War, war is never a good thing especially when it's on a galactic scale, but that's what happened in the year 2112! 100 years after the formation of the United Terran Space Colony Alliance. A Terrorist dubbed Kotaro Yanagisawa declared his intentions to break away from the UTSCA and create the Federation of Independent Terran Colonies with Earth as its hub world. This was the opening act of the Intergalactic Terran Civil War! The Alliance vs the Federation. After 12 years the war is still going strongly with both sides in the deadliest stalemate ever seen
"Leading us to be stuck on this miserable rain soaked planet to prevent the Federation from gaining Solarim crystals to power their battle ships" a voice said interrupting the other soldier who looked up annoyed
"Karma, can't you see I'm documenting the war" the soldier said
"You and every other soldier! Look Sugino you're the best partner and one of my best friends in the squad, but can't you not be a stiffy so much and just relax?" Karma asked
Ignore the comment from the human incarnation of chaos known as Shock Trooper KA1611 Karma 'Demon' Akabane. My partner, backup and last remaining friend in this damn war. Yeah back at the academy we didn't like each other much, but we've grown to be better friends given the circumstances' Sugino recorded before pulling up a picture of him and Karma with their fellow cadets at the academy 'hard to think out of 28 students in Epsilon Class only 18 remain' he recorded 'the first of us to fall was Cadet Takebayashi while he was administering medical aid to the CO of our group.' Sugino paused in his recording
"Kotaro, Yuzuki, Kaede, Takuya, Taisei, Koki, Rinka, Rio, Sumire, Manami" Karma said their names out loud as he looked at a collection of dog tags "We miss you our dear comrades in arms" Karma said bowing his head
'Karma often feels immense guilt for the things that happen on the battlefield. Several times I've had to drag his ass back to cover before he was caught in an orbital bombardment. After all as an Alliance Drop Shock Trooper we all live by the motto 'FEET FIRST INTO WAR!' sometimes I wonder how long until Karma gets add to the list of fallen comrades' Sugino continue recording until a siren blared making the two Shock troopers look at each other, grab their weapons and run out of their shelter
"Where's the enemy?" Karma asked looking through the scope of his Assault rifle
"I can't see because of this rain!" Sugino said before a bullet scrapped his helmet
"DOWN!" Karma shouted pulling him down as he looked over the top
"What was that?" Sugino asked shocked
"I can't see anything, wait...FEDERATION GHOST-KNIGHTS!" Karma shouted
"They have to be stupid since the rain will form the shape of their cloaking armour" Sugino said.
"Dumbasses" Karma said pulling out his pulse rifle and scans the area before ducking back into cover while aiming at the way he came
"Oh yeah like that will work, where are you aiming at, you'll cause friendly fire!" Sugino exclaimed
"Just watch my 12" Karma said as he elevates the barrel a bit "Are they in range?"
"Yeah, any close and they'll be able to shove knives down our necks!" Sugino shouted
"Fire in the hole" Karma said squeezing the trigger, forcing hundreds of what look like fireflies shoot out of the rifle and fly over them
"What?" Sugino said looking mystified
"Something RND whipped up, tracker bullets." Karma said
"What?" Sugino asked
"You lock on your target, drop behind cover and the bullets home in on the marked targets" Karma explained
"That's cool" Sugino said before looking up "SCATTERER GRENADES!" he shouted as he pulled Karma back as pellets of white hot metal rained from above
"THAT ALCOVE!" Karma shouted as the two dove in as the deadly rain continued "I hate these things"
"Blame the Feds" Sugino said before activating his SMG's floodlight "I don't think this is just an alcove"
"What?" Karma asked seeing a tunnel behind it
"There's a tunnel further in" Sugino said
"well this is going to be fun" Karma said as he looked "Want to go in further?
"Do we have a choice?" Sugino said indicating the heavy downpour of fire, steel and water outside
"Stupid question" Karma said pulling out a torch.
