bag and said 'Wait hold on. I have food and you need help.' I held out my hand to show the berries and growlithe slowly approached me with a suspicious gaze. I am sure if our positions were switched, I would have done the same thing. Growlithe slowly approached me and once it came up to my hand it licked up the berries.

I smiled at growlithe and the feel of its warm muzzle. I had only been in this world for close to an hour or two and I had already caught my first pokemon. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad. It seemed growlithe thought I was ok because growlithe limped up to me and licked me. I smiled and ran my fingers through its fur.

I said 'Alright buddy. Let's get you a name buddy.' The growlithe tilted its head in a confused way and I started to think. It only took me a few minutes to come to a realization on what I was going to name my first team member. I looked back down at the patient growlithe. It seemed to be teeming with excitement.

I said, 'How do you like the sound of Smaug.' The growlithe, now named Smaug, barked in agreement. I smiled and said I am glad you and I could come to an agreement. Now let's get you back in your ball and take you to the nearest pokemon center. Growlithe gave out a small whimper and I smiled and pressed the poke ball. Smaug went back into his ball in a burst of crystal light and I smiled.

I had made a friend. I quickly latched the poke ball onto my side and stood from my spot on the tree. I needed to get to the pokemon center and fast. There was no doubt there were more dangerous pokemon that Smaug in these woods and I did not want to meet them. I started my rush through the forest, and I swear I could feel eyes following me. The night soon turned into a blur after that I continued to run and ignore the eerie feeling that was building up within me.

Once I saw the edge of the forest, I felt relief swell in me. I slowed my sprint to a jog and looking back on it, that was a mistake. I heard tearing of metal and my five-year-old body automatically cupped my head. The sound was ear bleeding, and I took a chance to glance back in my haze of pain. There flying above me was a skarmory. Oh no this was not good Skarmories were known to be mean pokemon even when they had trainers. Imagine one that didn't have a trainer. I looked for anything that could help me against this titan of a pokemon. I came up with nothing and I started to pray to god maybe even Arceus. It could have been he heard me, or it could have been that the skarmory had angered something much worse than me when it made that shrieking noise.

Next thing I knew I saw a salamance slam into the scarmory. Oh boy did it looked pissed. I quite literally was shaking in my boots and I took this time to run away from the two titans. Once I had tucked my tail and ran away from those two monsters, I looked towards the direction I was running. It appeared a town was here. It might have been a city. I really wasn't focused on the city as I ran in. All I could say now was that when I entered the city, I felt a sense of eagerness and confidence. One that I hadn't felt in years. Almost like I belonged here.

I shrugged off the feeling and unclipped the ball from my belt. I ran straight towards the large red topped building ignoring anything and everything in my way. I burst into the pokemon center and ran straight to the front desk that wasn't being manned. I slammed my hands on the table and called for help. A very frazzled Nurse joy came out from the back room followed obediently by her chansey. I was able to catch a slightly irritated look from her, but I couldn't care less.

I spoke quickly and said 'Please help my pokemon. He is injured and needs medical attention urgently.' The look of annoyance clearly changed to worry as I handed her the poke ball. She took it without saying anything and left to work in the back room. I sighed and slumped down on the chair in the pokemon center. I peeked out the window to see men and women on the backs of all different types of pokemon heading towards the area I came from.

The adrenaline had faded at this point and I slowly brought up my hand to my ears. I pulled my hands to my eyes to see blood-soaked hands. I curled up on the bench and slowly faded from consciousness.

I woke up warm and nothing like how I woke up this yesterday. I had a nice warm blanket over me, and I thought I might be back in my room. My eyes slowly opened, and I let out a low groan. I was in the pokemon center and it didn't look like last night was a dream. I looked around and spotted the nurse joy. She must have seen me move because she made her way towards me with my poke ball. She held out the poke ball to me and I quickly snatched it away and clutched it to my chest.

She frowned at that and then she put on a fake smile for me. I could always tell when someone faked a smile. It just didn't hold that same warmth a regular smile did. She said 'You gave me quite the scare last night. Busting in and all that.'

She then whispered under her breath 'Not like it hasn't happened before with all these dragons around.' She seemed to be talking to herself more than to me now. I was fine with that I still needed time to figure out a plan. I had been winging it so far and I had almost been either skarmory or salamence food already.

I broke the nurse joy out of her rambling when I asked 'Where am I specifically? I don't remember there ever being salamances roaming freely around routes.' The nurses smile strained. She bent forward and examined me.

She took up a bossy tone and said 'Now that is not is what is going to happen here. You are going to tell me your name. You are going to tell me what happened last night and why you have a pokemon when you are only about five.'

I was going to say something and then I shut my mouth. I thought about what I was going to say, and I relayed what happened to me last night after encountering Smaug. The nurse didn't seem to lose her angry attitude even if it fell only a little. I said, 'My name is Aragorn Strider.'. The woman nodded at my answers.

She said, 'I will have to write down a full report and explain how a five-year-old has a pokemon.' She saw me shift in nervousness and smiled. I would no doubt run if they tried to take away Smaug from me. I would fight tooth and nail for him no matter what they did.

Nurse joy smiled and said 'Don't worry honey. Plenty of children in Blackthorn have pokemon before they turn ten and I have no doubt the league won't care.' I released a sigh of relief and I clicked the button on my poke ball. Smaug popped out of the ball as healthy as I had ever seen him. He bounded right up to me and jumped into my lap. He started to lick my cheek and I gently kept trying to push him off.

I said 'Stop Smaug. I don't want your stinky breath on me.' He ignored my command and continued to lick me. Eventually I held him at arm's length, and he struggled in my grip. We just stared at each other. Him and his big puppy dog eyes and me and my hard stare. I heard a faint laughter and looked over to nurse joy. My action caused me to be hit with a glob of golden fur and I fell off my seat. I sighed as the nurse joy continued to giggle at my expense.

I sighed. This being treated like a child would not be fun. I was twenty for Arceus sake. I should have been respected. I guess it didn't help that I had a bright golden dog sitting on my back as I glared at the still giggling nurse joy.

Alright so Aragorn has his first pokemon and it is a growlithe. I thought a lot about which pokemon he should have as a partner. One of my all-time favorites is Arcanine. He is super majestic and one of the best pokemon that is slept on way too much. Everyone either chooses dragonite, Charizard, Lucario, or gardevoir. Don't get me wrong, all of those pokemon are great. Some of them are my favorites, especially dragonite, but it is far too over-saturated in my opinion. The pokemon on his team and any other pokemon he catches will be given lord of the ring nicknames. I also have a broad idea of what I want to make his team. He will slowly collect these pokemon. The second pokemon might come soon, but the rest will take a lot longer to get. I want to build up his connection to each of his pokemon and make each one special. He will catch more than just six though. There are just too many awesome pokemon out there. I prefer dragons, but he will catch all different types of pokemon. His goal hasn't been set yet, but that will come soon. I appreciate criticism and reviews.
