Chapter 1: The New-born from Darkness
Walking out of his house for the first time in days…Subaru will never get used to this since staying in his house is much more convenient…
Well, that what a hikikomori felt…and as he stepped outside, he can't help but narrow his eyes toward the 'outside world' light…
The weather is perfect…although being a shut-in, Subaru does exercises every day so he guesses that count…
But it is always such a drag to leave his house, luckily, it won't be for long…
Subaru rubbing his eyes while walking across the road, into the convenience store. Subaru lazily moved to the food and drink section of the shop…
Ah, what a drag…he just wants to get this over with…
Subaru quickly grabs a drink some chips and moved to the counter.
"That will be 363 yen." The employee said as Subaru reached for the money in his wallet.
Grabbing his stuff, Subaru left the store, now standing alone in the street. He rubbed his eyes while signs quietly, but something weird happened…
When he opened his eyes, he found that the entire scenery around him changed…into a more medieval style…and he widened his eyes in shock.
"I HAVE BEEN TRANSPORTED TO ANOTHER WORLD. " He shouted, not aware of the people around him looking
Oh, some kind of crazy guys he is, they must think…
So far, nothing has met his expectations…
First, he was not OP, as he is unable to use magic…
Second, he got fallen into the water…by accident…
Third, he was flat broke…
And now he is sitting in a dark alley, waiting for his tracksuit to get dry…way to go, Subaru.
He holds his phone and looks at his contact numbers…good, his contacts are still here, but look like it is useless…
And then, Subaru, which doesn't expect this to go against the anime he watched, rambling about his power, his weapons…well, seems like reality is different from games after all…
But…where is the girl that summoned him? Why was he here in the first place? There is supposed to be a girl, right?
Suddenly, he heard footsteps from the opening of the alleyway…could it be?
"Hey, is she finally here? The cute girl that summons me…?" Subaru simply cocked his head in curiosity
Nope! It was 3 ragged-looking men, if Subaru has to guess, they are definitely thugs. Could this day go any worse?
"What are you blabbing about?"
"If you don't want to get hurt, cough up whatever you got!" And as the leaders said that, he picked Subaru up from his shirt
"Move it, move it! You guys outta my way!" A blonde girl shouted in panic as she runs through the alley
"Is that the cute girl that summons me?" Subaru can't help but wonder out loud, and as Subaru gets his hope up, he was met with disappointment.
"Summoned? I dunno what you're talking about, but I'm busy! Sorry, live strong!" The girl said quickly as she shot him an apologetic smile and jump over the wall to the alley's end…
Subaru can't help but notice a different smell coming from her…
Well, isn't this world wonderful?
"Hey that didn't make you decide to be less hostile with me, by any chance did it?" Subaru, now, once again alone with three angry-looking thugs
"Actually, it rained on our parade and make things worse."
"Yeah, of course, hehe…" Subaru lets out a nervous laugh
Well, as he has once been told, this world was supposed to give him a superpower or something, or at least fighting abilities above average, and he doesn't see any way to get out of this situation…
His expression turns into confidence as he charges ahead.
"Lumps of XP!"
He easily delivered a swift hook towards the tallest thugs, and knock the short guy on the ground with a kick…he can feel his adrenaline and proceed to the last one, but before Subaru can charge toward him, he reveals 2 blades hidden from view…
Subaru flinched and jumped back in surprise, alarmed…
The thug looks quite confident and seeing this, Subaru was taken aback
The thug charged toward him while Subaru yelped in surprise, falling on his back…
Not waiting for him to respond, Subaru immediately received a kick to his face, and he writhed in pain…and soon the two thugs were knocked down get up and start beating him up as Subaru tried his best to shield himself
"Plays the game with us you die! Scum!"
Subaru…now, suddenly felt a tingling on his chest.
Rage…some things he has hardly felt before…and he can feel his pain fueling it…
Suddenly, Subaru widened his eyes as it turns red, he grabs one of the thug's leg
"What?" The thug yelped in surprise as he was dragged, hitting his head on the ground…
Now Subaru looks feral with red eyes, looks at them…
"Die." He said as he charged, punched the small thug directly in the face, knocking him out cold, and uses his feet to stomp on the thug on the grab, making him screamed in pain before falling unconscious…
And like that, he sprints toward the thug, who barely have time to take out his blades as Subaru's hand grabs his neck, raise the thug in the air, choking him…
The thug tried to slice the blade toward Subaru, but to his surprise, was blocked with what he sees as…a claw while Subaru, red-eyed with murderous intent, looking straight into him.
"Stop right there, villain!" A girl with silver hair, pointy ear…she is clearly an elf. Her clothes are coated in white, she looks like an angel…a heroine…
Subaru looks at her in astonishment, and the thug took this opportunity to break free and try to run away. Notice this, Subaru tried to chase the thug down when some icicles fly toward him, and Subaru jumps back to dodge the icicles, letting the thug get away…
Subaru turns to look at the silver hair girl behind him, eyes widened in surprise…and then he sprints toward the girl changing his target.
