Dragons. What primarily comes to mind upon hearing the word "fantasy". Winged, scaly creatures that unleashed hellstorms and infernos with a single breath. Cultures throughout history have told tales about these "beasts" that brought havoc and destruction to villages and cities. We listened to these stories like children, passing the creatures off as myths. If you asked us then, we'd say the dragons were part of the lore of ancient civilizations.
But if you asked us now, we'd say those stories were a warning.
Because as crazy as it might sound, dragons are real, living, breathing animals. And we learned that the hard way. The date was March 26, 2010. Then, we called it Friday. Now, we call it the Resurgence. For reasons unknown, the dragons have remained in seclusion for who-knows-how-long. Why they choose to show themselves now is also unknown to us.
Nations flew into confusion and panic in the first week. Cities burned and turned the sky black and orange. Unfamiliar creatures ran rampant for months like wild animals. And people died trying to flee or fight the creatures. As of now, our future lies uncertain now that the dragons are here. We're trying to get them under control, but we don't know where that will lead us. Will they learn to avoid us or establish us as a threat?
It's been almost ten years since they came into our lives… or is it "came back"? Anyway, if we are to avoid dangerous encounters with these animals, we must look back into the past. From the earliest days of the Resurgence to how our way of life changed thanks to the dragons, these are our stories. You can help us make a better future with them… but only if you're willing to listen.
