No Matter What
Here I am with another story, a oneshot this time. I've always loved future Trunks and when Dragon Ball Super played and we see him and Mai in the Goku Black saga, I was just like okay wait I have make a story with these and here I am. I had this idea in my head months ago and in terms of actually writing it, that only happened like almost two weeks ago and circumstances prevented me from uploading but now I can XD. So let's go!
As you saw, it is an M rated story and that's because there is sexual content and if that's what you thought and clicked this cuz that's what you signed up for, then by all means read on.
Disclaimer: Dragon Ball Super doesn't belong to me.
It's a beautiful day in the future timeline, a year has passed since Goku Black was defeated. The world was still recovering but after what everyone had been through, rebuilding was a lot less daunting than barely surviving.
Trunks and Mai had been living together for a year now as well. They'd always had feeling for each other and going through a world crisis had only brought them closer together. They'd risked their lives for each other and stayed together throughout the chaos. Now peace and normalcy was all that awaited them.
The streets were busy as cars drove up and down, people travelling to work and various locations. Their apartment was spacious but homey and thanks to the supplies Bulma from the past had given them, setting up had been easier.
It was just after seven a.m. when Trunks woke up. One of the best night's sleep he'd had in a very long time. He turned to his side to see Mai still fast asleep. He smiled to himself and watched her for a while before caressing her cheek. This was his life now—no more battles and undefeatable opponents from beyond the stars but, waking up next to the woman he loved every morning. Not wanting to disturb her, he slowly got out of bed and headed to the kitchen to make breakfast for them both.
An hour later, Mai opened her eyes and stretched in the blankets and noticed she was in bed by herself. Trunks was always more of a morning person than she was, always the first of them to wake up. She got out of bed, got changed and put her gown on and walked to the kitchen. She could smell something sensational before she even saw what had been served.
The breakfast table was spread with different dishes from eggs and bacon to pancakes as well.
"Wow! What's all this for?" she stood at the end of the table while Trunks fried the last of the bacon.
"I just felt like going all out." He answered as she walked up behind him and put her arms around his waist and rested her head against his shoulder. He turned around and put his arms around her before leaning in for a kiss. Mai immediately responded and moved her arms around his neck and kissed back again and again. She reluctantly pulled back, to his protest.
"If we carry on like this the food will get cold." She teased and went to sit at the table.
They sat together at the table and ate and talked. Mai decided to do the dishes since Trunks had cooked. He went to take a shower in the meantime.
As soon as she finished she went back to their bedroom. Trunks had just come out of the shower and walked into the bedroom when Mai walked inside. Trunks saw the mischievous gleam in her eyes and knew what she had in mind when she walked over to him.
"I thought we could continue from where we left off in the kitchen." Her arms went around him.
"Right now?" he smirked and held her against him.
"Unless you don't want—" he kissed her before she could finish speaking. She sighed as she deepened the kiss. Without separating, they walked to the bed. Trunks sat down and Mai straddled his waist. She tangled her fingers in his hair while his hands moved up her thighs and underneath the gown she was wearing.
Mai quickly undid the rope and slipped the garment off her shoulders and removed it completely. Trunks pulled back slightly to take her in. She was wearing her favourite black lace underwear. It was his favourite too. He wasn't as surprised as he thought he'd be when he found out that this little number was his mother's idea. Whenever he'd visited the past, she was always, not so subtly, hinting that she was ready for grandkids.
"You were wearing this the whole time?" he said with a smirk.
"If I'd walked into the kitchen like this, we'd never have had breakfast." She then leaned in and bit his lip with a cheeky smile.
"Fair enough." He agreed before pulling her in for another passionate kiss, his arms around her waist.
He was laying on his back with Mai over him, her hands slowly, sensually travelling down his chest and stopping just below his navel, he let out a deep sigh. She loved to tease him.
