OPENING SEQUENCE

Wiz: Paramount's Sonic the Hedgehog, the hyperactive action-seeking Blue Devil- uh, Blur.

Boomstick: And Equestria Girls' Rainbow Dash, top jock at Canterlot High and a little bit on the bragging side.

Wiz: Freedom is an intoxicating feeling that makes us feel on top of the world, allowing us to do anything we put our minds to.

Boomstick: And what better way to do that is by super speed, tearing down the road at a million miles an hour like these two hot-footed hotshots. He's Wiz and I'm Boomstick.

Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor, and skills to find out who would win a Death Battle!

FIGHTER 1: MOVIE SONIC

(Sonic the Hedgehog- Sonic the Hedgehog film score)

W: On another world, on a beautiful tropical island filled with sandy beaches, cascading waterfalls, and public access to loop-de-loops, one may be lucky to see the sight of a blue streak speed along the grass. This may be a paradise for some… but to Sonic the Hedgehog, it was home.

B: Our blue buddy's big jump to the big screen wasn't a perfect one. He hadn't even starred in one since the nineties, and he went through a god-awful design phase. But after a little more tweaking, we got the hedgehog we deserved.

W: Sonic was born with an extraordinary power that gave him his trademark super speed. He lived on this island under the care of Longclaw, a protective owl who was the last of her warrior owl race.

B: Wait, Longclaw was a Guardian of Ga'hoole? Why doesn't she have any cool armor or claws, then? Oh, wait. Last of her kind, got it.

W: Knowing that Sonic's power was rare and a gift, Longclaw feared that power-hungry beings would hunt him down, capture him, or worse to uncover the secrets to his power. Thus, she instructed the young hedgehog to never reveal his full capabilities.

B: But a kid will be a kid and break any rule that says no. "No cookies before bed", "no swimming after eating", and "no showing the world you can do awesome stuff or bad people will find you."

W: And find them, they did. A tribe of echidnas attacked Sonic and Longclaw, and the young hedgehog had to use a magic ring to escape to another world while Longclaw gave her life to protect him: Earth.

B: Aw, poor kid. I'd hug him if he wasn't covered in spines.

W: For ten years, Sonic lived near the small, quiet town of Green Hills, Montana, where he enjoyed a life of solitude and tranquility… which he was saddened by.

B: The dude hated being lonely so bad, he accidentally blew up. Not literally, more like blowing out the power that resulted in this wacky guy coming to get him.

W: On the run from the government scientist, or lab rat, depending on what one thinks, Doctor Robotnik, Sonic had to run again to avoid being detected. But due to an accidental encounter and losing his only means of leaving Earth, Sonic teamed up with Green Hills' sheriff, Thomas Wachowski, to get them back.

B: And they had fun on a road trip to San Fran to get that bag of jewelry back. But Robotnik was hot on their trail to get that rodent and end his game. But Sonic learned that there was a power greater than his own: the power of friendship, which he proceeded to beat the crap out of Robotnik with along with his super-speediness.

W: Afterwards, Sonic chose to stay in his new adopted home of Green Hills, discarding Longclaw's beliefs that life on the move was a safe life. The only safe life Sonic now knew was a life surrounded by friends who would protect him.

B: Big screen Sonic has just about the same powers as game screen Sonic, and then some. You have your standard supersonic speed and Spin Dash, along with some wicked cool abilities! Sonic can move fast enough to make afterimages of himself, has an insanely quick pulse, curl up into a ball like a regular hedgehog, and move individual parts of himself at lightning speed. He also ran in a circle so fast he kicked up a sand tornado and he did all of this in just five seconds (shows a clip of his hotel antics).

W: But this incarnation of Sonic has a new trick up his sleeve to add to his speed: he can harness bio-electricity. Sonic can add a little more force to his Spin Dash with this new ability and- when it is charged enough- generate an electromagnetic pulse capable of knocking out the power grid for the entire Pacific Northwest.

B: Talk about shocking. Sonic can also supercharge himself to gain blue eyes and strike hundreds of times in a single second. And with a single blow, he blew apart Robotnik's hovercraft! The energy radiating from a single quill isn't just enough to blow out power to an entire lab, but the power from just one of Sonic's hair is completely off the charts! If that isn't impressive enough, he can speed up his awareness to slow down time! This guy is juiced up.

W: Sonic is also highly durable, as he survived a near-point-blank explosion from one of Robotnik's drones without much injury. He also withstood a fall from the Transamerica Pyramid, the second-tallest skyscraper in San Francisco with a height of 853 feet.

