Lps High ep. 9 One Summer Night
Sunil lost his first crush probably forever but he thought being a good guy was the right thing and no matter the cost. Penny wasn't worth all of this in the end but he was left alone again. He was able to finish that day of school after his fight with Penny and go home. All he wanted to do was go home and relax for a while. He even thought of calling his friends and chat with them for a while. He walked inside and went straight to his room as no one was home. He laid down so quickly on his bed to relax from this exhausting day wondering what to do to pass his time.
Zoe just got off of school herself as she had chorus class after school. Zoe mostly drove to and from school everyday and today wasn't different. Before she went home she wanted to stop by Peppers house to see her. As she arrived she seen Ms. Clark outside her car. Zoe pulled up and got out of her car "Hello Ms. Clark" she said. "Hello Zoe how are you today?" Ms. Clark asked. Zoes day was decent but she was worried how Pepper was after yesterday. "Pepper hasn't been good these past few days Zoe...she stays in her room to avoid anything now...i'm worried for her" Ms. Clark told Zoe. Zoe knew about what Sunil left Penny today and she wanted to tell Pepper. She headed up to her room and knocked on her door. She opened to see Pepper holding a model car from the 50s with her headphones on. "Hey...Pepper how are you doing?" Zoe said as Pepper turned around to her. She stood up and ran to Zoe and hugged her squeezing tight to her. Zoe hugged back shocked a bit and she even heard her music through the headphones."Hey i got some news for you" Zoe said. Pepper and Zoe began to talk "So, I told Sunil what happened to you yesterday and you wanna know what he did about it?". "I mean...what did he do Zoe?" Pepper asked her. "Well after I told him he went straight to her and he left her on the spot. He did everything to let Penny know she is an awful pet and she took it all in Pepper. But he defended you from her Pepper". Pepper didn't know what to say "I…he really...he defended me?" She asked. Zoe shook her head yes and Pepper smiled and gave Zoe another hug "Thank you Zoe…" she said as she cried a bit. Zoe hugged her for a while but it was time for her to leave.
Pepper laid on her bed thinking about Sunil doing this for her. She thought to herself as he defended her and stood by her, that meant so much to her. She thought of something like going to see Sunil at the moment so she got dressed and left the house to him. Sunil was in a chat with Russell and Vinnie talking about what he did today. "Honestly Sunil, after what you did i'd say you did right" Russell said. Sunil was feeling a lot better after talking to his friends; the joy they brought was unmatched he thought. Pepper driving to his house played a song through the radio "Well c'mon everybody and let's get together tonight. I got sum money in my jeans and I'm gonna spend real light". She saw Sunil's house ahead and she stopped thinking to herself if she could do it. She took a big breath and got out of her mother's car and walked towards the house. One step at time there was a great feeling of regret but accomplishment in her. She had the song in her head that was on her radio she thought as she walked to the door "Well I've been a-doin' my homework all week long
And now the house is empty and the folks are gone" as she knocked on the door. Sunil was still talking as he heard the knocks "Hold on you two i'll be right back" he said and headed to his front door. Pepper was looking straight down trying not to look so nervous. Sunil was surprised to open the door expecting his parents but it was Pepper standing there. "Pepper? Hey how have you been?" Sunil asked. Pepper started a bit then tried her best to speak to him "Well….i mean...i just….Im okay Sunil. Im okay...and well...I heard you left Penny Ling after Zoe...told you what she did to me". "Ummm...yeah i left her today. She just wasn't for me and wasn't worth it in the end" Sunil said. "I...came to you...because...I wanted to say thank you...in person". Sunil still was shocked to see her here at his front door like this. "Well I mean yeah you're welcome Pepper. It wasn't right what Penny did and I wasn't going to let something like that happen and let her get away with it you know". Pepper smiled at him , Sunil never saw her smile like that. He always sees Pepper in a sad way all the time. "I...guess this is goodbye...until tomorrow?" Sunil said to her. "Umm...yeah...i mean...i will be at school...tomorrow". "Well I'm glad you're happier and I'll see you tomorrow Pepper". "Okay...goodbye...Sunil" she said and he closed the door. Pepper got in her car and decided to go home. Sunil watched her car leave the parking lot and drive off. He went back up stairs to continue chatting with Russell and Vinnie. "Hey, I'm back guys," Sunil said. Russell and Vinnie wondered where he went for a while. "Well I don't really know...but it was Pepper at the door". "Pepper? Huh i don't know anything about it Sunil" said Russell. "Hey man, Sunil i think she's being sweet on you man you gotta see it" Vinnie told him. "Now I don't think that guys, she's just being nice because I left Penny today because she did something to Pepper, that's all". It wasn't like Sunil didn't like Pepper he just didn't see her as the romantic type and that was fine. "I don't know guys, maybe she does, maybe she doesn't either way. I'm just going as life goes, that's all," said Sunil. The night got older and older so Sunil got off the chat with them and made him something to eat. After he ate he just decided to go to sleep as there wasn't much to do anymore.
As he laid there staring at the ceiling thinking about what happened today, it was a busy hard day. He thought if Pepper was just being kind for what he did or did she really like. He didn't know how to feel about it in any way. "So, Penny's gone for good and I saw Pepper at your front door Sunil...what's there to think about?" Fred asked as he appeared. "I don't know Fred i mean Pepper is sweet but...I don't know there's nothing wrong with her it's just she's quiet...that's all I could say". "Well maybe if you ever got to know her she would think it's okay and not be so quiet to you I mean she talks to Zoe just fine". He grabbed his phone looking to see if Pepper was on any social media. He finally found her a media Zoe used a lot but Peppers profile had nothing on but a profile pic and background. Sunil sees it as an old car with the background being a diner full of old cars "Pepper and those old cars Fred...they're so pretty…". Fred did admit her love for old cars was nice compared to what most pets liked. He saw where he could message her but was it a good idea? He opened and just sent her hello for a start. "Cmon you're nervous Sunil, i mean if she does like you remember she came to you first...not many girls do such a thing". Fred was right. I had nothing to fear Sunil thought to himself.
Pepper was in her bed listening to a song about a boy and girl meeting each other on a summer night. When she turned on her phone to repeat the song her notifications came up showing Sunil's message to her. She gasped slightly as she saw it and didn't know what to think or say but she had to reply to him. She typed "Hello…Sunil" back and he saw it replying "How are you". She wrote back "I guess I'm okay Sunil,...what about you?". Sunil sent her "I'm okay it's just been a very hard day but i'm fine. I know you came over here later may I ask why you did it? Not that i'm mad". Pepper held her breath in not knowing how to say or if it was the time for her to confess to him. "I…im sorry...but I came to your house...because I thought i would have to tell you in person...i won't do it again if you don't want me to" Sunil wasn't mad at Pepper he was just confused why she did it that way. "No, it's not any problem and you don't have to be sorry. You did nothing wrong Pepper" he sent. Pepper was just so happy that he was so kind "Would you mind if I showed something...Sunil?". Sunil got a bit nervous with that message but he didn't think that from her. Pepper sent him the song she was listening to while he was talking to her. He listened to it as he honestly had never heard such old music "I held you tight...you and I...under the moon of love…moon of love… One Summer Night" He listened to it. He thought it was beautiful and thought about whether this was a song that really showed her how she felt or was it just a song she really liked. It was getting late so Sunil messaged "Well it was nice talking to you Pepper see you tomorrow in school Goodnight". She replied "Okay Sunil...goodnight to you" and they slept this night as if it was that one summer night even when it wasn't summer anymore.
