High above the heavens stood a majestic golden temple with spires that practically touched the sky. Its golden glow could be seen from the clouds below and the stars above. At the center of it stood a coliseum that was watched by four giant gold statues of warriors; a swordsman, an archer, a fist fighter, and a kick boxer.

Normally, the skies above the temple were clear and blue, but today, a massive sea of dark clouds hovered over it. An ominous shadow enveloped every inch, further and further, until it blanketed the temple. Soon after, thunder roared and shook the temple, and lightning crackled across the clouds, slithering like snakes ravenous snakes.

This wasn't a usual occurrence at the temple, so an event like this could only mean something of great magnitude was about to begin.

And indeed it was as the lightning bolts, rapidly struck the coliseum. However, as enormous as the bolt were, they did no damage to the coliseum.

From one of the bolts, a bright light shone and as it died down, it silhouetted into the form of a man. When the light completely died down, the man was revealed as a short man with a large button nose, wearing blue overalls, browns shoes, and a big red hat with an 'M' on it; it was none other than Mario.

Others emerged from the bolts to join him.

One was a woman wearing a black leather outfit, a large black hat, and a long black cape; her name was Cybersix.

Another was an elderly man with black goggles and four mechanical arms that resembled tentacles; his name was Doctor Octopus.

One by one, different characters teleported onto the coliseum via the lightning bolts, each of them befuddled as to how or why they were in this strange place.

A young boy of about 10 with black, spiky hair; wearing a large red cap, blur shirt, black jeans, and red sneakers; observed his surroundings. On his left shoulder stood a small, yellow, mouse like creature with red cheeks and a tail shaped like a lightning bolt. This was Ash Ketchum and on his shoulder stood his Pikachu.

"Hey, buddy, any idea what just happened?" Ash asked his pokemon.

Ash's Pikachu shook his head. *Pika*

The young pokemon trainer wasn't alone as he was soon joined by some familiar faces.

"Hey Ash!" a voice cried.

The voice came from a brown skinned boy who was slightly older than Ash with black spiky hair; wearing a light brown jacket, grey pants, and light green shoes. His name was Brock.

Joining him was a black girl with large, dark blue hair with a small dragon popping out of it; Iris; a white girl with red hair and a single ponytail; Misty; and a white girl with brown hair, wearing a light green bandana; May.

Ash was surprised to see his former traveling mates all together. "Woah! What are you guys all doing here?" he asked.

"We're not sure," said May. "One minute, I was in a contest, and the next, I'm here."

"Same with me," said Misty.

As with Ash, Brock observed his surroundings. "It looks like we've been transported to some sort of temple," he said.

"A temple? But how?" Ash asked.

"Your guess is as good as mine," said Brock.

Joining in the conversation was a purple skinned teenage girl with dark blue hair with light purple streaks and wearing glasses. Her name was Twilight Sparkle.

"I'm not the betting kind of person, but if I had to put money on it, I'd say it was some sort of magic that brought us here," Twilight said, adjusting her glasses.

Brock pondered. "Hmmm, well we have encountered stranger things. Magic certainly wouldn't be so farfetched," he said.

"OK, but what I wanna know is who brought us here and why!?" said Iris.

Just then, a large black and white cat, wearing a sailor's outfit, came stomping in, grabbed Ash, and started shaking him. He was Classic Pete. "That's what I wanna know! I can't be here, wherever...here is. I've got a steamboat to run! I'm gonna sue whoever did this! Why I'll sue the pants off of them! And if they don't have pants, I'll buy them some pants and then sue the pants off of them!"

As Classic Pete continued on, he was suddenly tripped by another black and white character, much to his annoyance.

This one was a mouse, known as Classic Mickey, who scurried around the coliseum, his head traveling back and forth, looking around.

Meanwhile, another Mickey, along with Minnie, held each other, concerned about the recent turn of events.

"Gosh, what just happened?" Mickey asked, turning to Minnie.

"I don't know, Mickey, but the better question I have is why is there another you?" she said, pointing to Classic Mickey.

Just then, another bolt struck near the two and another Mickey emerged. This one wore a sort of battle outfit and was carrying a large sword resembling a key. He was King Mickey.

Another bolt struck and yet another Mickey emerged, this one was wearing a red cloak and a blue pointed hate with white stars on it. It was sorcerer Mickey.

Mickey's jaw dropped. It was as if his entire life flashed before his eyes. These were all versions of himself from the past.

All four Mickeys stood in a circle, eyeing each other intently.

"I've heard of seeing doubles, but quadruples?" Minnie said, breaking the fourth wall.

For a few seconds, there was an awkward pause.

"Well I don't know about you, but this feels weird," said Mickey.

Classic Mickey nodded in agreement.

"Honestly, after bringing broomsticks to life, nothing is too weird to me," said Sorcerer Mickey.

King Mickey shrugged. "Well I've fought against dark creatures that are the manifestation of the darkness in people's hearts as well as a group of soulless husks looking to steal said hearts in order to open the door to an alternate dimension, so..." he said.