B: Are we sure his rings aren't just protecting him from all that damage? Well, maybe from the fall, but the bomb? He's a lucky hedgehog to get through that.

W: Sonic may be young, impatient, overconfident, and cheeky, but he's no pushover. But when he needs to transition a fight elsewhere, He uses these (takes out a ring): magic rings. Don't let the look of these fool you; these rings aren't just the standard collectible they're known for in the games.

B: Because these rings are (in a dramatic, spooky tone) doorways to other worlds!

W: Sonic uses these rings to travel anywhere he wishes, just as long as he has seen the target destination first. Think of it as a quick-travel option. All he needs to do is think of where the other end of the ring will appear and… (he tosses the ring out and it expands, opening a portal that shows a TV screen with a beer can)

B: (gasps) Mine! (he jumps through the ring, only to fall and crash onto the ground as the ring vanishes)

W: (snickers) However, Sonic has a limited supply of these rings, so he must use them wisely. And if an object is caught when a ring shuts… well, let's just say it'd be like a toad in a storm. Not pretty.

(Another ring opens and Boomstick steps through, surprising Wiz)

W: What the-? Where did you get one of those?

B: Hey, it's not the first time I've fallen for that trick. Plus, you never know when you wake up from a drunken night and not know where the hell you are… again. Anyway, this spiny boy voiced by Ben Schwartz has done some pretty remarkable stuff, like taking out bar brawlers in a way Quicksilver would be proud of, traveling the world on foot, and using frozen missiles to blow up drones.

W: But his most notable feat is pretty astounding, even for the fastest thing alive. He ran from Green Hills to the Pacific Ocean and back in 4 seconds. To reach the West Coast from Montana- which is around 4,000 miles- and return to his original position in that amount of time, Sonic must have been moving at around speeds of over Mach 9, or 6,669 miles per hour.

B: And he did so while he was still under the effects of a tranquilizer dart! And that has to mean he can go even faster at his full potential! If not for his Archie comic counterpart, this could be the quickest Sonic out there.

W: Well, we have determined that in the games, Sonic's max speed exceeds two million miles per hour. Perhaps this Sonic can reach the same velocity as his counterpart.

B: And just like the game Sonic, this Sonic… isn't a strong swimmer. Heh, heh. Fish head.

W: Sonic isn't without his flaws, though. His bio-electric powers are controlled by his emotions, namely determination, angst, and anger. If he loses control of his emotions, he loses control over his powers. And when he slows down time, other objects moving at supersonic speeds- such as Robotnik's hovercraft powered by one of Sonic's quills- will not be affected.

B: Lemme guess. And if he loses all his rings, he's pretty much a goner.

W: Well, maybe. Although his bio-electricity could revive him from near death upon hearing Tom declare Sonic his friend.

B: He may be a hedgehog version of Pikachu, but Sonic now has something he's truly wanted. Friends. And he'll do whatever it takes to keep them with him and protect his home, showing Longclaw that he doesn't need to run anymore.

Sonic: This is my power, and I'm not using it to run away anymore. I'm using it to protect. My. Friends!

FIGHTER 2: HUMAN RAINBOW DASH

(Awesome As I Wanna Be- MLPEG: Rainbow Rocks score)

W: In the world of Equestria, there exists a secret gateway. Hidden away in the palace of Canterlot, a magical mirror allows passage to another world: a world not of ponies and other mythical creatures… but of humans.

B: Well, as long as they're not horses.

W: This "mirror world" is home to Canterlot City, a bustling suburbia with similarities and differences to Equestria. Several people call Canterlot City their home, and among them is Rainbow Dash, a student and top athlete at Canterlot High.

B: Like her pegasus persona, this Rainbow Dash is brash, stubborn, cocky, and completely egotistical. When she's not dozing off in class, she can be found on the soccer field, rocking her heart out, or working at a sporting goods store at the local mall. She's also an expert surfer and skateboarder, pulling off the coolest stunts she can think of.

W: Rainbow's social life is what mostly defines her, as does the rest of the Mane Six's human counterparts. Like any normal high-schooler, she went through falling-outs and reconciliations with her friends. But no one would have a greater effect on her life than Twilight Sparkle.

B: Now I know what you're thinking: the human Twilight or the pony Twilight. The answer: yes.

