A brutal heatwave is hitting the Culdesac and everyone is blasting their AC to 70 F . Some just want to stay inside their room to cool off rather going outside to get roasted like BBQ . Eddy is just in his bedroom watching Tv , Edd is in his room studying the heat and sun solar activity , Ed is just still sleeping , guess his brain is already cooked before the heat get the chance . The others are just doing the same to just survive the heat .
Without them knowing ,a danger is brewing from the distance and slowly gathering strength . The sudden demand of electricity , the power plant is struggling and overloading the power line , a power outage is imminent but the heat is still the main concern for the groups of friends.
Edd is busy calculating the rate of the increase in temperature, trying to figure out the worst possible situation in the near future . He finishes his research and finds there is a possibility of a wildfire to take place in the forest nearby, he check the thermometer one more time , finding it reduced by 2 degrees, he breaths a sigh of relief as may be the wildfires is just an If scenario. He goes down stair to get a drink and checks for any voicemails his parents may left behind on the phone, he was about to take a sip when the phone suddenly rang. He chokes up a bit as he walks towards the phone to pick it up . He checks the numbers to find it was not his parents but it was the power plant number.
Edd : This is Eddward of the Vincent resident, how can I help you?
Power plant: Is there any adults in your area , we contacted pretty much all the houses in your area and you the only one that picked up the phone.
Edd : I can only speak for myself as my parents are on a business trip and are not at home right now. Did they miss a payment , would you need me to give them a message later ?
Power plant: We didn't contact you for such reasons, we just want you to be ready for a potential blackout as the recent rise in demand for electricity, the power plant will need to make some repairs to keep up with the demands. If you could, please tell the local residents to be prepared as well , the outage will last for a few hours at least and we apologize for any future inconvenience.
Edd : I will and thank you for the notice.
Power plant: Thank you for your cooperation and have a good day .
Edd : Thank you and have a good day .
Edd put the phone away to goes to the window , he checks outside and see nothing but scorching sunlight and hot air just distorting the images of the street. He has to tell them about the imminent power outages , he doesn't want them to be roasted alive in their house so a head up will be much needed .
Edd : I will need some sunscreen and a bottle of water just in case of a heatstroke occurs.
Edd gets his gears on and goes outside for the time since the heatwave hit . The hot air just hit Edd like a rock wall but it didn't stop him from the noble task of warning his friends of the impending suffragette. He can't phone them since the power plant just tried so he has to do it in person instead.
He starts with Nazz and when he rings the doorbell, she only open the peephole to answer just to avoid the heat .
Nazz : Double D ? What are you doing out there ? It's a desert out there dude .
Edd : I thank you Nazz for your concern. I actually have something to tell you regarding our current smelting situation .
Nazz : At least go inside and tell me , I don't want you to die out there .
Nazz was about to get her front door open but Edd politely declined the offer.
Edd : No need Nazz , I need to tell this to everyone as quickly as possible so I just stay out here for a bit .
Nazz : Ok , dude . So what is it that you need to tell me ?
Edd : Yes , the power will be out in a few hours and the power plant will need a few hours to fix the power line so you should take some precautions to keep yourself cool and comfortable when it happens.
Nazz : Ok , thanks Double D , I will do just that . Good luck telling the others .
Edd : Thank you Nazz and have a good day .
Edd leaves and proceeds to warn the rest of the culdesac, even with his sunscreen and water bottle, he is beginning to being cooked. When Eddy hears the news , he immediately thinks of a new scam to take advantage of the situation.
Eddy : I have a foolproof plan to take advantage of our imminent suffering.
Edd : I highly advise to take your time and prepare when the power is out and the AC is not working.
Ed : Ed want some Ice cream to conquer the fire breathing dragon that are burning our town.
Eddy: There isn't any dragon , Lumpy . Now get ready cause we are about to make a scam of the lifetime boys .
Edd is just disappointed at this point at Eddy for not taking the situation seriously . He follows Eddy to his garage to start the planning phase .
Eddy : So , cause the power is about to be out and everyone AC will be out . So we are about to create a small winter wonderland for everyone to chill out and relax in with an hourly fee of course.
Edd: Please don't tell me you want to repeat your summer forever scam again.Even so , you can't do it on a large scale with such a contrasting weather.
Eddy : No need , I will create a small hut for everyone to get in . I will create a winter wonderland, boys .
Eddy stands up with his hands in the air , feeling unstoppable with his foolproof plan.
Ed : We are about become wizards Eddy ?
Eddy : Yeah , Ed and we will get paid well .
Edd just sigh in disappointment while Eddy laugh from excitement.
Edd : And how are we going to do this ? There won't be any electricity so how can we even do this ?
Eddy : That is where you come in . Come on , I have something exciting to show you guys .
Eddy leads the way to his garage where there is an covered object , it's square shaped but outside that Edd can't put a finger on what it is .
Eddy: Behold on one of the best thing I ever found in the junk yard .
Double D and Ed just raise their eyebrow in curiosity when Eddy make the announcement. Eddy pulls the cover off and reveal an backup generator that run on gasoline, an old model before diesel took over the market .
Edd : Eddy , I don't think we should even try to use that generator, I fear its safety features is a bit outdated and may malfunction rather quickly.
Eddy : That is where you come in, Sock head . Help me prepare this thing so we can get on with the plan . Ed will handle the heavy lifting when we begin .
Edd reluctantly agree to help knowing the decision compromised his better judgment. 30 minutes later , they managed to repair the generator . With a bit of fuel and a blender , they test the thing out , it works but it is too noisy so further improvements need to be made . Eddy also got some old air conditioner from the junkyard, they cleaned it and repaired them as well .
Time is running out on the power plant side , their systems are overworked and need of repairs immediately. With some discussion on the board of directors, they shutdown the power in the neighborhood with only infrastructure equipment are kept on . They begin their repairs and upgrades immediately, taking advantage of the weather cooling down a bit . They can't delay it further as the demand will destroy the grid causing a large scale blackout so their hands are forced .
With the power outage now officially hit the culdesac, the kids immediately resort to their backup plans to keep themselves cool and comfortable but all of them only last for an hour so they will need something to keep them comfortable , making them vulnerable for Eddy's scam .
Eddy sees the light goes out and immediately begin his operation , he had Ed set up a large tent near the creek , Edd uses a pipe to get deeper water that is much cooler than the surface in conjunction with the AC to provide the best cooling.. Double D want to separate the generator and the main AC as he doesn't want the fumes from the generator to get into the air filter, but with only little to material to work with , Double D decided to build a barrier with a few planks of wood between the 2 machines, also the generator is consuming fuel at a much faster rate than normal so Eddy ask Double D to just create some sort of pumping device then put all the fuel in one large tank and put them near the generator to make refueling much easier . He put a wooden barrier between the 3 ,even so he isn't feeling the upmost confidence with the set up. With everything set up, he make his way back to the Culdesac to get his "customer " while leaving Double D to look over the equipment . It been working so far but he is still worry , no matter how smart you are , playing with flammable fuel is no joke .