The other three Mickeys and Minnie stared mouths agape while King Mickey scratched his head awkwardly before turning his attention back to the situation. Like the others, he wasn't sure how they had got here or what they were doing here, nor did he know who brought them here. For the time being, he kept himself wary for any potential trouble.

Just then, a voice called out to him. "Your Majesty!"

King Mickey turned to see a young boy with brown spiky hair, wearing a red and black outfit and large shoes. It was none other than Sora who rushed over to him.

Like many others, Sora was concerned as to where they were as well as where his friends, Riku, Kairi, Donald, and Goofy were.

However, like many others, the king was not sure where they were, nor did he know where Sora's other friends were. It could've been possible that they had been transported with them, but he didn't see any sign of them. For all he knew they could've been back at the Destiny Islands, wondering about them.

In addition to being worried, Sora was also shocked to see the multiple Mickeys standing alongside the king.

"Woah!" Sora exclaimed, falling back.

"Yep, that was my reaction too," said King Mickey.

"But how is this possible?!" Sora asked with shock.

"I don't now, but if I had to guess, I would say whoever brought us here has access to different time periods and dimensions and that's where these guys came from," said King Mickey.

Sora gasped. "Does that mean there could be another Sora?" he pondered, looking around frantically.

The king just smiled and shook his head at Sora.

Strangely enough, the other two Mickey's didn't recognize the young keyblade wielder. He was befuddled by this, considering he had met them all previously on his adventures. He asked King Mickey why this was, but once again, he didn't have the answers. All he could do was surmise the possibility that the other Mickey were from alternate time periods in which Sora never met them.

Just then, a familiar voice called out to the two.

"Sora! Your Majesty!" the voice called.

Sora and the king turned to see a small white duck wearing a dark blue royal outfit running towards them. It was Donald Duck.

"Donald!" Sora and King Mickey exclaimed.

"Donald?!" Mickey and Minnie exclaimed as well.

"So you're here too?!" Sora asked.

"Yes, but I can't find Goofy anywhere!" Donald said.

"Seriously?!" Sora asked, disappointed.

Donald couldn't find any sign of Riku or Kairi anywhere either. So not were Sora and his friends in some weird new place, but most of their friends were gone too.

Suddenly, noticed Mickey Mouse walking up to him.

"Donald, is that you?" Mickey asked.

"Your Majesty? And...Your Majesty, and...Your Majesty...?" Donald pondered.

The royal sorcerer was immensely confused as he stared at the other Mickeys.

Micky noticed Donald's outfit. "What's with the getup?" he chuckled.

This comment set off Donald. "Hey! This is a royal sorcerer's outfit, ya big palooka! I mean, sorry, Your Majesty," Donald said, bowing on one knee.

Feeling the awkwardness of the situation, Mickey motioned for Donald to get up. "Um...that's OK, no need for that," he said.

Minnie walked over and whispered in Mickey's ear. "This Donald seems a lot more mannered than our Donald," she said.

Suddenly, another Donald, wearing a light blue sailor's shirt and cap popped up in front of Mickey and Minnie, "HEY! WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT?!" he shouted.

Mickey and Minnie chuckled awkwardly while Donald stared at his other half.

Meanwhile, an aggravated Classic Pete rose to his feet, stamping and flailing. He glared at Classic Mickey intently, wanting to give him a piece of his mind. But before he could get a word out edgewise, another lightning bolt struck and two people landed on top of him.

One was a white woman with long red hair, the other was a white man with short, light blue hair. Both of them were wearing white outfit with a red 'R' on them. With them was a small cat with a gold charm on its forehead. They were Team Rocket; the woman was Jessie, the man was James, and their Meowth.

"Ugh, did someone get the number on that flight?" Jessie said woozily.

"I think it was 911," said James.

"I'd like a refund on my ticket, please," said Meowth.

"TEAM ROCKET?!" Ash, Brock, Iris, Misty, and May said.

"TWERPS!" Team Rocket retorted before Classic Pete powered all three of them off of him.

"Team Rocket?" Twilight asked.

"They're a group of bad guys who steal people's pokemon," said Misty.

"What?! That's terrible! Um...what's a pokemon?" asked Twilight.

"She'll tell you later!" exclaimed Jessie. "Any clue where we are?"

"Brock says we're in some kind of temple," said Ash.

"Well I know my temple hurts," said Meowth, rubbing his head.

As Brock continued to look around, he suddenly noticed Cybersix and was immediately awestruck. With hearts in his eyes, he rushed over to the confused Cybersix and took her by the hand, standing on one knee.

"Pardon me, fair maiden. I realize you mean be confused and scared, but fret not, for I, your savior, have come to protect you in your time of need!" Brock said before Misty came in and dragged him away by his ear.

"What she needs is for you to give her some space," said Misty.

Cybersix just raised an eyebrow. "OK, that was odd," she said to herself.

Watching Brock being dragged away was a teenage female cat girl named Catra along with her friends; a dirty blonde teenage girl with a ponytail, wearing a red shirt, grey pants, and red shoes, named Adora; a lean teenage girl with purple hair named Glimmer; and a black teenage boy named Bow.

"Well, you have to admire his forward approach," Bow said to Catra.

