Stranded in Her Kingdom

He couldn't remember what exactly happened. That tingling pain inside the head suddenly poked all the nerves in his body to wake him up.

Jaune Arc violently shook. Sapphires saw nothing but a mass of white color.

Quickly, he sat up with a gasp. The heavy pile of snow on top him fell off. His lower body were already buried underneath it. He yanked and kicked off his leg to get out from the cold ground. The layer appeared to be very thick, it built up for quite sometime as the weather turned bad.

He scanned around, clueless of his own whereabout. A broken wheel was found stuck in the nearby bushes. Pieces of wood scattered around the place. His legs moved, pushing the snow apart.

"Dust." Jaune groaned.

He didn't hope to see what was left of the carriage he was supposed to ride back to town lie at the bottom of the cliff. It was his one and only transportation to travel past the Frozen Valley. Jaune climbed down, holding onto some branches along the slope to keep a steady pace.

The whole thing was heavily damaged due to the falling impact. He had no idea what could lead to such an accident. He couldn't remember. Maybe it was a mistake, mountain roads within this region tent to be difficult to travel around. Jaune made a simple error. And this was the consequence of that carelessness.

Oh well. At least the horse wasn't here, which meant it somehow got out before the crash. Jaune stared at the cliff above. A clear, high-pitched sound echoed across the air as he whistled.

Nothing. No sign of the animal he befriended yesterday.

One more time.

Whistle!

Still nothing. His shoulders dropped in disbelief. To think the amount of lien he spent to buy carrots and feed the horse resulted in this abandonment.

The wind picked up. The heavy snow continued to fall. No doubt a snowstorm was about to reach this place.

It might have been a good thing that he had these gloves and the scarf. His hands always get cold easily. The neck was another vulnerable spot. It made him struggle in this type of freezing air. Jaune could never get used to the weather. This one-week long trip only occurred because of an errand from the daughter of the Valkyrie clan.

"You owe me big time, Nora." Muttered Jaune to himself.

Yep! She should appreciate one of her best friends, who went above and beyond to search for the thing that she quoted, "The life-long symbol of her other best friend".

In the back of the carriage, he dug up a box covered in the snow. It was still intact, something that gave him a sense of relief. The result of Nora's request lied within this thing. Finding it was no joke, Blake's advises helped him greatly.

Now, he should find a shelter to hide from this storm. But that was easier said than done.

No matter where he looked, the surrounding was the same snowy scenery. The sky was slowly turning dark. There was no sign for him to navigate. He was stranded, completely lost in the mountain.

Jaune heard many stories about this place. Due to the abnormal weather, no one had never ventured beyond the range of these woods. Of course, this wouldn't be the right time to let those myths and unexplained rumors fill his mind.

He had no other option but to move along the narrowed trail that led deeper into the heart of the Frozen Valley.

"Got to find a place to stay warm first."

With a desperate sigh, Jaune reluctantly walked into the dense white wood.

He wouldn't notice it. Somewhere beyond these frozen tree lines, a prominent structure stood against the raging storm.

Making a subtle yawn, she finally woke up.

Her long white hair seemed to float the moment she got out of the queen size bed. One elegant flick of her hand, the ribbon and the comb on the table came to her without the need of her touch.

Like magic, the black glyphs that appeared around the items freely moved as she saw fit. She lightly touched the scar on her left eye, tracing vertically down to the pale skin on her cheek while the inanimate objects take good care of her hair. A little part of her habit to always recall what transpired.

Once her hair had pulled back into a ponytail, she made her way to the wardrobe. A long, glittering dress and a small cape she put on then looked at the mirror.

"Hm." Weiss fondly hummed.

She looked gorgeous, always had been. Still, that wouldn't be enough, she wanted to hear some opinions. She snapped her fingers. Multiple glyphs circled around her feet.

The Servants, as she often called them, all appeared in the vessels made of ice. As they rose from inside the summoning circles, they bowed at her. A gesture that Weiss responded with a low raise of her hand. The cold air emitted from them circulated around her private chamber, but she didn't seem to be affected by it. The freezing atmosphere had been a part of her and this place. She loved and cherished it.

