Being a spy - being a thief - meant that Napoleon had been forced to get used to the need for quick and often uncomfortable getaways. It was often undignified and was rarely clean, but all that mattered was he escaped to live another day.

Sequel to "Unhappy customer" and "A simple mission, really" The CIA experts have finally managed to extract information from the coded notebook stolen by Solo. The team is sent to the south west of France to investigate this new lead. They have never been closer to discovering who is pulling the strings, but this might prove to be their most dangerous mission yet.

The KGB has something that is precious to Illya. They think that they can use it to control him, but Napoleon and Gaby have other ideas as they work to help their friend. The KGB does not stand a chance when these three are involved. Some angst and hurt/comfort and maybe some romance later on. T for some content. PLEASE NOTE THAT CHAPTER 15 ONLY IS RATED M.

It could be chance that has brought the three of them together, each with their abilities and each balancing the others, but Illya has seen enough of life to know that it always, always finds a way.

Gaby was the only one who already had a flat, as the only one previously employed with MI6, and she offered to put the two men up for the night. "I'm afraid it's too tiny to be very comfortable for all three of us, but it will do for a night or two."

There were a lot of things that should worry him. For one, he was wandering a forest, alone, at night, with no shoes on. Two, he had a feeling that he wasn't alone when he entered. Three, he had no idea what he was supposed to be doing or why. That last one should probably worry him more.

Ilya, Gaby, and Solo know their job is to maintain balance. Their job is to bear the weight, no matter what needs to be done or who you have to give up. Only this time, Ilya isn't sure if he can do that, not with Gaby, and he's running out of time to find another way. A response to The Weight of Us by Insomniabug.
