Authors Note: Short, yes; but this is just the prologue. It's just to get you guys juiced up for what's to come. The remaining chapters will be longer.

We begin the story within the province of Faucet City, inside a small, well furnished apartment, where a lone being stood motionless and seemingly unassuming while speaking into the air.
"Look pal, I know you're there..." this individual was a male with a mane of gravity defying, sunny blond, spiky hair, a pair of cerulean blue eyes, a trio of thin lines on each of his cheeks that looks like drawn on whiskers, and a lean, muscular build that was garbed in a pair of orange pants, a pair of orange and blue sneakers, a sleeveless, orange hoodie, a short sleeve blue shirt, a black headband that kept the bangs of his spiky hair from falling over his eyes, and finally, a pair of blue wristbands that had a single yellow stripe. "So why don't you do the two of us a favor and step into the light? Saves us the trouble of any hassle."
Unfortunately for the blond, silence was his answer.
"Suit yourself." and with a flick of his wrist, a Sai fell out of his sleeves before it was, at bullet speeds, launched at a corner above and behind him and after hearing the distinctive sound of metal hitting metal, he turned around, placed both his hands in his pockets, and watched as a very familiar figure dropped out of the shadows in a one kneed crouch. "Batman… well I guess I shouldn't be surprised… considering the scenery of my last mission."
The Batman stared unflinchingly at the blond.
"Naruto 'Nathaniel' Uzumaki aka Ravager: known singular student of Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke…" and as he spoke, the Caped Crusader and a half of the Dynamic Duo of Gotham walked up to his person of interest. "…wanted for multiple high profile cases of burglary, assault, grand theft auto, and at least one known case of murder; that's a pretty hefty ledger for someone your age."
"So you did your homework; big whoop." and as for the individual now identified as 'Naruto Uzumaki'? Well, he scoffed because - despite the intimidating aura Batman was giving off - it was clear to any watching that the young blond was far from afraid of the Caped Crusader. "It's gonna take a lot more than that to impress me."
If he was impressed by the blond standing his ground, the ever stoic Batman didn't show it.
"So bats, why're you here?" Naruto continued. "'Cause I'm pretty sure it's not for a simple meet and greet."
"There are a lot of people who are after you for your crimes," the Batman replied. "Including, but not limited to, the various state and government officials of the various locations you've happened to rob in the past."
"And what," Naruto raised an eyebrow. "You'll give what you have on me to them if I don't cooperate? Please bats. I wasn't born yesterday. We both know that's a bluff." he eyed the bat and paused. "Then again," he continued. "Let's say that happens… if you go through with that, what's stopping me from selling every info I have on the Justice League to the underbelly of the criminal empire? I'll bet a lot of people'll pay big bucks for that kind of dirt."
Batman's eyes narrowed.
"That kind of information is highly classified." he, the bat, stated. "Even for someone with your advanced skills. The-"
"B. A." Naruto cut in, causing his uninvited guest to stop in shock. "C. K. J. J. H. J. B. B. C. H. Z. Z. B. W." and, rather smugly, he eyed the obviously shocked bat. "Need I go on? Or do I need to spell out the initials of your sidekicks too?"
The blond could've easily countered Batman as he charged at him and flung him to the ground, hard (for anyone who wasn't him) but he let Gotham's Caped Crusader think he had the upper hand… at least, for now.
"Tell me!" the Dark Knight, meanwhile, demanded. "Tell me: how did you get those names?!"
"You think someone like me isn't going to scope his potential targets?" Naruto raised an eyebrow. "Really, Bats? For shame. And here I thought you knew better seeing as you're hailed as the 'World's Greatest Detective'."
Batman took a deep breath before getting off the blond and stepping back.
"Good man." Naruto nodded, dusting himself. "Now tell me B-man - and I mean it in both ways - why're you here?" he ignored the growl Batman let out when the 'B-man' part escaped his lips. "If it's to arrest me, then sorry bud. You're barking up the wrong tree."
Batman remained silent for a while.
"The Justice League is forming a shadow group, one that will be made up of various young partners." he, the Dark Knight, stated, finally deciding to not beat around the bush. "And, considering your talent and abilities, it has been suggested that I should recruit you to be part of this project because the missions they'd be focused on would be covert, something your expertise could be useful for."
"And why should I even consider your offer?" Naruto asked. "You of all people should know my history."
"And it is because of that I chose to bring you in." Batman replied. "Although you may have committed all those crimes, you never did it to anyone who didn't deserve it. And a friend of mine has been keeping tabs on you and the good you've been doing since you moved to Faucet City."
"It's the Man-Child, isn't it?" Naruto stated, and Batman frowned. "You look surprised. Of course I'd notice 'Captain Man-Child' tailing me. Aside from the fact that he's very bad at what he thinks 'Stealth' is, his energy signature is very hard to miss." he glanced at his open window. "Hear hear that kid? Might as well come in. I know you're out there."
And after a while, faster than most could track, except for the two in the room, a red and gold, lightning filled blur flew into the window before it stopped in front of Batman and Naruto to reveal the figure of none other than the sheepish looking form of Faucet City's hero: Captain Marvel floating in the air.
"Sorry bats…" he, the Champion of the Gods, stated. "He got us."
"Except he didn't have to." Batman shot back, staring at the new arrival. "You could've gone home, or not fly in when he asked you to."
"Give the Kid a break Bat's, I'm sure you've been stuck in a rock and a hard place before." Naruto stated. "Now then, back to business: this team you want me to join… like I said, why should I even consider the option when I've obviously got better things to do?"
"50 grand a month sent to your account for each month you stay on the team." Batman offered. "And 100 for each successfully completed mission."
"150g's a month, huh?" Naruto mused, scratching his cheek. "Not a bad start, but it's too small for my taste. Make it 400 and we have ourselves a deal."
"Ooo," Captain Marvel winced. "That's a bit pricey."
Batman remained silent.
"300," he finally countered. "And that's my final offer."
"350." Naruto, however, returned in kind. "150 a month, and 200 for each successful offer."
"Deal." Batman turned around and started to walk towards the window. "I'll send more details to your Email. Make sure you don't miss it."
"Just out of curiosity," however, he, and Captain Marvel, paused at Naruto's words. "What were you gonna do if I didn't accept your offer? Use Captain Man-Child over here as back up to take me out, lock me up and throw away the keys?" The Caped Crusader remained silent and Captain Marvel snorted. "You don't need to say anything Bat's, Man-Child pretty much confirmed it for me. Later."
And shortly after the two left, Naruto walked up to the open window and shut it.
'Whelp,' he turned around. 'Looks like things are about to get a bit more interesting around here.'
And with that, he left his living room and headed to the kitchen because he sure as hell was hungry for some Ramen.

Author's Note: This version of Naruto is a trained Mercenary who went under the alias Ravager and, as you've guessed it, thanks to the assassins teachings, the blond Uzumaki is an expert hand-to-hand fighter, a proficient weapons master, multilingual, a tech expert and has many other disciplines under his belt. Being the student of Deathstroke demands this. And as for powers? Yes Naruto has powers which he inherited from his Parents (who I'll keep a secret for now, well, I'll keep the other half to myself because Kushina is one) and the Serum that gave Slade his powers so in short, he's indeed a power house. Interested in finding out what they are? Well, read to find out. Also, Naruto was in full control of the conversation between himself and Batman so that, along with the fact that he was strong and capable enough to take on the Bat, meant that he was not scared as some others might be if they were in his situation. Billy being there won't change his fortunes because he knows how to take down the mighty mortal.