"What do you think?" She gently spun around.

There was no reply. Instead, the Servants all bowed at her again. They didn't have voice, the ability to converse limited to such a degree.

"I supposed. I shall wear this for today."

Regardless, she understood them. With a wave of her hand, the Servants were gone along with the glyphs that summoned them.

Weiss Schnee was a princess. The Frozen Valley was the Kingdom under the rule of the Schnee. It was Weiss's own little world that she resided. A place detached from the outside world. This Kingdom was hers and only hers.

She made her way to the grand dining hall. Breakfast had been prepared, waiting for her at the end of the table. As she sat down, handwritten words appeared out of thin air, outlined by the spark of an invisible energy.

[Beautiful as always, my dear lady.]

They weren't there. No one could see them, but Weiss knew this presence.

"Why thank you, Klein!" She smiled.

Her meal was simple. It consisted of only a glass, the deep red content inside raised her apatite with just a single sniff.

Then, it was gone. She licked her lip, saving the delicious, flavorful taste of her family's special menu. Hm? No. It tasted a bit bland today. Did Klein choose the old bottle?

As Weiss wiped her lip with a handkerchief, she noticed the change in her ghostly paled hand. Cold, snowy liked skin began to warm up, shifting color. For a moment, the fair-skinned contradicted the true nature of her existence.

"Would you look at this." Weiss muttered as she felt a series of bumping deep within her chest.

Six. Fourteen. Twenty. And stopped. Thirty consecutive heartbeats and the short-lived warmth came to an end. What a pity. It had been a while since these sensations occurred.

[It seems we have a guest.] Informed Klein as words reappeared out of thin air.

"A guest?" She raised an eyebrow.

That was something new after a long time.

Weiss lightly tapped her finger on the table, a glyph formed in front of her. It showed a figure staggering in the harsh weather outside. A young man with blonde hair, shivering and unaware of the snow building up around his face and clothes. The evening storm didn't show any sign that it would make his movements any less difficult.

He finally stopped at the big gate, the entrance to her castle. His arms raised up to push it. But he didn't. He seemed to freeze along with the chilling air.

Was the gate still locked? Was that why he couldn't open it?

"Klein?" Weiss asked her invisible butler.

[It has been unlocked for a while, my lady.]

As she thought of the strangeness this circumstance came to be, the young man started moving again. Though, not in the way she expected.

His figure shifted, falling and hit the thick layer of snow on the side of the gate.

A summoning circle formed in the main hall.

Weiss waited as she ordered the Servant to pick up the unfortunate guest. A hollowed armor returned with the young man, on the verge of losing consciousness and hanging on its shoulder. His trembling mouth muttered something about being hugged by a block of ice.

It put him down on the red carpet and vanished after completing its task.

Weiss fixed her dress and bent down, observing his feature. The pale frostbitten marks caused by the bitter cool wind paint over his cheeks. The cold of her Kingdom seemed to be too much for him to handle.

A little wave of her hand, red glyphs traveled across the room. Torches on the wall lit up and Flame burned in the fireplace. He let out a small gasp as the heat reached his body.

"…..tha…"

"?"

"….t-thank….thank you." The guest stammered. He still had enough strength to comprehend the situation. "…name's….…J-Ja…...Jaune Arc….…."

Sapphires finally met her cold blues.

"Weiss Schnee." Regardless, she calmly replied. "You're welcome."

"..….that's a…...b-be….beautiful name….Snow Angel….."

He called her an angel even though she was not. He tried to smile, and it failed miserably. His eyelids closed shut once the lightheadedness caught up. This guest must had been a really stubborn human to endure the weather this long.

Weiss didn't aware of how her hand already move to his face. Her finger gently wiped a single drop of blood bled from the injury and brought it to her lip.

That warmth sensation came to her once more. Almost immediately.

Weiss's heartbeats echoed louder as she watched the unconscious young man.

How curious.

A human, lost and stranded in her Kingdom.
