I looked at Ajax as we crouched in the night. I looked to my left Brandon crouched next to me. Ajax looked through his pair of night vision binoculars.
"What do you see?" I asked in a whisper as I looked away from him and looked straight ahead.
"Three guards with only pipe pistols. We picked a good settlement. These people barely have any defense," Ajax answered.
Ajax handed me the binoculars. I looked through them, I saw the three guards and a campfire. "These binoculars suck," I whispered.
"It's not like it's brand new, these are very old. And the night vision barely works," Ajax replied as I handed the binoculars to Brandon.
I watched as Brandon looked through them. I started to hear a noise from above. I looked up, I could barely see an outline of an object moving above us in the sky.
"Virtibird," Brandon said as he looked up at the object.
"Brotherhood, they occupy the west. We don't have to worry about them, come on let's go get the other three," Ajax said.
I looked at him and nodded.
This is an easy target as long as the Minutemen don't show up.
Five minutes later we had finally made it back to our temporary camp. Jake stood next to the small campfire. He had his Pipe Rifle in his left hand, the stock standing up on the ground. He had metal armor with a red moon painted on it. We all wore the same armor I had a line painted on my chest plate. Jake had two lines painted on his.
Brandon and Ajax didn't have any lines on theirs, meaning they are at the lowest rank. "Three guards with Pipe pistols." I informed Jake.
Jake walked over to Travis who was asleep. He was leaning up against a tree. Travis was the same rank as me with one line painted on his armor.
Jake kicked Travis's leg, waking him up. "Get up! It's time!" Jake hissed.
Travis quickly got up. Jake looked at me and motioned for me to lead the way.
I stopped in a different spot as before. "I'll take out the guards you four make sure nobody shoots a damn flare!" Jake hissed.
I nodded and motioned for the other three to follow me closer. I looked at Travis who nodded at me and got his Pipe pistol out. I get mine out and we wait for the first shots.
I looked at Ajax and Brandon. "You two watch us," I said. Brandon and Ajax nodded.
Once we finally heard Jake shoot and kill the first guard Travis and I ran out with our Pipe Pistols raised and aimed at the wooden homes.
The two guards aimed there guns at us. Before they could squeeze their triggers Jake shot one of them, hitting his head killing him.
Travis and I shot the last guard multiple times in the chest. The man shoots his gun as he died and fell to the ground.
I looked to my right, Travis was choking on blood as he stood next to me. He suddenly fell to the ground. "Ajax get over here, grab his gun!" I shouted. A woman ran out of one of the four homes.
I noticed an flare gun in her hand. I didn't hesitate to shoot the woman. I shot her in the back before she could raise the flare gun and shoot.
Just as Ajax caught up to me and grabbed Travis's gun two elderly men and a woman run out of a house. I shot my gun twice before it was out of rounds. Ajax shot the woman until she fell.
I ejected my clip as Ajax walked over to the dying woman. He ended her suffering by shooting her in the head.
Brandon scurried over to my left. I looked over my shoulder, Jake was crouching and slowly moving closer. He stopped behind a fallen dead tree.
Once I reloaded my pistol I aimed it at the houses. "Come on out slowly!" I barked. Ten people came out of one of the houses.
I started to count the women and men. "Four men and six women. Line up, side by side and get on your knees," I ordered.
I looked at Ajax and motioned him to go inside the house and search. "Put your hands behind your head, you try to run I will kill you!" I shouted.
A women started to cry. Ajax came out with two young children. Both of them were boys. I looked at Brandon and motioned him to get the children.
We don't kill children, we always take them into our group. Sometimes we take settlers in, but most of the time we kill them.
Brandon came back over to me with the sobbing children. "Some of you can come with us, maybe you'll be accepted in. If you're not. . . Well you better hope you're accepted," I tell the lined up hostages.
"I can't promise you that you'll live, but I can promise you that these two kids will have a chance," I continued.
These two kids will fight, only one will live.
I cocked my gun and aimed it at a man's head. The man was at the top of the line. "Please don. . ." Before the man could finish I squeezed the trigger, ending his life.
A woman yelps right after I shot the man. I take a few steps down and aim the gun at a woman. "How old are you?" I asked the woman.
"Twenty-four," the woman answered with a shaky voice.
Each time we raid a settlement we try to keep at least two women of child barring age and a young male of fighting age.
I nodded. "Step away from the others. I am showing you mercy,' I told her.
The woman got up and walked away from the line over to Brandon. Ajax walked over to the other side of the line. I take another couple steps and aim my gun at another woman.
"How old are you?" I asked.
"F. . . Forty-two," she answered.
I squeezed the trigger and the woman fell over, dead.
As soon as we finished, we headed back to our camp. We left Travis's body. We tied two young women's hands behind their backs. We didn't spare any men.
"We need to get back, Xavier will send another group to get supplies. A larger group," Jake said.
I nodded and eject my near empty clip. I loaded my last clip and cocked my gun.
Ten minutes later, I was walking the perimeter of the camp. Started to see red lights.
Shit, those are laser muskets...
I quietly rushed over to the others. "Minuteman!" I told them.
"Shit, how did they find us?" Jake asked.
There is a bright red line of energy that pierced through Brandon's arm causing it to burst. He lets out a scream of pain and falls to the ground holding his stump.
I froze as I watched blood squirt from the wound. I snapped back when Jake started to return fire. I ran to a tree for cover, I took a breath before mover out of cover and aiming. I fire at a man with a laser musket. The man grunts as I shoot his chest.
I looked back, the kids and women were gone. Ajax was hiding behind a tree. He peeked and then aimed and fired.
I saw another man standing near a tree, aiming his gun at Jake who was next to me. I aimed and fired at the man. I missed the man causing him to return fire at me.
Suddenly Jake fell to the ground, blood was forming around his chest. "Ajax! Run!" I shouted. I grabbed Jake's rifle and started to move back.
Ajax started to run towards me, he suddenly stopped at a laser beam pierced through his chest, leaving a large hole.
This is it. I'm dead. At least I no longer have to deal with the cruelty of the leader. No more threats of death from failure.
I dropped the rifle and fell onto my knees. I extended my arms, waiting for death. A large group of men come into view, their guns aimed at me.
I closed my eyes, and took a deep breath. A tall woman stopped a couple feet in front of me. I couldn't get much detail of the woman. Only the outline of her body and rifle.
"Raider scum! I'm going to splatter your head everywhere!" the woman threatened with an intimidating voice. The woman cranks the rifle three times before it begun to glow red.
"Willow, stand down. He's a prisoner, and we don't kill prisoners," a man said. The man walked up to the woman and stopped beside her.
The man, wore a trench coat. I couldn't make out much features of the man but I could tell he had dark skin.
"Preston, they didn't show mercy on those people. Why should we?" Willow asked.
If I were to speak out against my commanding leader or even the group leader I would be executed no questions asked.
"We are not raiders, we are Minuteman. Tie him up, we will take him back to the nearest outpost, at least until I figure out what to do with him," Preston said.
I lowered my arms and allowed Willow to tie my hands together. She pulls me up on my feet. "Try anything I will kill you. Do you understand?" Willow asked, pressing the barrel of the musket against my back.
I could feel the warmth of the charged energy. "Yes," I answered. Preston nodded, the pressure against my back increased forcing me to walk forward.
