Kagome hesitantly walked into the clinic behind her mother rubbing at her arms. She covered her legs in denim jeans and her torso in a turtle neck. She knew she looked like she was beat up and didn't want the clinician to start asking her if she was raped.

The night before she had felt as if she had fully awakened as a woman, now she was just a little girl hiding behind her mother.

"Can I help you?" The woman asked from behind the desk.

"My daughter needs to be seen."

"Fill out this form please and return it, we'll get you in as soon as we can."

After the papers were signed and consent was given they sat waiting both silent. Kagome fidgeted as her mother stared straight ahead with her jaw set.

"Higurashi." A voice called. Kagome froze and only moved when her mother pulled her up by the arm.

"So, what brings you in today Kagome?" The nurse asked as she took her vitals.

"I um, female problems." She whispered out shyly.

"She had unprotected sex."

"Mom!"

"No need to be embarrassed. How long ago did you have sex?"

"Last night...it was last night."

"Consensual?"

"Yeah it was." She said thinking back on what had transpired. "At first I mean I was surprised that he wanted me for that but once I went along with it..."

"Went along with it?" Her mother gripped her purse tightly. "Kagome he raped you!"

"No he didn't!" She countered.

"He beat you! You're covered in bruises and cuts!"

"He didn't rape me!"

"Mrs. Higurashi, may I speak with you in the hallway?"

They were gone for what felt like an eternity. Kagome watched as her mother sat down.

"Kagome, we're going to give you a physical exam. Your mothers consented that we document your injuries and take samples during an internal exam."

"Samples?"

"Semen samples."

"Oh my god. No." She shook her head. "I bathed, I washed myself. So, there's nothing there."

"Being that you're a minor it's your mothers decision."

"I just need a pill so I don't get pregnant! That's all I want, that's it!"

"We will certainly provide you with emergency contraceptive once we're done our exam."

Kagome hid her hands in her face wondering if the night before was worth all of this embarrassment.