W: While on a mission to recover her stolen crown from the bully Sunset Shimmer, Princess Twilight discovered Sunset had manipulated her friends- well, the human versions of her friends- against each other, Rainbow included. After getting back together thanks to her, everyone helped Sunset redeem herself and unlock the magic of friendship. And later, she'd help Twilight's nerdy human self go through the same thing.

B: Yeah, yeah. Everyone knows about how friendship and redemption work, Wiz. But what's cooler than plain old friendship? Mystical crystals found underground that can turn into necklaces and give you awesome powers! Or… sort of awesome, depending on who you look at.

W: After obtaining a cyan geode that she wears as a necklace, Rainbow Dash was given the power of super speed… which she sometimes uses carelessly. If she uses her powers too much, she risks overloading her friends' magic exponentially. Additionally, when she harnesses her loyalty magic, she gains both pony ears and wings that allow her to fly in what is known as a "pony-up".

B: As if this wasn't weird enough…

W: Rainbow embraces her geode powers more than anyone and relishes the idea to do good with them, going so far as to call herself a superhero. With these powers, she can bring time to a standstill and leave everything around her frozen. She also has heightened reflexes, allowing her to quickly move specific parts of her body to throw harder or catch incoming objects too fast for the human mind to react to.

B: Her magic is so great, it ended up covering Sunny's face with colorful paint… through a computer screen. How does that even happen? And like her horse self, Rainbow Dash can perform her iconic Sonic Rainboom once she moves fast enough. She was able to create TWO Sonic Rainbooms just by taking off into the sky! So… does that mean she was moving twice the speed of sound or something?

W: Seeing that she can perform a Sonic Rainboom just as her pony counterpart can, we can assume this brings Rainbow's top speed over Mach 10- or 7,600 miles per hour- when she does one. Her magic can also give her a little boost when she's on the losing end of a competition, such as this shred-off with Trixie. In this state, her magic is enhanced greatly enough to create a colored shockwave on landing.

B: It's no wonder she can move that fast with legs like those…

W: Boomstick! She's a teenager!

B: What? I'm just saying-

W: Anyway, Rainbow Dash has boasted to be the greatest- or awesomest, if that even is a word- person she knows, and she's kind of right. She's the captain of every single sports team in Canterlot High, survived having her memories taken away, wielded the Storm King's staff for a short time, traveled through Equestria to return home to Canterlot City, and destroyed the Memory Stone with the help of her friends.

B: Speaking of memories, Rainbow's also a lousy rememberer. She completely forgot to get a Christmas gift for Fluttershy and she's afraid of rollercoasters. Don't- don't tell her I said that, Wiz.

W: Noted.

B: And what's more impressive than all of that stuff is that she hid inside a snowman for two days to prepare for a snowball ambush. Damn, she must have been freezing in there!

W: Freezing? Snow is only 32 degrees Fahrenheit at most. Plus, she was wearing a coat and everything.

B: Oh… that's still cool, though, having to wait that long. And I mean that literally.

W: She may be self-centered and proud of herself, but when it comes to her friends and her home, loyalty always comes first for Rainbow Dash.

Rainbow: Let's take them down! It's not like we haven't tangled with dark magic before and totally whooped its sorry butt!

PRELUDE TO BATTLE

W: Alright, the combatants are set, and we've run the data through all possibilities!

B: It's time for a DEATH BATTLLEEE!

THE FIGHT
The scene opens in Canterlot City. Cars drive across a road with little to no unordinary activity. Suddenly, gold flashes spark above the street. A ring pops open, revealing a lush, tropical island with trees, loops, and waterfalls. A few people pause at the sight…

...and a blue streak blasts out of the ring, followed by spears and nets that hit the road harmlessly The ring shuts off before a masked echidna can jump through, leaving the blue streak to tear down the street.

At Canterlot High, Rainbow Dash is juggling a soccer ball by herself on the field. Eying an open goal, she kicks it in that direction. The ball spins and sails towards the goal… until a spinning blue ball appears to knock it off course.

Rainbow: What the-? Whoa!

Rainbow ducks as the ball flies over her head, landing in the other goal. The blue streak continues to race around the field with the ball, moving too fast for Rainbow to keep track of.

Sonic: He blows past center field, weaves around the opposing team, the crowd is going WILD, ladies and gentlemen! Goalie's going for the intercept, there he goes, and GOOOAAAL!

The streak snatches up the ball and races for the other goal, continuing to comment on the "game". As he races back and forth around the field while running both his legs and his mouth, Rainbow narrows her eyes and swiftly steps right in front of him with outstretched hands.

Rainbow: STOP!

