It is the dead of winter and Ben Cartwright collapses. Adam is out training his dog, Hop Sing feels helpless, Joe is distressed and Hoss feels less than up to the task.

6th Story in the Alexandra Series. Marty and Alexandra are a little put out at being left behind, while the Cartwright men go on one of the biggest trail rides in the territory. Frankly, I'm not sure what's going to happen, other than, Adam won't be too happy and Alexandra will have a lot to say… as usual.
