Author's Note: I had a scene, and I ran with it. Decided to post because someone out there might enjoy some little interactions between them! ^^

"They're gay… right?" Brian asked.

Pepper shot him with a look, "Obviously- you see how they're acting! All those cheeky smiles and the eyelash fluttering going on- they're not fooling anyone! And plus," she added after taking a breath, "Only couples eat dinner together like that! You won't see 'just friends' spoon feeding the other off their own plate!"

Wensleydale nodded quickly, "It's true, my parents have one of those 'special' dinners every Saturday night."

Brian mused, "Is that why we're never allowed over on Saturdays?"

Wensleydale gave an involuntary shudder, "That- among other things,"

The gross look on his face caused his friends not to question further. They let the silence trail off for a moment, busying themselves with the cookies Anathema had provided. They had yet a few more minutes before Adam would join them- his parents weren't too pleased with his messy room and had subtracted his free time as a result.

Brian looked out the window again, assured that neither angel nor demon would notice (or care really) that they were the prime focus of the Them's attention.

They watched as Aziraphale laughed at something Crowley said- the demon snickering at his own joke. Brian couldn't catch their words, but it had to be an inside joke, judging from the way Aziraphale held onto Crowley's shoulder with one hand, and clutched at his hand.

Was that weird? No- Brian had two moms and didn't think their love was any different from anyone else's. A bit more annoying, however, was their combined nagging on him to keep his room clean. That he didn't like.

It also made him think of something that was weird, but in a different way. All this heaven and hell battling made him wonder… and he voiced it out loud, "You think they're allowed to do that?"

Pepper shot him with a look, "Why not? They're in love- shouldn't they be allowed to eat lunch like honeymooners?"

Wensleydale made a strange face, "That's rich- coming from you."

Brian replied with wide eyes, "That's not what I meant!"

"Then what did you mean?" Pepper retorted, arms folded and ready to lash her tongue out at anything Brian would have to say, "You better not say anything stupid Brian- else I swear you're not even going to-"

Brian sputtered, hand gesturing to the two of them outside, "ANGEL! DEMON! Aren't they supposed to be, you know- enemies? Isn't it weird that they're feeding each other? "

He didn't notice how his shout caught the attention of three very special individuals. One, the angel trying to get his demon to taste an apple slice. Two, the demon ironically trying not to be tempted into eating said apple. And thirdly, Adam who had just walked in to his friends shouting about two of his most important friends.

And just like that, Aziraphale disappeared from the table. Brian jumped when he heard Crowley give an exasperated groan, running his hand down his face, "Oh- now you've done it- he was just loosening up!"

Crowley looked more annoyed than angry- but yet Brian stuttered out, "I'm sorry- I didn't mean- not like that-"

Crowley waved him off, hands gesticulating casually, "Don't worry about it- he'll come around. He's just spooked sometimes. Whole heaven and hell business- makes him wary about...us..."

The last word held some kind of emotion with it- something that none of the children recognized. Not even Wensleydale, who claimed to have seen almost every emotion an adult could show. He guessed it didn't apply to demons and angels then.

Adam opened the gate, making his presence known. Crowley lifted a hand in his direction, and Adam returned it, asking quickly, "Will he be alright? Aziraphale- is he going to be alright?"

Crowley nodded, squinting up at the skies, "Yeah- he's gonna be fine. Just tickety-boo."

That earned a giggle from Wensleydale- and Adam didn't fail to notice how Crowley gave a tiny smirk at that. For being a demon, he really did like kids. That went against almost everything Adam was taught about demons, but he was beginning to realize that the world was not as it seemed, not in the least.

Adam watched as Crowley plucked the last apple slide from the plate, he made a face, "I would have eaten it- if he had asked again." He threw it down, "All that tempting- wasted!"

Wensleydale spoke up, "Um… Mr. Crowley-Demon sir?"

Crowley winced, and looked over his shoulder, "Whah?"