He flipped them over so she was on her back, his usual response to her teasing. He was gonna get her back. Her laughs were immediately replaced by pleasured moans as he began kissing her along her neck. She combed her fingers through his hair as his lips planted kisses over her skin. She gripped the bedsheets as he kissed lower down her neck and over her collarbone. Mai tightly wrapped her legs around his waist and heard a moan escape his lips as she swayed her hips, both of them lost in their world of pleasure and desire.
Xxx
Mai was about to close the tap as she'd finished showering but felt a cold draft and strong arms wrap around her waist. She had a knowing grin.
"And you say I'm the wild one." She enjoyed the feeling of his hands sliding over her body.
"You started this." He kissed her shoulder before turning her around and picking her up and pressing her against the wall. He teasingly brushed his lips over hers. Mai wrapped her legs around him and held him as close to her as she could when he slipped inside her.
He moved at a comfortable pace, each thrust eliciting a moan from them both. She threw her head back as he went deeper, gripping his shoulders and holding his dripping wet body completely against her own, feeling him up and down.
After their shower, they spent the rest of the day at home relaxing. Mai left in the afternoon to buy groceries for dinner. It was near sunset when she saw Trunks standing on the balcony, she went to join him. He looked deep in thought.
"What's on your mind?" she asked standing next to him, also taking in the beautiful sunset.
"I can't believe it's been a year already. A year since our world finally got peace again."
"You're part of the reason we're here now." She leaned on his shoulder.
"And a year of us as well. It feels too good to be true." He put his arm around her shoulder.
They remained as they were and watched night time take over in comfortable silence. The stars were brighter than usual.
After midnight Mai was woken up from her sleep, Trunks was restless.
"Trunks." She gently shook his shoulder but it did nothing. She could see the stress on his face. Whatever he was dreaming about, it was intense. Mai tried again and again to wake him but, still nothing.
"Get away from her!" he yelled in his sleep. "Mai!" he was sweating and gripping the bedsheets tightly.
"Trunks, I'm right here, wake up!" she was worried, why wasn't he waking up? She was shaking and calling out to him but his nightmare had too strong a grip on him. However, before she could try again, Trunks shot up from his sleep and pushed her down against the bed with one hand. The other hand in a fist, a ball of energy lighting up his hand.
Mai looked up at him, he wasn't completely awake. He was acting out his dream. Mai tried to sit up but he was too strong.
"Trunks, please! Wake up already!" she screamed
His eyes snapped open, he was breathing heavily but he was finally awake. He was frozen on the spot, trying to make sense of his environment. He finally looked down and saw the tears leaving Mai's eyes.
"Mai…" he said breathlessly.
"You were having a nightmare. Are you okay?" she slowly sat up.
Trunks remembered his nightmare and began shaking. He sat at the edge of the bed and buried his face in his hands. Mai sat next to him.
"I was reliving what happened with Black. I was fighting him again but then he went after you and I completely lost it. I didn't know I was actually moving around in my sleep. I almost hurt you," he finally looked at her. "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine." She put her hand on his shoulder.
"I'm sorry, Mai." He hugged her tightly and let his tears fall.
"It's okay, it's okay." She held him tight and rubbed his back.
After he'd calmed down, he reluctantly agreed to go back to sleep. Mai convinced him she'd be fine and he lay down next to her. She rested her head on his chest and closed her eyes and they fell asleep.
Morning came, this time Trunks woke up after Mai. She was sitting up reading a book when he opened his eyes. She looked down at him with a small smile.
"See? Nothing happened. You slept through the night just fine." She brushed the hair out of his face. She got out of bed and went to make breakfast. She told Trunks to rest a bit more.
However what had happened that previous night was more than an isolated incident. The following two nights were the same. Trunks screaming through another nightmare and thrashing around in his sleep and, each time he'd almost injured Mai in the process. She'd always managed to wake him up before he did any real damage.
She hadn't been so lucky on the third night.
Trunks was by far at his worst, yelling that he was going to kill Black for killing Mai. This time both of his hands were glowing with built up energy. Mai was sitting over him trying, in vain, to wake him up. Tears streaming down her face and her heart racing in her chest, trying to get through to Trunks and tell him that she was okay.
