Prologue

Laying on the bed of the hospital. Takeshi Ren slowly opened his eyes. He knew he was gonna die soon because he got inflicted with COVID-19. He was gonna be 21 soon and die young. He did have quite a few regrets but in the end, he was quite disappointed that he isn't gonna be able to see the end of Re:zero. It was one of his favourite novels and I liked it a lot because the protagonist was human and you could relate with him a lot.

Ren's mum was from Japan but one of his parents was from he did serve in the military and has experience fighting and wanted to be a doctor so he studied hard and got into the university he wanted. Most of the time he was called a genius but it was just that people didn't see how much effort he was putting into his work and put effort into everything.

Although his parents died at a young age in a fire, they always loved him so he wanted to make them reason he put everything into studying is to make his parents proud but slowly started realising that he was isolating himself from other people because he was too focused on studying. Eventually people around his age avoided him and he just felt isolated. He liked to read as his hobby so for a change he decided to read manga or light novels that everyone around his age used to read in his high school. He picked up Re:zero by coincidence in a store and fell in love with and enjoyed it a lot.

Ren:"So this how I die it's kind of depressing that no one is visiting me even though I'm gonna die soon but it's too bad I'll never see the end of Re:zero.

God dammit I should have not isolated myself and made more friends. I don't think mum and dad are gonna be happy seeing that I didn't make any friends. I'm pretty sure all parents want their kids to have friends." said Ren in a depressed voice and was thinking of all of his regrets.

Ren's heart speed started to slow down because his death was near. Ren:"I'm going to meet you soon mum and dad. I hope you're not disappointed. Ren said weakly, that was the last thing he said before he died .

The heart rate monitor stopped beating and all the nurses and doctors rushed in and checked on him and they confirmed he was dead. Doctor:"It was unfortunate that someone as young as him died when he had so much potential it was truly unfortunate. "said the doctor in a sad voice.

Slowly Ren started to open his eyes but realised he was in a void he couldn't move or feel anything and was confused about what was going "Is this my punishment did I do something bad in my life well it's quite and peaceful"said he just realised he didn't have a mouth.

Ren:"I wonder if I have a body in this place I probably don't because I can't feel anything but then how am I thinking if I don't have a brain. Does that mean souls really do exist? "said Ren in a confused tone but curious at the same time.

Three months have passed in the void but Ren didn't know that because his sense of time had warped her and most of the time he just went to sleep. But today was different for some reason he could feel his body again and all of its features were back. It didn't come back in an instant but they were slowly coming back from the start. It's just he didn't realise them because he was asleep for most of the time.

Ren realised that there is no point in waking up because he can't control his body and move it so he decided to go back to three months had passed and Ren started to hear voices he didn't know where but he was trying to focus on it and listen.

?:"How is the baby coming along? Is it healthy? I'm sure it will be a beautiful boy and what are you gonna name him." said the woman in an interesting tone.0

?:"I don't know what to name him for now but I think I want to give him the name of a start to represent hope" said the woman in a caring tone while rubbing her stomach softly.

Ren couldn't pick up everything because his hearing hasn't devolved that far but he heard a few :"I wonder what they meant by star and hope I also heard beautiful. What are they talking about and from the tone of their voices the person who was speaking was a woman and it seemed like there were two different voices, maybe their close friends." Ren thought and was very confused.

Ren:"Does the place where I am have anything to do with stars or hope but how can a place be related to a star or hope?" Ren questioned.

He had no idea what was going on and didn't get anything from those words so he just put them in the back of his head. He did often wake up now that he can hear the voices outside and could feel something so he just quicked and realised that he could move his body a little bit more. Just like that another three months went by but this time he often woke up and tried to control his body because he was getting bored so he thought he should at least use his time wisely.

Suddenly waking up Ren felt a pull and did not know what was going on but let himself to be pulled out because he did not want to be stuck in this place any longer. His eyes were quickly blinded because he was used to the void and the dark space so he closed his eyes.