"So I wonder what's down here" Sugino said
"No idea" Karma said as he looked back at his friend. "You think it was a good idea we became SHockers?"
"At the time" Sugino said "We were young, brash and too cocky to pick anywhere else" he sighed
"What would you have picked?" Karma asked
"I would have gone pro, gone through out the alliance throwing curveball after curveball and watch as the other teams try and stop them, what about you?" Sugino replied
"The senate" Karma smirked
"Of course you would say that" Sugino said sticking a light orb to the wall "I seem to remember that was you best subject, leadership" Sugino added
"And you would have made one specky grenadier" Karma said
"Specky?" Sugino asked annoyed
"its short for Spectacular, they usually use it in the Australis sector" Karma stated
"Do you remember the war of Adelaidous?" Sugino said stopping
"Who doesn't the first major lost for the Alliance since the first shots were fired on Mobossaria" Karma said
"How many lives did the alliance lose on that planet?" Sugino asked
"Too many" Karma spat.
"A waste of bullets they said" Sugino recalled kicking a rock, hitting something metallic causing the two to put their guns up
"What was that?" Karma asked picking up the object, which was something neither of them was expecting
"Damn, never thought I would see one of those here" Sugino said looking at a shoulder pad which held and alternate slogan 'FEET FIRST IN WAR BROTHERS ALL!' "What's the brother's all?"
"It was a part of the war song we use during the first expansion, talking about how the shock troopers were an army of brothers and that all of them would descend feet first into any war" Karma explained
"So why did we drop the song?"
"I have no ideas but we still descend feet first into all war" Karma said as he continued deeper into the tunnel.
Sugino and Karma froze when they heard the sound of machines, the two dove into cover as several Federations soldiers drove past them on scout bikes followed by a supply carrier.
"They must use this as a supply tunnel" Karma said
"So what are we going to do about this?" Sugino asked
"We head the way they came so that way we can figure out where their base is on this planet" Karma
"And if we're detected?" Sugino asked
"I don't know" Karma said as they carefully made their way down the tunnel with their weapons out but lowered so that way they wouldn't catch the attention of those who were likely to kill them
"Who do you think it could be?" Sugino asked
"I don't know" Karma said before a voice spoke out, this one being a feminine voice the two froze upon hearing it and looked over
"No" Sugino gasped
"It can't be, NOT HER!" Karam whispered as there clad in Federation attire was their dear friend Rio Nakamura
"But we saw her die, didn't we?" Sugino asked shocked
"I thought we did, her pod was destroyed over Arctaurus" Karma said not believing what he was seeing as he flashed back to the night before that mission, how the two of them spent it together in his bunk
"Karma, don't freak out on me man" Sugino said "Come on"
"Yeah sure" Karma said as he picked up his rifle and continued on further into the base. This was no longer going to be a simple mission to find out what was going on down in these secret tunnels since the pair had just found out that one of their believed to have been dead friends is now a Federation soldier.
"We'll find out how that happened to her" Sugino said as he looked back behind him to see if anyone was following them
"I was not expecting this" Karma said as he and Sugino looked out and saw that a massive Federation base was hiding underground
"We have to get this to command" Sugino said
"Yeah, also did you bring any bombs?" Karma asked
"What do you think" Sugino said showing off a collection of bombs in his backpack
"That will make a nice big BOOM!" Karma smirked as the two continued in down into the base looking around every now and then to see if they were going to be spotted
"You keno we could get in some serious trouble fi we're caught" Sugino said squeezing down a narrow passage
"Then get moving and keep quiet!" Karma said as he moved sideways down the pathway
"Aren't you concerned?" Sugino said
"I am, but we have a mission to complete" Karma said pausing as a guard passed below them
"One that we gave ourselves" Sugino said
"Still" Karma said as he looked around before signalling them to move on quietly
"And Nakamura?" Sugino asked deploying another bomb.