With a screeching sound that is nearly similar to the game sound effect, the blue streak comes to a complete halt in front of Rainbow with flailing arms to keep his balance. He boots the soccer ball and stares up at Rainbow with a look.

Sonic: Psh. Party pooper.

Rainbow, meanwhile, is stunned at Sonic's appearance.

Rainbow: Wh-what the-? Who… what are you?

Sonic: I'm a hedgehog. I feel like that's obvious.

Rainbow: Well, you can't just barge in here and ruin my mood with your little antics.

Sonic: Says who?

Rainbow: Says me! And anyone who has a problem with that can deal with it either the hard way… or the hard way.

Sonic (with an amused chuckle): Oh! Well, in that case…

He zooms on outta there in a blue streak. A block away, remaining in Rainbow's line of sight, Sonic blows a raspberry and runs off. Cracking her fingers, Rainbow takes a stance and runs after the hedgehog in a colorful flash.

Two blue and rainbow streaks speed through the streets, weaving around cars and corners. Rainbow runs up from behind Sonic and shoulder-charges him, knocking him into a roll. Sonic recovers by balling up in a Spin Dash, veering around for Rainbow. Thinking fast, Rainbow gets down and slides underneath the hedgehog.

Both speedsters come to a stop in an intersection and Sonic dashes for Rainbow. He lands fast-and-hard punches and kicks on the athlete, who ducks to avoid a jumping kick. When Sonic goes for her again, she moves her arms quick enough to block each attack Sonic throws out. After countering him, Rainbow grabs a leg and throws him to the street. Rainbow rushes up to land some blows of her own, popping Sonic into the air with a flip kick. She jumps after him, leaving a colorful trail behind her.

At the same time, Sonic balls up and shoots for her in a Homing Attack. He hits Rainbow and brings the two crashing to the road. Through the dust, two streaks of color shoot away from the scene and chase each other through the city. The two blurs veer around beeping cars while Rainbow tries to catch up to Sonic.

Sonic slides underneath a truck while Rainbow jumps over it, leaving a colored arc behind her. The two get neck-and-neck and look each other in the eye.

Sonic: Not bad! For an amateur!

Rainbow: Amateur, huh?!

Rainbow rams Sonic and briefly knocks him off-course. Both speedsters veer away from an oncoming truck and advance on each other again, clashing with bright flashes. Sonic sweeps out Rainbow's legs and makes her fall face-first onto the asphalt. He jumps up and slams down in his ball form, but only hits the pavement as Rainbow rolls out of the way. Just as the hedgehog pops his head out of the ground, Rainbow's sneaker hits his face and sends him tumbling across the street.

Rainbow: You've got speed, sure… but have you got magic?

She grabs her necklace and it shines through her grip, making her transform into her Crystal Guardian form. Pony ears appear on her head and wings sprout from her back. Sonic sees her shoot into the air fast enough to create a Sonic Rainboom that blows him back.

Sonic: Huh?!

Sonic sees Rainbow loop in the sky and fly in his direction.

Sonic: Oh, crud!

Sonic blasts down the street at high speed, zigzagging between cars as Rainbow soars overhead. The girl swoops down to grab him, but Sonic quickly sidesteps to evade. When she pulls back into the sky, she spins around to face Sonic.

Sonic: Flying?! That's so not fair!

Sonic tries to get to Rainbow's level by running up a building and speeding on roofs. He jumps from roof to roof while dodging Rainbow's swoops, bouncing off walls as he does so. He spins and shoots for her, but Rainbow intercepts him by kicking him into the air like a soccer ball.

Sonic: Whoa, whoa, whoa!

Rainbow ascends after him and lands a strong kick with a yell, sending Sonic crashing and tumbling to the ground. The hedgehog stands and shakes his head with a moan. Rainbow slows down and lowers to the ground, a smug expression on her face.

Rainbow: Ready to give up?

Sonic: You'll have to take that up with them.

Rainbow: Them?

Sonic starts running in a circle and constantly changes positions. He is moving so fast he appears as four afterimages around Rainbow, all of them taunting her with silly faces and dances. Rainbow looks around in a frenzy, confused about which Sonic is the real one.

Rainbow: Um… uh…

She chooses to rush for the Sonic on the right, only to be too slow. Sonic zips behind Rainbow, draws back his arm while spinning it at a lightning-quick velocity, and punches her in the back. Rainbow cries out as she rolls across the ground, enough force to make her revert back to normal and lose her wings. She quickly stands back up and runs for Sonic, who rushes to meet her. Both a blue and rainbow streak zoom towards each other… before they collide into each other with locked hands.