"No, I don't," said Catra. "You don't approach a girl like that. That's intrusive."

Just then, Catra was approached by Adora who gently elbowed her on the shoulder. "Right, because you were so subtle with me," she teased, causing Catra to blush.

"Shut up!" Catra said, pushing Adora back with a smile.

Just then a dark looking woman with long black hair and wearing a red mask and a red outfit approached the two. She was known as Shadow Weaver. "Perhaps we should turn our attention to important matters such as why or how we ended up here?" she suggested.

"Can't believe I'm saying this, but Shadow Weaver's right," said Glimmer. "I've never seen anywhere in Etheria like this."

"Something tells me this isn't Etheria," said Adora.

Not too far from Adora and friends was a young boy with puffy black hair and wearing a pink jacket and sandals named Steven Universe. Along with him was a black alien woman with a huge black afro named Garnet.

"What or where this place is, is the real question," Garnet said, approaching Adora and friends.

Suddenly, three black and white cartoon characters; a guy with tan pants, Yakko; a guy with a light blue sweater and red cap, Wakko; and a girl with a pink skirt and her ears tied by a flower, Dot; popped out of Garnet's hair.

"Maybe it's Kansas," said Wakko.

"Nah, Kansas is a lot nicer than this," said Yakko.

"Yeah, there are more cows," said Dot.

Adora and company looked at each other, befuddled.

"Kansas?" Adora asked.

"Oh! It's a state in the US," said Steven.

"There are plenty of cows there," Garnet said in a monotone voice.

You guys must be from another planet, so you don't know," said Steven.

"Another dimension, actually," said Bow.

Steven's eyes widened. "Coooooooooool!" he exclaimed.

Suddenly, a pink pony with puffy pink hair appeared next to Steven, repeating his words before enthusiastically shaking his hand. "Hi there, I'm Pinkie Pie!" the pink pony said.

After doing the same with Garnet, Adora and the others, Pinkie began introducing herself to everyone else until she came upon a man with a white face, green hair, red lips and a sinister smile, wearing a purple suit; he was known as the Joker.

Pinkie gasped at his presence. But instead of feeling fear, she was overcome with joy. "Ahhh! A clown!" she exclaimed happily.

Just then, the Joker's smile turned to a scowl. "That's the 'Clown Prince of Crime' to you!" he growled.

"Pfft, you can't be a prince without a crown," Pinkie scoffed before she reached into her hair and pulled out a golden crown.

She then pulled out a mirror so the Joker could see himself. Upon seeing himself, the Joker smiled.

"Hmm, not bad, Horse. I think I'll keep you around," said the Joker.

Pinkie gave a huge smile. "Thanks...wait, 'Clown Prince of...CRIME?!' You're a criminal?!" she said, to which the Joker unabashedly nodded.

"Yes, he is," said a deep voice.

Pinkie and the Joker turned to where the voice was coming from. It was a man dressed in a dark bat costume; none other than the Joker's arch nemesis, Batman.

"Hey, Bats! You're here too? Go figure," said the Joker.

The Dark Knight clenched his fists and snarled before reaching into his utility belt and grabbing his batarang. He lunged his right arm back and prepared to throw it, when a being teleported in front of him by way of lightning.

The being was a man who wore a large hat and a blue and white outfit with white pupiless eyes. He was Raiden, the god of thunder and lightning.

The thunder god held up his hand to Batman. "Wait! I feel that we should hold the conflict for the time being," he said.

Though Batman was still defensive, he slowly lowered his batarang. "Why?" he asked.

"Yeah, why?" the Joker asked, putting an arm around Raiden.

"Yeah, why?" Pinkie asked, hanging upside down from the fourth wall.

After shrugging the Joker's hand off of him, Raiden slowly walked towards the temple. "I recognize this temple. This is a temple of the Elder Gods," he said.

"Ooooooooh...who are the Elder Gods?" asked Pinkie.

Raiden turned to the pink pony with a serious look. "They are the supreme beings and the creators of all the realms," he said.

Pinkie fell head first onto the ground, but immediately recovered. "Does that include Equestria?" she asked.

Raiden nodded. "Yes, I was once an Elder God myself, but I have long since renounced that title in order to protect Earthrealm," he said.

"He gave up god status for that?" the Joker whispered to Pinkie.

"Hmph! I think it was very sweet of him! Also, I think he can hear you," Pinkie said.

"I can. As to why so many of us have been brought here, that I cannot answer, but I believe the answer will come soon enough," said Raiden.

And no sooner had Raiden said that, that a bolt of lightning struck a long staircase that stood at the far end of the coliseum. Everyone turned their attention to the bolt as a figure materialized from it at the top.

As the intensity of the bolt dwindled down, the figure's identity was slowly revealed. He was a tall alien covered in tan fur, wearing a red jewel around his neck.

The alien stood at the top of the staircase, overlooking everyone below him, with a stoic expression. No one knew who he was, but they all listened as he addressed them.

"Welcome, champions all!" the alien announced. "I am the Master of Games and by order of the Elder Gods, you are hereby invited to compete in the Ultimate Smash Tournament!"