"I have no idea what to do with her" Karma admitted placing a bomb before quietly moving along
"Still we have to figure out how they got this base down here" Sugino said hiding a bomb
"Either way things are going to gte heated soon" Karma said
"Okay the last bomb is in place, let's get moving" Sugino stated
"Sure" Karma said as he started to move as well before a bolt of gunfire stoped them, making the two turn to see Kotaro smirking at them
"So when did you Alliance Vermin sneak into my base?" he sneered
"As soon as we smelt your ass" Karma shot back
"Cute" Kotaro said "I see you were in Karasuma's unit, oh yes the unit I all but destroyed" Kotaro said
"And yet you forced one of them to serve you!" Sugino snarled
"Ah yes, she was an interesting find, in fact she was going to be deployed soon" Kotaro said
"YOU BASTARD!" they snapped
"Enough of that anyway, get them" Kotaro ordered as his men opened fire while Karma and Sugino fired back and dove under cover
"Pull your butt in" Karma snapped
"Or what? I'm going to get shot there a fourth time?" Sugino snapped before a round missed his ass making him scramble into cover "Now one word"
"Okay" Karma said before laughing his ass off before being shot at,
"Hit the deck!" Sugino barked as the two fired back. "oh crap the bombs!"
"What about them?" Karma asked
"We put them on timed" Sugino paled making the two stare at each other in silence
"RUN!" the two shouted as they started to run as the clock counted down.
"Who's big idea was that?" Karma asked as he was running from the mass of soldiers
"YOURS! YOU RED JACKASS!" Sugino shouted
"Oh yeah, my bad" Karma said looking around "How long?"
"Five minute" Sugino stated. "No enough time" he admitted sitting down
"NO, not this time" Karma said
"Karma, face it game over, we'll be joining the others" Sugino shouted
"Like our motto said: 'FEET FIRST INTO WAR BROTHERS ALL" Karma reminded him
"Brothers all" Sugino said being pulled up and ready for the fight ahead of them
"We rescue Rio, get out of here and roast Kotaro once and for all!" Karma declared
"So how are we going to do that?" Sugino asled
"Follow me!" Karma said
"This is the last place we want to be" Sugino gulped down his fear
"No it's the perfect place, we can do our objective from" Karma smirked "Especially with those" Karma smirked
"You got to be kidding me, those are the KB-X 212 Rocket launcher system, what are they doing in the hands of the feds?" Sugino snarled
"They're not" Karma said picking one up and handing it to Sugino before taking one for himself and slinging it across his back
"Smart, hey see you on the other side" Sugino said holding up his hand
"Yeah, come gunfire or rain Brothers all" Karma said clapping his hand with Sugino.
"LET'S DO THIS!" they shouted before walking out of the cover they were hiding behind
"HEY EDDY FEDDIES!" Karma shouted loudly
"CATCH THESE!" Sugino roared as the two fired their rockets at the back wall making them explode creating chaos as the two pulled out their main weapons preceding them walking down two lanes of the hangar bay with their rifles blazing as they took down soldier after soldier while they walked down the lanes
"GRENADE!" a federation soldier said as he was about to throw it into the path of Karma
"KARMA!" Sugino said shooting the grenade as it left the soldier's hand, an explosion covering the soldier while Karma and Sugino flinched.
"Thanks" Karma said as he fired at more soldiers
"No worries" Sugino said before his rifle clicked "I'M OUT!
"I know it's a piece of Feddie junk, BUT HERE!" Karma shouted throwing Sugino a shotgun just as a Federation soldier came up behind him.
"THANKS!" Sugino shouted back firing at the soldier behind him before continuing down the lane as he fired looking for a replacement gun
"SWITCH" Karma said as the two switched sides and weapons, continuing down taking down enemies until they got a quarter of the way down. Where a flamethrower using soldier stepped up and pointed their weapon at the two
"COVER!" Sugino ordered as the two dived out of the way
"A PYRO! WHERE THE FLACK DID THEY GET ONE OF THEM!" Karma exclaimed
"I've got a plan" Sugino said sneaking away
"Where are you going?" Karma asked
"Just distract him alright!" Sugino snapped
"We better not be cooked" Karma snarled while shooting the Pyro trooper as Sugino snuck around the back as the Pyro tried to roast Karma "Any time now!" teh redhead barked
"Hold on, hold on" Sugino said aiming for the tanks on the back of the Pyro "Fire in the hole!" he shouted firing his gun making the tank explode
"WHAT WAS THAT!" Karma shouted dodging debris.
