Daemons fights were outlawed, but Ross knew well that if justice was blind, it was to the plight of the poor. No judge would ever rule to protect the common man. Drake is heartbroken. After witnessing the marriage of Morwenna to another man, Drake sees no point in continuing to live in Cornwall. But he can't go without knowing why. His heart has been broken, but he wants to know why.

Dwight lets slip that Demelza is off to Sir Hugh's party in Ross' absence, and in his fury, Ross rides over to confront her. What he finds when he gets there is not what he expected. (In which Captain MacNeil is no gentleman and Ross must defend his wife's honour wink wink)

In the TV series, we jump from "You can no longer be my servant" to the wedding. The book says that the banns were read (which is three Sundays in a row) and Demelza has a new dress. This is what went on in those three weeks of June 1787. COMPLETE IN 14 CHAPTERS.