In the chaos of it all, he'd grabbed Mai by her waist, the energy still radiating off him. He'd burned through her pyjama dress shirt and his hand made contact with her skin and, sent a searing pain through her. His hand was scalding to the touch. She screamed in agonising pain.
"Trunks, stop!"
Mai's scream tore him from his nightmare. When he looked around the room in panic, he saw Mai collapsed on the bed clutching her right side, her face twisted in pain. Her eyes were squeezed shut, tears running down her face and her breathing was heavy. He knew he'd done the unthinkable. He checked on her immediately and saw the burn mark she was covering with her hands. He raced to the bathroom and wet a cloth and brought it back in the room.
He repositioned her so her head was in his lap and slowly moved her hands away and gently pressed the cloth against her skin. She grit her teeth and squeezed his free hand before easing up and calming her breathing.
After a few minutes she opened her eyes. She looked up to see Trunks, guilt and worry taking over his features.
"I wasn't able to wake you up in time, I'm sorry." Her voice as horse.
"You shouldn't be apologising to me." His voice was just above a whisper. She could hear the tremble in his voice and reached up to caress his cheek. He put his hand over hers and let out a shaky sigh.
He carefully carried her to the bathroom where he could get a better look at the burn mark he'd given her. Her skin was bright red and the mark was almost in the shape of his hand. There was complete silence between them as he lifted her shirt to apply the burn cream and a cooling patch over it, Mai flinched at the cold sensation.
When they were done he carried her back to their bed and sat on the edge, his back away from her.
"I think I should sleep in the guest room from now on."
"Trunks—" she tried to sit up but the pain prevented her from doing so.
"I don't want to risk hurting you like that again. Please Mai, it's for the best." He turned and kissed her forehead. She didn't want him to leave but she was too tired to argue back. She hugged him then watched him leave.
The following morning Mai got out of bed and went to check on Trunks. When she walked in, he was already dressed and his sword secured on his back. She knew what that meant.
"Going somewhere?" she asked.
"Just out. I need some time to think."
"Okay and when will you be back?" He didn't respond and looked away before walking past her to the living room.
"You're not a monster, Trunks." Her words stopped him in his tracks.
"I'm not so sure anymore."
"You were reliving some of the worst moments of your life, this isn't your fault!"
"And in the process I hurt you!"
"Trunks, I'm fine! It'll heal!" she'd gotten too worked up and moved too quickly. Her hand immediately went to her side but she tried to play it off however, Trunks saw it all.
"You're fine this time but, what if this continues? How can you still feel safe with me?"
"Do you know how many times we've saved each other? Of course I still feel safe with you. What happened last night isn't going to change that. It was a mistake, I know that and you know it too. You'd never hurt me."
"On purpose, never. But by accident I already have and I can't take that chance again."
"I'm not afraid of you, Trunks." she gave him a determined look.
"That makes one of us. I'm terrified of what I might do to you when I'm not in control."
"Please don't go." Her voice was pleading, her eyes filled with tears.
"I need you to be safe Mai. Even if that means safe from me." He finally left and closed the door behind him. Mai was left alone in silence, she fell to her knees and cried.
She went back to their room, showered and got dressed. After having lunch she settled in the living room on the couch. She tried calling Trunks but he wasn't answering his phone. She looked through the pictures of the two of them on her phone and thought back to their argument that morning.
She'd never been afraid of him and even after everything she still had no reason to be. They protected each other on multiple occasions and they loved each other.
Mai thought back to last night and the other nights he'd had his vivid nightmares. He sounded so angry, so hurt. And the guilt that washed over him when he woke up and saw what he'd done, hurt her to see. She hated seeing him in so much pain.
Why won't you let me be there for you?
After a few more minutes in her head, she went back to her contacts list and called another person she knew she could talk to. She pressed dial and waited.
"Hey Bulma, I hope you're not too busy. I really need to talk to you."