Sonic: What's the matter? Too much of a slowpoke?

Rainbow: I'm fast enough to kick your blue butt into next week!

She spins Sonic around and throws him down the road. As before, Sonic tucks into himself and rolls for Rainbow with another Spin Dash. Rainbow only kicks him high into the air with an extended leg. Flailing in the sky, Sonic spins to right himself and land on his feet. Rainbow speeds up to the hedgehog, who gives an unamused expression. Just when Rainbow's fist is about to land in his face, it stops meters before impact.

Everything is now brought to a halt, as Sonic has increased his awareness so much he has slowed time. With a confident smirk, he jogs behind Rainbow, kicks her away, and runs off. But as he leaves, the geode necklace Rainbow is wearing starts to glow…

Rainbow falls to the street with a groan, glancing over her shoulder to see Sonic dashing away. Narrowing her magenta eyes, she takes off in pursuit with a colorful streak. Unaware of her approach, Sonic laughs and turns around so that he is now running backward.

Sonic: If you can't take the speed, get off the-

He sees Rainbow coming for him and his eyes widen in shock.

Sonic: AH!

The hedgehog is too late to evade and is struck by the athlete. Both speedsters continue to race around the city and jump off cars, all while time is still slowed down. Sonic rolls between Rainbow's legs and sweeps them out, giving him a chance to run away. Rainbow is quick to recover, though, and she chases after him.

Sonic: How is this possible? Normally, everything is stopped when I do that! Everything!

Rainbow: You having fun yet, blue?

She tries to tackle him, only for Sonic to drop back and spin into her from behind. As they resume their city-wide chase, complete with blue and rainbow streaks colliding, time resumes to normal. Sonic bounds off a wall and smacks Rainbow Dash with another Spin Dash, following up with several more spinning strikes. Grunting, Rainbow closes a hand around her geode again, swallowing her in a flash of light. Sonic is blown back, landing on his back.

Rainbow Dash shoots into the sky again, now in her Friendship Power form and regaining her wings. At this, Sonic groans and takes off running down the street with Rainbow hot on his tail. While he sidesteps her swoops and slides under a dive, he takes something out of a small pouch.

Sonic: Time to put a ring on it!

He holds out a magic ring and throws it in front of him. The ring expands into view, allowing Sonic to speed through it. Refusing to let him escape, Rainbow flies through the ring…. and finds herself in a desert.

Rainbow: What the-? Where am I?

A blue streak speeds along the sand, making Rainbow snap into focus and fly after it. Sonic races across the desert and, upon seeing Rainbow on his heels, makes a hard turn. He kicks up sand that nearly flies into the airborne girl's face. Rainbow manages to stop in time and flies after Sonic.

Taking a break from flying, Rainbow touches down on the sand and speeds after Sonic, tearing across the desert and clashing against him several times. Sonic lands several quick punches and kicks Rainbow into the air, where she uses her wings to catch herself. As the chase continues across the desert, Sonic calls out to Rainbow.

Sonic: Hey, Colors! Let's see you flap your way out of this!

He runs right underneath Rainbow Dash and speeds around in a circle. His velocity stirs the nearby sand and swirls it around, forming a large sand cyclone that traps Rainbow Dash inside, The girl throws up her arms to shield herself from the sand and struggles to stay airborne from the strong winds. While she's distracted, Sonic races out of there.

Without Sonic to keep the tornado going, the cyclone dies down and leaves Rainbow tumbling. She steadies herself and coughs, shaking her head to get rid of the sand. She smacks the side of her face and pants for breath. A golden flash alerts her to Sonic's presence, and he dashes through.

Rainbow: Come on…

She flies for the ring just as it starts to shrink, diminishing her chances at escape. Determined, Rainbow flies for the ring as fast as she can, tucking in her wings and arms. Unsure of her success, she squeezes her eyes shut…

...and manages to fly through the ring just as it closes. She rolls to a stop before launching into the air again, surveying her new surroundings.

Rainbow: Whoa…

The two speedsters are now on Sonic's home island. The Blue Blur speeds through a loop as Rainbow flies after him, staying on his tail. She arcs around before zeroing in on him like a missile.

Rainbow: Heads up!

She kicks Sonic in the head, knocking him off the path and sending him free-falling towards the ground. Sonic sees water rushing up to meet him, forcing him to think fast.

Sonic: Oh, I never thought I'd have to do this!

