Fan Fiction opens so many doors; one of my favorites is the 'What Happened Next' door. As in what happened after the last scene in an episode? In the last scene of A Good Sound Profit, the Cannon/Montoya clan and Lt. Sanchez are headed into the ranch house. Then what might have happened? As ever, not my characters/no copyright infringement intended.

Watching "Journal of Death" I got to wondering where John Cannon got those impressive and crucial metal working skills. That's what kicked off this story, anyway. After that... The make-up scene between John and Victoria at the end of Once on A Day in Spring is pretty intense. This takes it where TV cameras of the day couldn't go. Fair warned is fair armed...it is VERY MA.

Threshold of Courage ends with nearly all the participants stunned and exhausted. What might have happened next? Specifically to John and Victoria. Others have tackled this time and place, and very well too. This is my take.

Wouldn't it be fun if Blue had a little sister. What would she have thought about Uncle Dan?

Sometimes you need to do a thing more than once to get it just right.

In watching HC episodes, I am always struck by how happy John and Victoria are to see each. And how they aren't especially shy about showing it. And that is after only a few days apart. What if a separation went on for a bit longer?

This story tries to pull the thread on what it must have been like for John to be buffaloed by clan Montoya in "The Lion Sleeps." I have altered a few of the facts of the episode, most importantly, that John actually DOES sign the contract; under the same false pretenses. Beside the family sturm and drang, I hope there is some humor to be found here as well.

I have enjoyed getting reacquainted with the High Chaparral gang, thanks to their sudden appearance in reruns on tv. I enjoy all the characters but am most intrigued by the John & Victoria relationship, especially in the first season. This is my take of how they might have gotten from where they started in The Arrangement to where they are by Threshold of Courage.

John goes for a ride, find memories that still haunt him, and maybe something to bring joy to Victoria. Rated T just because there is a bit of violence, not graphic, and a sad death. The story is complete and intended to stand alone but it is also open-ended.

Victoria takes a mystical journey that might or might not, reflect the future of the Canon family.

As Christmas approaches some weeks after the events of "Under a Pumpkin Moon," Buck's storytelling is taken a bit too literally, putting precious lives in danger. Will John, Buck, Mano, and the bunkhouse boys be able to save them in time? The Epilogue was released on Christmas Day, 2016. Complete!