"Of course, you can talk to me about anything." Mai felt incredibly comforted by her words. She took a deep breath and told her everything.
"And then he left this morning. I don't even know where he went or when he's coming back." She sighed, the pain carried through.
"He'll come back to you, that I'm absolutely sure of. I think he just needs to come to terms with what happened on his own. Trunks has a hard time letting things go, he tends to dwell on things longer than he should especially, when it comes to the people he cares about. At some point he'll be ready to talk about all of it and when he is, he'll have you. Try to get some rest, okay? You'll need it for when he comes back."
"Thanks, Bulma." She smiled feeling a lot lighter after their conversation. She put down the phone and got comfortable on the couch and closed her eyes.
Bulma put her phone down and sighed.
"I don't like lying to her, Trunks." She looked at her son.
"I know and I'm sorry but she couldn't know that I came here. It would just worry her more." He was sitting on the couch in her office.
"You wanna tell me about these nightmares?" she walked over and sat next to him.
"I don't know why they started up again. Back when the world was still in complete chaos, I only ever had nightmares, but that's not our world anymore. We're safe and things are peaceful. Mai and I have been so happy living together, our lives became normal again but then out of nowhere I'm having nightmares again. And they're always about everything that happened when Goku Black was attacking and in all of them he's hurting or killing Mai and I completely lose my temper. I try to fight but I can't beat him and I can't control my body so I can't stop myself from moving around while I'm asleep. And since Mai sleeps right next to me, she's almost always getting hurt. But then this most recent time I did actually hurt her. I was woken up by her screaming for me to stop and when I woke up she had a burn mark on her right side." he hung his head low and Bulma put her arm around his shoulder "I'd done that to her, she got hurt because of me, mom. And after all that she still trusts me, she still looks at me like she loves me."
"That's because she does, hunny. You two have been through so much struggle and pain together but you had each other. And these nightmares are showing you what you already know, you love Mai with everything you have. Yes you may have hurt her but she doesn't blame you for it and you shouldn't blame yourself either."
"For someone so young you've been through a lot and there are so many times I've wished I could keep you safe and happy with me but then you always remind what a strong, brave young man I raised. No matter what happens you always get back up and do what's right. Mai knows this about you too and she's choosing to stay by your side."
"I'm just… so scared of hurting her again."
"That's always going to be a fear in any relationship. I think most people are afraid of hurting their loved ones. In addition to loving them you also want them to be safe and I think with Saiyan's or even half Saiyan's the risk is higher if you're with someone that isn't a Saiyan. You could split a mountain in half without much effort, you're powerful but, that doesn't make you a monster, Trunks."
Mai's words played in his head as soon as his mother finished speaking. Mai had said the same thing to him.
"You should go back and talk to her, you don't have to handle everything on your own. When you're ready be open with her and also be open to her helping and being there for you. She wouldn't ask so much about you if she didn't want to know." She hugged him "And the next time you two come visit, hopefully it'll be with my grandkids." She teased.
"Mom…" he chuckled and his blushing face.
"Alright, get some rest. I'll see you in the morning." She kissed his temple then left.
That night Trunks lay in bed wide awake. He couldn't fall asleep, all he could do was stare at the ceiling.
At the same time Mai was also having trouble falling asleep. She was too worried about Trunks. If he was coming back, it would be tomorrow.
The next morning he was saying goodbye to his mother before he pressed the capsule that released his time machine.
"Thanks for everything, mom." He hugged her again.
"Anything for my boy. Greet Mai for me."
"I will." He climbed in his time machine and started it up and in a bright flash of light he was gone. A few minutes later he was back in his timeline. He'd landed in an open field then put the time machine back in its capsule before flying back home.
It was after ten a.m. so he knew Mai was already awake. He was standing at the front door and took a deep breath before opening it and walking inside.
"Mai…" he called out and a few seconds later she walking in from their bedroom. She was wearing jeans and an orange Capsule Corp crop jersey. He could clearly see the burn mark.