"Um… are you gay?"

Every single person fized their gaze to the nervous boy, and Wensleydale fidgeted under the scrutiny.

Crowley gave a grin- one that both calmed and entertained the boy, "Well- I'd have to be human man to be gay, wouldn't I?"

Pepper replied, "Clearly- he's not human. So he can't be gay. Duh."

Crowley sat upright, a devilish grin gracing his features, "Now, if you want to know if I love Aziraphale- then that's a yes. Always yes- I always have been in love with that angel. Handsome thing, isn't it? Fancy him liking someone like me."

Pepper replied, "We know- it's like, too obvious,"

Crowley almost looked pleased, "It is, isn't it?"

Wensleydale frowned, eyebrows wrinkled behind his glasses, "It's obvious to us-"

Pepper interrupted, "Obvious to everyone really-"

Wensleydale continued, "Then why does Mr. Fell act so…"

Brian put in, "Weird. Strange-"

Adam provided, "Scared…"

Pepper asked, "Is it because of heaven?"

Adam lowered his eyes, and then spoke softly, "It's true isn't it? They have eyes everywhere… are they still watching you?"

Crowley shrugged loudly, and looked back to the skies, "Maybe they are- maybe they're not. I don't know, don't really care either. The wankers could look all they want- I never had a problem with it."

Adam filled in, "But Aziraphale… he doesn't like it, does he?"

"Never did," Crowley confirmed, and pushed his sunglasses up, "Bothers him a lot, it does."

Pepper demanded, "Why? You're not doing anything wrong- you don't have to hide from anybody!"

Brian interrupted, "They're an angel- and demon. That's wrong… isn't it?"

"Why should it be?" Pepper retorted, "I think it's a good thing a demon and angel are together- they're stronger like that,"

Adam watched as Crowley gave a bright grin at that- clearly agreeing with Pepper's words. Brian, on the other hand- was still nervous about the whole thing. It didn't click to him as easily as the others, and Adam would have to break it down for him before Pepper could drill it into his head, along with a bunch of insults.

Crowley gestured to Pepper, "Girl's got it right- we're stronger together. Always have been,"

Wensleydale, "Then why's he still so afraid? Shouldn't angels be brave?"

Crowley scrambled up from his seat, blinking at the children from over his glasses, "What makes you think he isn't brave? He's the bravest angel I know!"

Pepper asked with a sly grin, "And how many angels do you know?"

Crowley rolled his eyes, "Six- but that's not the point. Aziphale's the bravest of them all, no argument needed."

Wensleydale sent a grin to the others before commented, "You're just saying that because you looove him."

"And if I do?" Crowley crossed his arms, feigning stubbornness, "It's not a secret,"

Brian whispered, "But you're a demon- demons don't love?"

"This demon does," Crowley pointed to himself, but there was a hesitance there, as though Crowley himself didn't quite believe it. Adam didn't understand what that meant, shouldn't everyone be able to love, and be loved in return?

Pepper arched a brow at Brian, "That's stupid- if demons can't love, then why does Crowley love his angel?"

"Oy- only I get to call him my angel. You call him by his name,"

Pepper rolled her eyes, "Same thing,"

Wensleydale tried, "It really isn't-"

"Shut up Wensleydale," Pepper interrupted him, "It's the same thing. Love is love- doesn't matter who or what they are!"

Crowley chuckled, "I rather like that sound of that. Anyways children- what are we doing on this glorious day?"

Wensleydale said, "We were going to-"

Pepper spoke over him, "We were going to play a new game today, but we're waiting for Adam,"

Crowley stretched his shoulders, "Sounds interesting- but I'm afraid I have to go, got an angel to wait for you know,"

Wensley asked, "Why do you have to wait for him? I mean, when my mom is upset, my dad goes to her with a cup of tea,"

Crowley wrinkled his nose, "Egh… I could- but I - you see, he needs his privacy, you know? Angel business and stuff, when he's good he'll call me,"

Adam inquired softly, "And if he's not good? Won't you check up on him?"