The girl tries to shoot as many icicles at him as she can, some managed to slice through his flesh, but mostly missed due to his high speed.
Just as he managed to get close enough to the half-elf to attack her, a frost shield appeared and block his claws.
"Sorry, but I'm not going to let you hurt my daughter." A cat seemingly appeared out of nowhere said.
"Thanks, Puck!" The girl said, before shooting another volley of icicles, forcing Subaru to jumps back…
"H…el…p," Subaru said desperately…intense hunger…he can't resist…
"What's wrong with him…Puck?"
"Lia, I think he might be a demi-human…he seems to have lost control, which most demi-human experienced during their first time turning to beast form…"
"What should we do, Puck?"
"In any case, we should try to knock him out, he will return to normal once he wakes up."
"Got it."
Emilia starts firing round bullets of ice toward Subaru, which he dodged most of them. Subaru then again sprint toward her at high speed but end up stopping mid-way.
Subaru looks down and saw his legs covered in ice, unable to move…and before he can react, he felt something hard knocked into his head…he felt his vision getting blurry before falling unconscious…
"Uh…what?" A boy waking up, confused as he looks at the environment around him…"Where am I?"
"Well, look! Someone finally decides to wake up."
"W-wha!" Subaru quickly yelped in surprise as he saw the face of a gigantic cat-like creature and quickly rolled out of there…
"Wow…how rude, I thought you might at least feel happy when you woke up." The cat widened its smile in mischief
Well, it's best to expect everything won't go his way in this world…
"I'm nowhere near happy at all!"
"By the way, do you have any idea why are you here." The cat's voice suddenly turned into a serious tone
"Uh…what?" Subaru asked in confusion
"You would have killed a bunch of people in the alley, that's what happened!" A silver-hair girl said expression annoyed
"To put it simply…" The cat-like creature said, "You went berserk, so you probably won't remember it…"
"Went berserk?"
"This behavior is familiar to demi-human when they were about to turn to their beast form…" The cat suddenly turns small, floating to Subaru's face "… This is suspicious because you don't seem to have any parts indicate that you are a demi-human…"
"Hey, you also attack me!"
"I did?!" Subaru's expression turned to shock "Sorry! Sorry! I'm so sorry!" Subaru bowed his head deeply, which made the girl surprised a bit
"U-uh, you d-don't need to…"
"Can there anything I do for you?" Subaru asked sincerely
"Well…do you have any idea about who stole my insignia?" The girl asking raising her brows a bit…
"And now you are tagging along…how convenient for you…" Puck said with a sign
"Hey, I caused you guy so much trouble, I would feel bad for not helping," Subaru said with passion
"Just don't cause us too much trouble…"
"Are you sure you want to go there alone?" Satella asked, sounding unsure
"Sure, sure. Don't come in until I say it's all alright, Satella." Subaru suddenly stopped when he saw Emilia flinched
"What?"
"N-nothing. If you can get my insignia back, I will apologize." Seeing Satella smiled at him, Subaru signed and opens the door…
Holding the light in his hand, he looked around the dark room…
"Hey…they are not that dark after all…" Weird, this light can't be that strong, right?
His nose suddenly caught a smell of something…unsettling, leaving an iron taste in his mouth
"What's that smell…it can't be anything good…" Subaru said as he descends further into the darkness, as the weird smell getting stronger…
Suddenly…he felt something sticky liquid on the ground…
Blood…
Then he saw it…a body of a giant, with a clean-cut on his neck, missing an arm…Subaru widened his eyes in horror.
Suddenly, Subaru jumped back, narrowly dodging a slash on his gut…his instinct is insane!
"My, my, I could have sworn I got you…you are faster than you look~" A woman in a black robe, her eyes are violet and her hair is a jet-black color reveals herself from the darkness…
"And who might you be?" Subaru asked, alarmed, if he has been a second slower, he would probably be lying on the ground, spilling his own gut…
"It's not my intention to reveal my identity this early, but oh well. My name is Elsa Granhiert, or as everyone knows by the name, the Bowel Hunter~" Elsa said, licking her lips "Your actions excite me, it will be even more exciting to see the color of your gut~"
Elsa said seductively and before Subaru can register the news, Elsa was moving so fast, making her way toward him.
Elsa smiles as she thought she had her target this one, but again took a step back, dodging an icicle impaling her head
"Oh! You finally come after all." Elsa said excitedly, her smile widened "I felt so excited, to think I can embowel both of you today…as you know, my last client wasn't very…entertaining."
"Shut up you villain!" Satella said…there is no doubt about it, Emilia must be the heroine type…truly an angel "Subaru, are you okay?"
