All was quiet in the Shirogane household.

Grandfather was off in Tokyo finishing up a recent serial murder case. His sisters were sound asleep in their own rooms, tucked in hours ago. The family dog laid at his feet, staring wearily at him.

He stayed up, scribbling away on a scrap piece of paper. Words that had been on his mind for years bled into the paper. He didn't stop writing until his hand ached and the clock ticked ever closer to midnight. Examining his written thoughts, he smiled ruefully.

Tomorrow, he and his twin sister will finally be heading back home for the first time in ten years.

She will be finishing her last two years of highschool, and he… won't.

He sat in his chair, staring at the paper as if his lone eye would burn a hole into it, only blinking when he felt the dog nudge his leg. He pat the dog's head gently, giving the pup a reassuring smile. Everything will be ok soon.

Looking back at his letter, he sighs, folding it and slipping it into his duffle bag. He sincerely hopes his sisters will forgive him..

His mind is constantly plagued with what happened ten years ago and the medication isn't working anymore. He's losing his fucking mind. He's tired.

5.

Just 5 more days and he won't have to deal with all of this anymore.

He just has to make sure his sister is comfortable in her new life first, then he can be at peace.

He looked out the window and stared at the waning moon.

Something in his chest twisted and he felt a familiar cold sensation in the back of his mind. The sensation wasn't anything foriegen, it happened every time he looked at the moon. Along with the feeling of longing.

Perhaps when it's over, he'll find himself amongst the stars.
