Author's Notes; Mythological AU. Werewolf meets Vampire. Plot. This is an idea I inadvertantly gave myself while working on the Vampire meets Merman fic, Land and Sea. Just as another recent work in progress, this one is also subject to my current bout of R18 experimentation so watch out for R18 "creativity" in later chapters, please..For now, please enjoy..

A young injured werewolf ran away from the only home and pack he knew, seeking shelter and a chance to lick his bleeding wound. He was a small werewolf with dark brown fur and green eyes instead of the common yellow or red with a bushy long tail and short black 'socks' on his feet. In his travels, he spotted an old house that happened to have a small dog door installed. In front of that house was a large garden. The werewolf was respectful enough to avoid the garden before carefully slipping through the old dog door.

The werewolf panted sitting just before the dog door he got in through. He was trying to comprehend it all. He had been kicked out of the only pack and home he knew, his parents died in a fight among packs, and he had no friends. In his contemplation, he didn't hear the sound of footsteps approaching from above, whimpering gently.

The werewolf slowly got up after licking his wound, only to bump into a pair of legs in black pants. The young werewolf slowly looked up. In front of him stood what appeared to be a bare chested human with red webbed wings at his sides. His arms had longer black 'socks' than the werewolf. The man had blue eyes and a thick mane of red hair, circles of black surrounded his eyes. Long fangs jutted from under his upper lip. The werewolf backed away, whimpering more.

The strange creature soon spoke. "I thought I heard whimpering and smelled blood. Though I see the source to be a young werewolf. What brings a werewolf pup into my home?" The werewolf whimpered more, adding barks and grunts, but the man couldn't understand him. "You are a werewolf, correct? Perhaps you can change into your human form? I can't understand your speech as a werewolf." The werewolf was able to do that much, changing into a human boy in his early teens. The man sat down on his knees to get level with him. "What's your name?" The boy shyly spoke, holding his broken arm. "Eh..X..I was just kicked out of my own pack and home." The man tilted his head. "Why so? And why are you injured?" The boy looked down. "Our pack and another got in a fight recently, but this was done by the higher ranking werewolves, trying to make me leave." The boy then looked up. "Humans don't have long fangs and wings..You're a vampire, aren't you?" The man nodded. "Yes, I am." X tilted his head. "Then, why aren't you trying to get rid of me too? Our kinds are enemies." The man chuckled. "I believe in giving chances, bare minimum. It gives me a better idea of what's a threat and what isn't."

X was a little surprised. "What's your name? Are you the only one here?" The man nodded. "Zero. And yes. I am a lone vampire. My parents were killed and I have no friends." X felt sorry for him and comforted at the same time. "You sound just like me. Or rather, you have the same sort of lack of companionship as I do. Umm..if its ok with you, can I stay here with you? At least until my arm heals?" Zero moved closer and licked the blood from X's arm. "It will never heal as it." X blushed for the licking on his arm. "Wait..what are you doing?" "Hold still." Zero insisted, holding X's arm gently. X saw a red glow from Zero's hand, wondering what he was trying to do. Zero let go after a few minutes. X was surprised to feel no pain and that his arm could move as it was supposed to again. "You healed me. Why?" Zero chuckled. "No need for my guest to be in pain. You're free to stay as long as you want." X tilted his head. "Thank you, but are there any rules for me to follow?" Zero nodded. "A few. Don't make a mess of things. Try not to disturb me in the day as I sleep then." X nodded back. "Yes, master. Can you help me up? I'm not used to my human form." Zero got behind X and carefully helped him stand. "Then you shall be a little more accustomed to it after this night passes."

All X wore as a human was a loincloth, covering his rear and hiding his length. Zero loaned X some underwear and pants that were about X's size. He was also able to find X a fitting shirt to help keep him warm. "I feel so indebted to you. I feel like there must be something I can do for you in return. Though, are you ok if I call you my master?" X said as Zero eased X to the den. Zero shrugged. "I don't mind being called Master. Though I ask nothing of you in return." X pouted a little. "But there must be something...What if I guarded your garden during the day while you sleep?" Zero looked at him, helping him sit down. "Are you good at hunting?" X shook his head. "That's why I was kicked out. I've never been able to catch or kill anything. I don't like killing. I am a good runner though." Zero sat down beside X. "You can guard the garden then. You won't have to kill anything, just drive away any pests you see." X grinned. "Thank you, Master."
