Hello everyone it's your friendly neighborhood Sugar Nerd with a PSA for all Ouran High School Hosts Club fans. New and old but mostly old. Now I know you guys wanna write fanfiction and I support that but I would like to take a moment to tell all you newbies a lil something. Please don't think I'm mean or going after your livelihoods or imaginations.

Now, that we've gotten the friendly part of my name out of the way, we can begin with my friendly neighborhood tips. First and foremost, I've said this for many years but in the Ouran High School Hosts Club fandom, we welcome everyone with open arms.

However, there is sort a lil thing that I'd like to address. Fanfiction written about school shootings happening at Ouran Academy isn't funny, cute or dramatic. This kind of thing doesn't happen in Japanese schools. As unlike America, Japan has strict gun control laws. What does this mean?

This means that Japan doesn't give guns to mentally unstable individuals and it's very hard to obtain a firearm. Mass shootings don't happen in schools there. Stabbings do but even then, it's a rare occurrence in schools. The last incident took place in 2001 in Osaka.

This type of tragedy doesn't happen often there. Please also take into account Japan is way different than America and they're not NRA pawns. So, the idea of a school shooting happening at Ouran is unlikely. I know that many people want to bring light to the subject but killing off characters for the sake of shock value and drama isn't cute, fun nor is it a good idea for a plot point.

Having one of the twins get murdered in front of the other isn't cute, funny, or good for plot as then you turn around and have the surviving twin commit not alive in the next chapter. Please understand that you cannot just run around doing this. There are people in the fandom who might have PTSD from experiencing school shootings and might be triggered by this. Please also take into consideration of the location the series takes place in. It doesn't take place in America nor do these horrific things happen in Japan. So, I am asking all of you out there who are new to the fandom or who are old to the fandom please leave school shootings as a plotline alone. It isn't funny, cute, fun, amusing, or a good idea for a storyline. Remember this happens a lot in America but it doesn't happen in Japan. If you want a tragic plotline then do something more than resorting to using a school shooting as your go-to plotline.

Now I am not going to be petty and expose the author(s) who use this plotline but I ask that if you see this, please take into consideration to rethink your plans and choose something else. I am not discouraging fanfiction writers but don't use that plotline for views, clicks, likes, follows, and reviews. It is not something you should use to get clout.
