Standing in the rain looking over his eastern lands from the cliff where a fresh mound of dirt covered with a blanket of daisies, Kouga watched silently with his tears flowing mixed in the fresh falling rain. His heart hurt not only for his clan but for the newborn cub who will not have its mother care and love.

He blamed and cursed himself for not giving her the care and love she deserved. She was beautiful, strong and a natural warrior but not enough to love her back as she did for him. His obligation was to provide an heir to his land which she did unselfishly without being mated to him.

"Hey boss. Ya gonna get sick." Ginta called out.

"Ya got the cub to think about now." Hakukka added.

Ginta and Hakkuka approached slowly not knowing how their leader would react.

Kouga stood unmoved.

"I might be outta line but Ayume agreed to give ya an heir without mating. She loved ya that much even tho ya still love sis. She wouldn't want ya to feel this way."

"The cub needs ya. It's with the wet nurse right now. Everyone will help ya."

"Ginta, Hakkuka...I need to get away for a while. Keep watch and take care of things until I return." speeding off without a response.

Both wolves watched their leader take off into the pouring rains.

"He didn't even see the cub yet or asked what it is."

"Give him some time. He didn't know going to the borders to fight those oni for months right after his first time with her would keep him away this long. He didn't even know until the messenger came saying she was ready to give birth. We should have stayed behind to finish them off instead of him. It's sad she passed while holding the cub asking for boss."

"We will keep our promise to Ayume and protect her cub." Ginta wipes away his tears.

"And look over boss." Hakkuka placed an arm around Ginta as they went back into the cave to check on the heir to the eastern lands.