He takes out another ring and chucks it down. The ring opens up to reveal a world full of mushrooms, which he falls into. Landing a huge mushroom to use a landing pad, the hedgehog is bounced off the fungi and hits the ground. Rainbow flies into view while the hedgehog stands, readying another ring.

Sonic: Ugh… I hate mushrooms.

He throws his ring at Rainbow just as she dives for him, making her fly through it instead of hitting him. She comes to a halt and looks around again, seeing she is now on the roof of the Transamerican Pyramid.

Rainbow: Oh, come on! Enough of these-

Another ring opens up behind her and Sonic speeds out, ramming Rainbow with a Spin Dash. The two speedsters are sent falling off the edge and Sonic throws another ring. As this one opens up, Rainbow grabs him by the arm and throws him headfirst into the ring.

On the other side, Sonic crashes into the streets of Canterlot City and Rainbow slowly descends. The hedgehog is unmoving in the center of the road, prompting Rainbow to sigh in relief. She turns to walk away.

Rainbow: Finally. That guy was a-

Bursts of electrical energy and blue lightning cut her off. With a frustrated face, she whirls back to Sonic's position.

Rainbow: Oh, for the love of- NOW what?!

Sonic jumps out of the crater, his ball form sparkling with lightning. The hedgehog touches down with a small blue pulse, opening his eyes to reveal sapphire irises instead of jade.

Sonic: Sorry, rainbow lady, but our game's not done yet!

Once more, Sonic and Rainbow Dash take off running through the streets of Canterlot City, crashing against each other. Rainbow's geode flashes brightly, boosting her magic to an overpowered state.

She tries to attack Sonic, but the hedgehog moves too quickly for her to properly land a blow. Sonic bashes her in the chest with a quick Spin Dash before proceeding to bound off the nearby buildings and cars. He strikes Rainbow Dash dozens of times in just a few seconds, leaving her bruised and severely weakened.

Gritting her teeth, Rainbow Dash speeds for Sonic as fast as she can, letting out a Sonic Rainboom as she does. Sonic, several meters away, boosts forward in a blue streak. The two speedsters rush up to each other in streaks of color, with Rainbow drawing back a fist and Sonic balling up.

They collide with an earsplitting bang that completely shatters the sound barrier. The resulting shockwave is both a mix of blue lightning and rainbow colors that shatter glass and knock out power to all of the buildings it comes into contact with. For a short while, dust gathers from the impact…

...until a blue streak shoots out. Sonic comes to a halt in the middle of the road, watching two sneakers plop on the asphalt. Cyan feathers slowly drift down as well. As Sonic watches this, he only makes some "tsk" noises and shakes his head in disappointment.

Sonic: Some people just can't keep up.

He turns and blasts down the street in a blue streak, leaving the shoes and feathers behind.

THE AFTERMATH

(He Is My Friend- Sonic the Hedgehog score)

DB Announcer: KO!

B: Well, that sure got the old adrenaline pumping!

W: Rainbow Dash was able to keep up with Sonic thanks to her geode, but she could only do so so much. Even magic has its limits.

B: Dashie could speed up her arms to catch these flying almonds- of all things- and throw balls hard enough to knock stacks of bottles over, but guess what? Sonic can do that, too! Just check out his game of darts! They could go toe-to-toe when it came to hand-to-hand!

W: In terms of speed, Rainbow could exceed Mach 10 with her Sonic Rainboom, able to create one just on takeoff. But Sonic can outclass her with his Montana-to-Pacific feat. Even though he was traveling at Mach 9, he was still affected by a tranquilizer, which might have limited his max speed at the time.

B: And he is one tough hedgehog, having survived bombs and falls alike. He may not have been able to reach Rainbow in the air, but his quick afterimages and usage of those portal rings really caught her by surprise. And did I forget to mention that the energy readings from a single quill are unlimited? No wonder Robotnik wanted it so badly!

W: And due to their heightened awareness, both of them could slow time to a standstill and move freely, leaving them unaffected by the other's attempts to pause them.

B: And Rainbow may have had her flashy looks and a power boost, but Sonic's kicked-into-overdrive transformation was enough to blow her off the track. He could strike from all the spots at once and move way too fast for her to keep track of him.

W: Plus, Rainbow's real strength comes from her friends, leaving her with not much to go on solo. Even with magic stemming from her loyalty to her friends and the mystical geode that granted her superhuman running speed, she stood little chance against the Fastest Thing Alive.

B: Her days of hedge-hogging the spotlight were done.

W: The winner is Sonic.
