Standing in front of a mirror, Jeanne brushed out her long, wavy silver hair. In a black dress with a corset belt, she was ready for a wedding. Her bags were packed. All she needed was Lyserg to pick her up.

Lyserg Diethel was her adoptive brother. Jeanne never knew her father and her mother died when she was ten. The Diethels took her in and treated her well. Lyserg formed a band called X-Laws after he graduated college. Jeanne joined the group as the lead singer. They found moderate success with several songs featured in movie soundtracks. While they had a decent fanbase, they were far from hitting a stardom.

Finally, her phone rang. It was Lyserg, waiting in his car.

Taking her bags, she headed out and hopped into his car.

"Thanks for coming with me," Lyserg said as he drove.

"I know it's hard, but Yoh is your friend," Jeanne said.

"He and Anna were engaged back in grade school."

Jeanne met Yoh only a couple of times. He was a nice guy, yet Anna was another story. She was cold and lacked sympathy to put it nicely.

"What does Yoh see in Anna anyway?" Jeanne wondered out loud.

"Anna is gifted, she can see your future," Lyserg told her. "Don't forget, you are the Iron Maiden."

Unlike most girls of her age, Jeanne would rather wait until she met Mr. Right to give up her virginity. At age 24, she still hadn't met her Mr. Right. When Lyserg jokingly called her an "old maiden", she retorted that she's the "Iron Maiden."

And that nickname stuck.

Jeanne was attractive, with her beautiful silver hair, small waist, and charisma. Men do turn their heads upon seeing her, but only get their hearts broken.

She was an "Iron Maiden" indeed.

The two rode in silence until Lyserg pulled up in front of a hotel.

"Jeanne, I really appreciate it that you are coming with me," he said as he parked. "Maybe you'll meet the man of your dreams too."

"Not going to happen," Jeanne said. "I am not making the same mistake my mom made, my real mother I mean. Maybe being single is safer." She paused and added, "You know, we can make a pack. How about if we were still single by the time we are forty, we settle for each other?"

"Nah, I wouldn't go for you even if I were straight."

"What?" Jeanne was offended.

"See, that's your problem," Lyserg pointed out. "You like to be wanted, you like the attention, but when it comes for you to give a piece of your heart, it's not happening. Relationship is about two people, it is never a one-way street."

He was talking but then started to break down. Jeanne hugged him as he cried against her shoulder. His love for Yoh had always been a one-way street. The man of his dreams was marrying someone else. He knew Yoh only loved Anna. But the heart wants what it wants.

"Hey, Lyserg, we don't have to go," Jeanne suggested. "You can just tell Yoh that you got sick. I mean, look at you."

"No," he grabbed a tissue and wiped his face. "I'm fine. I want to be there. We'll have a good time, Iron Maiden."

There were a lot of guests at the wedding since Yoh had many friends. Anna's dress was beautiful. Jeanne raised an eyebrow after seeing how she walked down the aisle.

"I think she got a bun in the oven," she whispered.

"What?" Lyserg asked.

"Nothing," Jeanne replied.

All guests applauded after Anna and Yoh exchanged their marital vows. Looking at Anna's dress, Jeanne thought maybe one day she'd be wearing one too. She wouldn't have a big wedding; it'd probably be just herself and her groom. She thought about her real mother who never donned a wedding dress.

I'll be waiting for you in Heaven.

That was the note her mother had left her before she passed away.

At the wedding party, Yoh was happy to see Lyserg. As the two hugged and chatted, Jeanne sat with Anna. Unlike Yoh, Anna barely spoke or even made eye contact.

If Jeanne were the Iron Maiden, then Anna would be the Ice Maiden.

Or now, the Ice Matron.

"When is it going to be your turn?" Anna suddenly asked.

"My turn for what?" Jeanne played dumb.

"You know what I mean."

"I like to be single."

"Enjoy it then, you are not going to stay single for long."

Anna is gifted, Lyserg had told her . She could see your future.

Jeanne didn't want to continue this conversation further. She saw Lyserg and his old friends hanging out at the bar, gulping down one drink after another. Looked like she was going to be his designated driver tonight.

Lyserg was completely wasted. Jeanne made sure that he got into the passenger's seat and drove them back to the hotel. A couple of times, Lyserg rolled down the window and vomited. Jeanne kept her eyes on the road.

After they got back to the hotel, she literally carried Lyserg back to his room and then headed to hers.

The key card didn't work, but luckily the door wasn't closed all the way in. She entered the room and sat on the bed.

The bathroom door opened, and a young man walked out, au neutral. He had long black hair with three spikes on top. His body was lean. His eyes were golden.

And he looked pissed.

"Uh...is this room 303?" Jeanne asked slowly, blushing heavily.

"No, it's 333."

"I think I'm in the wrong room," Jeanne quickly got up and tried to look away. "Let's just pretend this never happened."

Just as she opened the door, he came behind her and pushed the door shut.

"What are you doing?" Jeanne asked, trying to stay calm.

"You saw me in my neutral form, it's only fair that you show me yours."
