Summary: Shizune is helping the hospital for two weeks as Ino goes on her honeymoon. Tenten is brought in as her temp replacement.

Kakashi looked up at the smiling kunoichi before him. Inwardly he celebrates as the next two weeks will allow him to slack off while Shizune is away. He returns her smile and gestures for her to have a seat at the desk by the door. Her temporary work station. She doesn't move, but instead motions to the large pile of scrolls and paperwork on his desk.

"Hokage-sama..."

"Please drop the sama."

"Hatake-sama.."

"Just Kakashi."

"The Sixth..."

"..."

"Shizune-chan specifically told me to make sure that the pile on your desk be taken care of today. She said we can't leave until all of them are signed and filed away." Tenten held her smile as she waited for a reply.

Shizune had instructed her over and over that under no circumstances could she leave Kakashi alone until the pile of paperwork be taken care of. He had a habit of poofing away sometimes to avoid the work. Very unbecoming in the words of the special assistant.

Shizune had threaten to only give her D rank missions if she didn't take the job seriously. Tenten had miserably cried inside when faced with such a threat. How would she afford new weapons if she only earned a few ryo from the D rank missions. So with the bleak prospects, Tenten harden her resolve and vowed to do a good job babysitting (she meant assisting) the Hokage.

"Shizune-chan must have made a mistake. This is weeks, no months, worth of work. Let me go look for her and straighten this out." Kakashi stood up and made a move towards the door, but found that his path was blocked.

"No mistake, she made me a schedule. See here." Tenten took out an extra long scroll with hour by hour schedule for the Hokage to follow while Tenten was there.

Meetings, breaks, lunch, public appearances, dinner, paper signing, filing...everything was detailed to the very minute. Kakashi was flabbergasted at the length his assistant would go to just to keep him on track. His dream of resting vanished as quickly as it formed. He was ready to bang his head on his desk. Tenten sensing his fighting spirit leaving, quickly interrupted before any damage could be done.

"Look, we only have to work three hours before you get a break. Let's open the first scroll and get started." She unravel the scroll for him and held a pen out. Silent tears streamed down his face.

"Tenten-chan, I'm stuck in a nightmare, aren't I?" He whined. She only rolled her eyes as his melodramatic ways.

"Listen, I was going to save this for dire times, but I think it'll help you now." She took out one of her summoning scroll and pulled out a large stack of bound papers. Holding it up so he could see what the first page said. His eyes widen considerably as he read the title.

"WHERE DID YOU GET THAT?!"

"I borrowed it from Naruto." A big sly smile graced her face. In her hands were the manuscript to the last Icha Icha Paradise book ever.

"Naruto was safekeeping it and Hinata graciously loaned it to me when I told her about my assignment here." At this point, Kakashi was trying to swipe it from her hands, but sadly, Tenten threw it back into her scroll.

"Now now Hokage-sama. I'll make a deal with you. You'll get a chapter every day after you finish all your work. What do you say?"

"You're the worst."

"No deal, then? I guess I'll just take my time reading it and return it next year..."

"Wait...fine...we'll do it your way..."

Tenten smiled, satisfied with his cooperation. She held out the pen to him again. Reluctantly he took it from her and started on the scroll she spread out before him. Seeing him work diligently, she went back to her desk to start filing the paperwork Shizune left her.

"Tenten-Chan..."

"Yes, Hokage-sama?"

"Can you get me some tea?"

"Sure."

She walked over to the side of the room where the tea cart stood. It took her a minute to sort through everything before prepping his cup. She wordlessly place it on the desk before turning back. As she reached out for the stacks of paper...

"Tenten-Chan..."

"Yes, Hokage-sama?"

"My pen is out of ink."

"Ok, I'll get you another one."

She took a pen off her desk and brought it to him. Again, wordlessly.

"Tenten-Chan..."

"Yes, Hokage-sama...?" She felt her blood pressure rising.

"Did Shizune leave any of the pastries I like?"

"I'll check."

She rummaged around the cupboard above the tea cart. There laid a solitary package of cookies. She held it up to show him.

"Not it...I think my sugar level is dropping..."

"Have a cookie first. I'll ask Shizune later during my lunch break."

"Ok, thanks, Tenten-Chan!"

She passed him a cookie, but instead of taking it, he bit a piece off. Her eyes widen at his action. He only crinkled his eye in satisfaction before taking another bite. As if reading her mind, he waved his hands at the scrolls in front of him, implying his inability to take the cookie.