Having someone cared for you like this…this must be heaven, or at least that what Subaru thought
"Stay back, Subaru, I can handle this," Satella said before releasing a barrage of icicles, which sadly Elsa was managed to dodge all…and Subaru finds himself dumbfolded, not able to do anything...
Her agility is another level compared to Subaru's berserk state…
"I expect better from you but oh well…" Elsa makes an expression of disappointment
And likes that, Elsa is getting closer to Satella without getting a hit…and before she can make a decisive blow-
"Not on my watch!" Subaru throws a sword he found on the floor…quite bloody, but still usable toward Elsa, and that appears to have wound her…uh…a little bit in the cheek, but still, Subaru was impressive with his accuracy.
"Just now, I do feel a little bit annoyed-" Satella interrupts Elsa by shooting another barrage of icicles, which luckily some hit her while she was distracted, but in reality, Elsa seems to be fine, or maybe she has some kind of pain resistance, cause that would be annoying…
"I must admit this might have gone long enough..." Elsa, now hiding in the shadow said "I should end this quickly, otherwise my contractor would be mad~"
Elsa, now with a creepy smile, emerged from the shadow with incredible speed, Subaru can barely see her…until she crept up before Satella
Subaru doesn't know what he is doing now, as he runs as fast as he can to reach Satella, trying to help her…but it is too late…
Before he can see, Satella collapsed on the ground, her blood is everywhere…unaware of the danger, Subaru keep running toward, kneel before this girl he just met not long ago...Satella...
"Satella…no…please answer me-" Elsa seems to be hesitate at the name, but only for a while...
And before Suabru knew, he was met with a quick clean slice on his neck…as he collapses to the floor and begins drowning in his own blood…
Is this the end…?
"I…am…" Subaru said as he tried to keep his conscious
"…going…to…"
"…sa…ve y…ou-" And with another quick slash…darkness…
In this endless sea of darkness, Subaru felt so lost…
"Did I die?" Subaru questioned…but not waiting for an answer…that experience is too real…
The pain is too real…
"How pitiful…" A voice, obviously from a girl emitting from behind Subaru's back…he turned around…
He saw a little girl with hair covered with an ashen color, which she has tied in two tails. She looks like a 14-year-old, but something about her…like a weird aura, made Subaru felt uncomfortable…she wears a pitch-black straitjacket with white clothing inside, and she is chained to a coffin.
"W-who are you?" Subaru asked, confused about his situation…he died, and then…
Is this the afterlife…is this his reaper, preparing to end his life with insult and shame from his incompetence to protect someone?
"…" The girl signs, clearly sound bored "My name is Daphne, or as you might know, the Witch of Gluttony…"
Silence filled the air around them…
"W-witch?" Subaru asked…he heard about witches in his word before, but this world's concept is clearly different from him…
"Yes. And you-" Daphne said before stopping "What's your name?"
"Natsuki Subaru…my name is Natsuki Subaru."
"Subaru…huh. But on top of that, you certainly disappointed me…you are my latest creation, and yet you can't defeat a little mouse." Daphne signs "You are lucky…or not…because you can't die…"
"What?"
"A Witch gives you a power for you to return after death…specifically…the Witch of Envy, I think. Either way, when you die, you will return to some who-know-when point before you died…and that probably that." Daphne said, rolling her eyes…if it wasn't for that, her power would have gone to waste…
Well, the White Whale, another creation of her, used to be pretty weak, too…but now it is overpowered…instead of humanity's hunger is satisfied by it, it satisfied its hunger by eating human…that was a grave mistake of her, but fighting for food and survival is another part of the natural cycle as well-
"Why would anyone do that…I'm useless…" Subaru said, he failed to protect Emilia and managed to get himself killed…
With this power and its nature, he is sure he is going to die sooner or later, but he can save lives with this…but on top of that, this power can be used by someone more suitable than a shut-in NEET…
"I do believe her taste is…strange, but she chose you for a reason and speaking of that, you do remind me of someone I knew…" Daphne suddenly looks thoughtful "Anyway, that's a story for another time…"
"You said I'm your creation…what do you mean?" Subaru finally said…this girl, or in his world that would be the so-called loli…is someone not to be underestimated
"You are officially one of the Three…no…Fourth Great Demon Beast…" Daphne said before her smile creeping up
"Arise my creation…The Demon Beast of Despair…The Spirit Wolf."

Sorry…that was a bit too flashy at the end…I'm still new to this…
Needless to say, Aside from the name being quite…embarrassing, it actually sounds a little epic, don't you think. No, just kidding, if you can think of any name that is not cringy, please let me know
And I'm not sure if this the kind of fanfic want to write, but anyway, let see about that…
And if you wonder how this story works? Now Subaru is in contact with two witches! The Witch of Envy, Satella. And the Witch of Gluttony, Daphne. I will explain more if I decide to write the next chapter.
