Chapter one:
Stress
If he had known what he was dealing with he wouldn't have done it. The death note was not a force to be reckoned with. It was a sin to write in it. Despite all this, he pulled the desk drawer back, revealing the leather notebook. He took it out and his first instinct was to tap it. The material made him think of Mello, who was the second successor of L. Mello was so outgoing with his remarks. He was intelligent as well. All this about Mello made him think back to the days when he was still a kid. Back then, he wasn't piled up with work. He had people around him and he could get some sleep. The most important difference was the fact that people weren't dead. Now, Mello's gone. So are many others. However, Near was still at Wammy's house. This time, he had his own successors. Unlike L, Near was always around them. So was Linda. She was the only one close to Near who had lived. She was their teacher. Near snapped out of his daydreaming. "Hey." Said a growly voice.
That was definitely not Linda or any of his successors. He looked over his shoulder and it had been Ryuk. "Hi..?"
Near was confused as to why a god of death was saying 'hi'. There was definitely a catch. "It's been 5 years, Ryuk. Is it really that important?"
Ryuk chuckled, then dropped a clean, white eraser on his oak desk. The death note and eraser were right next to each other. Near caught on to this and made an assumption. "A death note eraser..? Huh. Interesting."
"That's your reaction? What, have you already seen one?" Ryuk put his hand on his hip and checked his nails.
He looked like he was waiting. "I haven't seen one, but I thought something like this might have existed."
Near grinned. "Let me guess. If you erase someone's name, they come back to life. Am I correct?"
"Yeah, yeah. Just get me some apples I'm kinda craving them right now." Ryuk sassed.
Near opened the notebook to a specific page. "I know exactly who to bring back."