'What the...I did not sign up to be his personal maid! Who does he think he is? Wait, he's the Hokage...ok it's fine, it's fine. Not a big deal.'

Tenten smiled back at him then started towards her desk AGAIN.

"Tenten-Chan..."

She paused, taking a moment before turning back to him with a fake smile.

"Yes, Hokage-sama?"

"I look forward to working with you. I'll be in your care. Thank you."

She could only smile and bow in response. Too afraid of committing word vomit. Better to be silent. Finally, she got her hands on the paperwork. Moving to the side, she proceeded to start the filing.

"Tenten-Chan..."

Her hand almost dropped the file.

"Yes, Hokage-sama..."

"Is it warm in here? Can you open the window? Thank you."

She did as he asked then stood next to his desk.

"Is there anything?"

"No, it's very comfortable now."

There's the eye crinkles again. She had a sneaking suspicion that he's extracting this petty revenge because of their deal.

"I'll get back to the filing."

He waved her away.

2 hours later...

"Tenten-Chan..."

Her eyelid twitched. In the past two hours, he has called her a total of 28 times. She couldn't believe he had a different reason every SINGLE time.

"Yes, Hokage-sama..."

"Is it time for a break yet? My hand aches."

He gave her a pitiful look...or at least as much as he can convey with a pair of eyes. She looked at his pile of scrolls. He signed two thirds of them already. She was amazed.

"I guess a five minute break would be ok..."

"Yay!"

He threw the pen down and jumped up, getting ready for a mad dash out the door. His momentum came to a spiraling halt before he made it across the threshold. With a sinking feeling, he looked down at the petite kunoichi holding onto his robe.

"Hokage-sama...where are you going?"

"Bathroom."

"You went 15 minutes ago."

"Cafeteria."

"They're closed."

"Interrogation."

"None scheduled."

"Shikamaru."

"At 2 o'clock."

"Tenten-channnn..."

"Two minutes left."

"You're the worst."

"I've been told."

He sulked back to his desk, throwing her another look. Not one to back down, she smiled brightly back.

'Two can play this game...I can last two weeks. It's just two weeks. I've had longer missions than this. Don't cave Tenten. You can do it. You've survived Gai-Sensei and Lee shenanigans for years. You're a strong, independent wo-'

"Tenten-Chan..."

'I'M GONNA MURDER HIM'

"Yes, Hokage-sama..."

"Can I have some more tea, please?"

"Of course."

wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Tenten breathed a sigh of relief. The day was finally coming to an end. She had to remind herself several times throughout the day that this was only temporary. She wondered if this is what Shizune dealt with on a daily basis and if it was, then kudos to her. Tenten didn't think she or the Hokage would make it out alive if this was her permanent job. Sooner, rather than later, a kunai or a senbon would be flying through the air courtesy of the weapon mistress.

"Here you go, Hokage-sama."

She handed him the first chapter of the book.

"AH, you're the best! Thank you for today, see you tomorrow!"

With that he disappeared in a cloud of smoke. She only rolled her eyes and finished up the filing.

'Now, to prepare for tomorrow...'

Kakashi, momentarily lost for words, studied the things on his desk.

'Smarter than I thought'

Tea and pasties were already present and waiting for him. A new pen holder stocked with at least a dozen pens placed within reaching distance. Window opened, letting the breeze in. Even the shades were drawn just low enough to cover the morning sun from shining directly on him.

"Good morning, Hokage-sama!"

"Good morning, Tenten-Chan..."

'Don't look so smug, little girl. You even got me a cushion for my chair. Are you declaring war?'

"Please let me know if you need anything else. This pile here needs signing first. This pile can wait till after lunch."

"Understood, thank you."

"You're welcome!"

He watched as she walked back to her seat and sipped her tea. His eyes narrow then he picked up the first scroll. Unrolling it, he caught sight of a little neon sticker that indicated where he should sign. He took another scroll and saw another sticker. One more to be sure.

'She IS declaring war! Making my job easier so I can't bother her. How unfair!'

He looked up at her and saw a sly smile grace her lips.

'GAME ON!'

A/N: This idea came to me before Another Day but I didn't have a direction for it at the time. The second half of this chapter went differently than what I had originally planned, but it seems to work. I'm only planning for this to be about 3 chapters. Hope you enjoy!