They looked at each other for the longest time before they ran to each other. Trunks picked her up as she ran into his arms. She wrapped her arms around him and cried into his shoulder.
"You're finally back." She held him tighter. "Don't ever leave me like that."
"Never again." He hugged her just as tightly, his own tears falling. "I'm sorry I left, I'm sorry I hurt you. I'm sorry about all of it." He pulled back so he could look her in the eyes.
They went to the couch, Mai sitting in his lap brushing her hands through his hair. Glad to have him back.
"I went to see my mom and I asked her not to tell you I was there." He started. "She gave me some good advice. I'd gotten so used to keeping my pain to myself that when I started having these nightmares, I was trying to keep you away from it too. And when I'd hurt you," he gently brushed his hand over the mark. "I didn't want to be a burden, I couldn't believe what I'd done so I left thinking it was best. But I didn't even stop to ask how you felt. And while I was gone I couldn't even sleep because I couldn't stop thinking about you and how much I missed you."
"To be honest I was scared, but not scared of you but scared for you. The other nights I managed to wake you up but this most recent time I couldn't. And when you held me down it hurt really badly but more than anything I was scared of what you were going through. It was so bad that your body was moving in response to what was happening in your sleep. I knew I'd heal but, I didn't know if you would and when you left I felt hopeless. Like there was absolutely nothing I could do to help you, all I could do was watch you go through all that."
"Mai," he held her hand and she gave a small smile.
"And then I called your mom and she explained everything to me, that you needed time. So if it meant that you'd come back to me then waiting is how I'd be there for you. Trunks, I'm not going anywhere. I'm sticking with you no matter what, I want to be there for you. I love you."
"I love you too." He leaned in and kissed her and she held him close.
That evening they both decided to make dinner together. They ate and enjoyed their meal, happy to be back together. Trunks offered to do the dishes but Mai stayed in the kitchen to keep him company. She was sitting on the counter as he finished up. He walked over to her and put his arms around her waist and rested his head on her chest. She put her arms around his neck and held him close. They remained comfortably in each other's embrace, Mai had a smile on her lips and her breathing matched his. She loved having him in her arms.
"Now that I think about it, we should have had dessert after dinner." She traced her finger over his lips.
"Oh, don't worry about that." He said as his lips brushed against her neck.
"What do you mean?" she leaned her head back and closed her eyes with a smile.
"Tonight…" he whispered in her ear. "Dessert is on me."
Mai couldn't help the blush on her face as he picked her up and carried her back to the bedroom. By the time they arrived, he was already helping her out of her jersey without breaking their intense kiss, he'd missed her soft lips against his own. He put her on her back and sat over her. Mai's hands went to his shirt and slowly pulled it over his head. Her hands feeling every part of his muscular body. She'd always liked how tightly his shirts clung to him but even more so she liked him shirtless. She loved the feeling of his body over hers and the way his hands travelled all over her.
She sighed as his hands moved up her thighs and his lips moved from her jaw to her neck. He planted kisses all over her neck then went lower. Mai dug her fingers into his hair and bit her lip the lower he went.
When he got to her burn mark, he slowly brushed his fingers over it before gently kissing it. Mai smiled to herself, appreciating the sentiment.
He continued kissing down her stomach then removed her jeans. She sat up and removed his pants as well. She arched her back and moaned as soon as he entered her. Mai crossed her legs around him and grinded, earning a moan from him as well. They started off slow but gradually got faster, moving their hips in sync. Mai's hands went down his back as she moaned his name and he laced their fingers together.
He was glad to be able to hear her, see her, touch her and give every part of himself to the girl he loved. She loved him and he loved her and they knew they could get through anything together.
No matter what.
And there you have it! I wanted to include both pleasure and pain for them, like as much as things have calmed down in their timeline, doesn't mean nothing will happen to them specifically. But they do have each other for that. Hope you enjoyed this oneshot of mine, reviews are appreciated!
Well that's it from me,
Until the next story:
Ketsui Tasogare :-)