"YOU HAD A BETTER IDEA?" Sugino shouted
"WHY ARE WE YELLING!" Karma exclaimed
"THE EXPLOSION!" Sugino shouted back before the two held their breath and released it "You good?"
"Yeah you?" Karma replied
"Yeah" Sugino nodded.
"We're nearly done here" Karma smirked before they heard three guns behind him.
"Turn around" Rio said as she had two guns pointed on both of them while two troopers aimed at them
"Hey Rio" the two guys said
"Hello you two" Rio said with a wicked smirk
"Rio" Sugino said not believing what was in front of him
"Been a while hasn't it" Karma sneered
"So has, I'd say the battle of Fueraze where you left me to die" Rio said powering up her blasters.
"More like we saw you get caught up in that energy mine explosion!" Sugino snapped
"Well I was able to get out of the way of the mine and only suffer a concussion, Yanagisawa found me and regenerated the injuries my body had suffered from the entire fight now I am loyal to him and him alone. Now take aim" she said lifting her two blasters into view of them
"Hey Karma" Sugino said
"Yeah, Tomohito?" Karma replied
"Been an honour" Sugino said closing his eyes
"Same, see you on the other side" he said closing his eyes as well before the sound of blaster fire was heard
"I could kill you two" Rio said as Karma and Sugino opened their eyes "I'm been undercover for months! and what happens you two gravity cowboys come waltzing in and blow my operation, and probably this base up" Rio snapped
"What?" the two asked dumbfounded
"I'm with OMNI" Rio said "I was given a mission by them to go behind enemy line to find what data I could and get it back to them, when you two stumbled in here and messed it up" Rio growled putting her blasters away
"OMNI?" Sugino asked
"Office of Military and Naval Intelligence" Karma said
"Oh" Sugino said before he became alarmed when he saw that the timer was 0:01:30 "WE GET TO MOVE!"
"THIS WAY!" Rio barked as the two soldiers ran behind her as they reached an elevator
"What's this shit?" Sugino snapped
"A PDC! Pod deployment cannon, basically it's a ground based Helljumper deployment system!" Rio said
"Oh! the two said before smirking and grabbing Rio
"HEY!" she cried out as the three got inside the pod and hit the deployment button. Shooting them into the sky just as the bombs exploded
"THERE SHE BLOWS!" Karma laughed
"You two are way two reckless!" Rio said
"NO SHIT!" the two said before the trio saw out the window
"That view, I forgot about rising above the clouds" Rio said
"Yeah" Karma said
"IMPACT IN 3" Sugino said
"2" Karma counted
"1!" Rio declared as the pod landed "Welcome back to the ground"
"Thank you ma'am" SUgino said kicking the door open before the guys got out and helped Rio out. "Looks like we're hoofing it"
"How far?" Rio asked
"Five clicks" Karma said as they started walking before a carrier jet landed in front of them making the trio pull out their weapons
"WHERE HAVE YOU GUYS BEEN AND WHY IS RIO HERE?" the pilot asked over radio
"Long story, thanks for the pickup" Karma said
"Thanks man" Sugino said
"I can't believe this is how this ends" Rio said walking in and sitting down before the pilot took off.
G'day Guys Grizz here and this is the second fic I'm doing as apart of the Discord server I'm apart of, the last one I did kind of won that contest, so we decided to do another one, and this time I took inspiration from stuff like Republic Commando, Halo ODST and other fun sci-fi while having an element of friendship between Karma and Sugino since they were on the same unit together, so enjoy this fic and thanks to those who read, review, favourite and follow it.
