Officially, the Terran Federation is rock-solid both politically and militarily. Unofficially, it is surrounded by enemies ready to tear it apart. So far, the strength of its fleets has held back the many threats besieging it, but this might not last...

In the far reaches of the Milky Way Galaxy, an aspiring young fleet officer is on a routine border patrol. But this patrol will be anything but routine. It will be the start of a conflict that will come to encompass the entire galaxy, and bring humanity many new allies, and just as many enemies.

As the Prethoryn Scourge presses on the border of the Commonwealth of Man, the Commonwealth's leader makes some new choices and questions some old ones.

The time for slumber has come to an end. The Rethellian Empire, after many millennia spent in self isolation, return to the galactic stage to reclaim their former glory. Many will deny their ascension, and many will fall. A threat beyond the edges of the galaxy challenges Rethellian supremacy. Only one thing is certain. The galaxy will burn.
