The young girl sat on the plush chair, her knees bent towards her chest. She turned a page of the large leather book she had in her lap, reading over the page. She fiddled with the curled ends of her shining auburn hair, her emerald eyes scanning the text. She heard a low, guttural growl from behind her. She lifted her head, turning it to rest against the back of the chair. The large wolf stood before her, crouched low and ready to lunge. It snarled, snapping its jaws at her as it stepped forward. Sigyn rolled her eyes.
"Loki, don't you ever get tired of trying to trick me?" Sigyn asked.
She saw Loki crouched on the ground, the wolf just a mere mist around him. An illusion.
The young Loki stood, pouting slightly at her as the illusion vanished.
"How can you always see through my illusions?" He asked, making his way beside her as her eyes glanced back down to the book.
"Just lucky I guess" Sigyn turned the page.
"Where's Thor?" Loki plopped down beside her on the chair, Sigyn scooting over to make room for him.
"Where do you think? Training with Sif" Sigyn responded without looking up. "Seems that is all my sister wants to do"
"Let's pay them a visit, then" Loki grasped the book, pulling it from her hands.
Sigyn sighed, peering to him. "All you want to do is torment them with your tricks"
"It's their fault they always fall for them" Loki held the book from her reach as she tried to grab it.
"You always end up in trouble and I have to come rescue you" Sigyn shook her head. "Remember last week, when you turned yourself into a snake and stabbed Thor? Odin almost beat you to Valhalla"
"It was only a joke…" Loki stood, tossing the book onto the chair.
The doors were thrown open, crashing against the walls. Sigyn flinched at the sound, glancing over as Thor raced into the room. Sif followed after him, the two out of breath from running.
"Sif has managed to best me five in a row!" Thor bellowed, flopping down onto another chair. "It's not fair at all"
"You were the one who tried to cheat, not I" Sif sat down beside her sister, Sigyn hurrying to pull the book away before she sat on it.
"Sigyn, why do you not come and train with us? You have abilities on par with Sigyn yet you don't train. You'll grow weak" Thor commented.
Sigyn laughed slightly. "I'd rather read in peace"
"You are starting to sound like Loki. Where is he?" Thor asked, making Sigyn turn her head to him.
"What?" Sigyn asked.
"Where's Loki? Normally he is within reach of you" Thor shrugged.
Sigyn looked over, noticing the mist shrouding Loki's body. He had hidden himself from Thor and Sigyn. He gave her a warning look. 'Don't ruin my trick'. Sigyn had to stop herself from rolling her eyes, instead opening the book again.
"I'm not sure, perhaps he will be here soon" Sigyn shrugged her shoulders, faking reading the book. Instead, she used her peripheral vision to watch Loki as he circled around the Thor. Loki stopped behind the chair, pushing the vase over as the water spilled over Thor's head. Thor gasped, leaping to his feet then glared back as Loki appeared. Loki laughed heavily, quickly racing off as Thor chased after him. Sigyn shook her head, tucking back into her book.
!
Sigyn awoke with a start, sitting up as she rubbed her head. The memory was still fresh in her mind. She stood, smoothing her bedding out neatly before moving to the wardrobe to dress. She looked through her gowns, an array of colors and styles. Finally, she settled on the perfect one. A dark green gown with golden trims. Perfect for Thor's coronation.
!
The crowd cheered, their yells deafening as they praised Thor. He soaked it up, raising his arms like a champion as he walked down the path towards the throne. He cheered, flipping Mjolnir as he strides down the aisle. Sigyn and Loki stared a glance and an eye roll. For that, they earned a glare from Frigga. Sigyn watched as Thor kneeled before the throne. Odin stood, tapping the spear in the floor as the sound thundered across the room. Everyone silenced at once, listening as the All-Father spoke.
"Thor Odinson, my heir, my. first-born." Odin's voice was firm.
Sigyn felt Loki tense beside her. Stealing a glance, she saw the kink in his jaw.
"…Frost giants"
Siyn's attention turned back to Odin. He had a detached stare, tapping his spear against the floor again.
Sigyn quickly looked to Loki, his eyes had a faint glimmer to them. Sigyn instantly knew.
"Loki-" She started. He brought his finger up to his mouth, silently hushing her.
!
Sigyn stood behind the pillar, looking at the toppled table then to the food scattered across the ground. She watched Thor collapse onto the steps, slowly trying to regulate his breathing. Loki stepped from behind the other pillar, walking to his brother to sit beside him.
"It's unwise to be in my company right now, Brother" Thor's voice was strained, trying to stamp down his anger. "This was to be my day of triumph"
"It'll come" Loki nodded.
Sigyn looked off, thinking this grand plan of Loki's over. Banishing Thor to earth. Taking the throne. Defeating the Frost Giants once and for all. It was crazy. It was dangerous.
Sigyn watched Loki again, egging Thor on. She stayed silent, another burden to add to her shoulders.
"What is this?" Volstagg asked as the warriors three and Sif walked into the room.
"But there's nothing we can do without defying Father."
Sigyn knew this was the line that would catch Thor in the trap. She saw Thor considering it, the gleam in his eyes.
"No, no no no. I know that look" The two quickly rose.
"That's the only way to ensure the safety of our borders" Thor turned back to them.
"We're going to Jotunheim" Thor smirked.