"Nah- if he's in a really bad shape, he'll call me, simple as that," Crowley adjusted his jacket, "There's really no need for me to intrude on him. I'll wait on him, I always do…"

Adam added, "We know," and he sent a look back to his friends, as if they were the ones sharing a secret.

Crowley arched a brow, but he gave a small smirk, "If that's all- I shall be taking a nap. All day- maybe two days if Azira's feeling really out of it."

Wensleydale jumped up, "Wait- what if Mr. Fell comes here? What do we tell him?"

Crowley shrugged, "Tell him I'm taking a nap- he knows where to find me."

Pepper asked, in that slightly teasing tone of hers, "Do you know where to find him? I mean, if you really care- you would go, wouldn't you?"

Crowley laughed- throwing his head back before looking back to the children, "That's great- just great. I'll have you know, that I invented that. You can't possibly guilt me into disturbing him,"

Adam asked, "What if you're not disturbing him? What if he wants your company?"

"Egh… that's debatable,"

Adam replied, "It really isn't. Aziraphale loves you too,"

Crowley winced- and it suddenly occurred to the children that while Crowley may admit his own love for the angel, that there was a big part of the demon that didn't quite believe that Aziraphale loved him back.

Pepper said aloud, "Well that's just stupid,"

Wensleydale whispered, "You can't just tell a demon he's stupid!"

Crowley waved it off, "Used to it- demons and stupidity go together a lot you know. You'd be amazed at it."

None of the children liked the sound of that, and none of them knew it, but they all immediately made a silent promise to never call Crowley- or let anyone else- call him stupid. And maybe they each told themselves they'd bring this up with his angel- maybe an angel could fix a demon's self-esteem.

And as though angels could be summoned with thoughts, the children watched a flustered Aziraphale materialize into the garden. He stumbled, conveniently falling into Crowley's arms.

Crowley's entire face lit up, "Teleporting- twice in an hour, that's new."

Aziraphale quickly pulled himself out of the grip, and Crowley didn't act surprised. Instead, the children watched at Aziraphale neaten his impeccable clothes, and grip his hands together, mouth opening and closing and yet staying silent. He glanced to the children, waving slightly. They each waved back.

Crowley waited, crossing his arms without ever letting his smile drop, "Well- what happened?"

"I'm so sorry my dear," the angel wrung his hands nervously, alternating glances between the ground, and Crowley, "I got so skittish- I had to disappear for a while. I panicked- not that I would run if I were panicked, it's just that- the panicking, was not me. I meant to say- the panicking was not planned- it happened completely without my doing."

"It's fine," Crowley replied casually, "I knew you'd come back soon,"

"You did?"

"Oh yeah- definitely." Crowley's lips curled into a smirk, and Adam was amazed how it made Aziraphale relax at once.

But yet, the demon had a lot more calming to do- Aziraphale was still a bit tight lipped, and it's here Adam saw how far they both have to go. Even though they claimed to be know each other for over 6000 years, and it was obvious that it was true, did they really know what the other needed?

Yes, judging by the way Crowley walked next to Aziraphale, talking about the apple slices he left behind- and how Aziraphale seemed to relax in his presence. They did know what each other needed- but didn't quite deliver it without some kind of hesitance.

Brian shrugged, "Well- that's adults for you. So weird."

Only then did the children direct their attention away from the angel and demon pair, and they spent the rest of their afternoon playing Brian's silly game of pretending they were angels and demons (Adam was a demon, of course). They pretended they snuck out of heaven and hell, and played secret spying games on the 'human' couple in front of them. Aziraphale and Crowley indulged them by pretending they didn't once suspect the children's mischief. The children pretended they didn't see how Crowley didn't stop smiling.

It was all very splendid, nothing else to complain about.
