Liesel has just lost everybody, including her beloved Rudy. He has entered the grave before Liesel could admit her love. Now heartbroken, Liesel longs for him back. The day of Rudy's funeral, Death offers Liesel something. He says he will return Rudy back alive to Liesel but at a great cost. A cost she will only know when it appears right in front of her.

A little poem about Liesel after the bombing. I wrote it quickly, so it may not be very good.

Rudy did leave for that school. Liesel did promise to kiss him if he only he returns. Not very long afterward, Molching suffered and Death was busier than ever. The book thief, however, survived and the boy with hair the color of a lemon returned years later to claim what was his: her promise of a kiss.