Slowly he started to open his eyes and could see three people. There were two people who were wearing the outfits of a nurse and a woman who was lying on the bed looking tired and in pain but had a smile but that smile quickly changed into a panicked face.

?"Is there something wrong with my child? Why is he not crying? Is there anything wrong?" said the woman questioning with a pale face and looked desperately worried.

One of the nurses quickly slapped the butt of Ren and he started crying.

Nurse:"There is nothing wrong with your baby please calm down Miss Naoko."said the nurse trying to comfort her.

When Naoko heard the news she immediately calmed down and breathed a sigh of relief. She looked like she almost had a panic attack and was gonna cry and second.

The nurse slowly handed the boy to the mother and let them have their moment together.

Ren:"Did they say baby? Now that I think about it my body is small, don't tell me I was reincarnated and was in the womb the whole the woman who is supposed to be my mother is named Naoko and she kind of looks familiar like I've seen her somewhere. Maybe it's just my imagination."Ren thought.

Naoko:" Hmmm… What shall I name you?Oh maybe Subaru, that sounds nice, it's the name of a beautiful star. It fits well doesn't it Natsuki Subaru that's your new name.A name filled with hope is quite a beautiful name." Naoko said in a caring tone like she didn't want to hurt the baby.

Ren:"So my new name is Natsuki Subaru. it's a nice name… wait her name is Naoko and my name is Subaru she just said Natsuki right it wasn't my imagination don't tell me I reincarnated as NATSUKI SUBARU" Ren thought internally, screaming in his head.

The door was quickly opened and a man who looked really worried came in and checked on Naoko and Ren. Ren immediately recognised him as Kenichi, Natsuki Subaru's father.

Kenichi:"Is everything ok Naoko, are there any problems, do you want me to do anything? I can go get water for you or anything now I can do anything if you need me." Kenichi said in an anxious voice.

Naoko laughed when she saw Kenichi's reaction and knew that her precious baby and father would get along in an instant.

Naoko"No you don't have to worry about anything, look how calm he is right now. Do you want to hold him?" Naoko asked.

Kenichi nodded his head and Naoko slowly handed Ren to him. They were moving him so carefully like he's glass and can break any second.

Meanwhile Ren was having lots of thoughts going on inside his head.

Ren"Did I kill Subaru to takes this body does that mean I'm a that might not be fully true if I'm in the Re:zero world there definitely are souls and when Louis possessed Subaru there were two people in once that mean Subaru is still here? The reason he might not be trying to take over is because he doesn't have a lot of mental awareness and is a baby right now so if he grows older he might try to take control over his body is his so I don't have a problem with that. I'm just thinking this because I don't want to say that I killed Subaru. I'm hoping that this theory is right." Ren hoped that his theory was right.

Kenichi:"He really is quiet. I expected him to cry some it normal for a baby to be this quite" Kenichi asked confusedly.

Ren:"Shit I don't want to make them suspicious. What should I do? Should I try crying like a normal baby?Oh I know what to do." Ren thought coming up with a new plan

Ren started laughing and acting cute. It's obvious parents love seeing their baby being cute and they would focus on that. The perfect distraction available right now and makes him look like a normal baby.

Kenichi:"He is so cute. Ah! I forgot to ask you what you named him." Kenichi asked.

Naoko:"I decided to name him Subaru the star for a sense of hope it can also be translated to Pleiades." Naoko said.

They spent more time doting on him and he went along with all of it and just acted like a baby. After they put him down and tried to put him to sleep he closed his eyes to think about what he was gonna do next.

Ren:"I wonder if I have my own affinity and I wonder if I can try to learn to control my gate. Subaru's gate was shit if I trained, maybe it would be a bit better. I don't want it to happen but if I actually did kill Subaru and now take his place then I need to train before I get teleported to Lugunica. The only thing I know is that he got teleported when he was 17. I guess I have 17 years to train for so what can I do now. I don't want to waste a single minute because the other world is hell and I need to prepare for it ." Ren thought.

In the end Ren came up with a list of things to do so he can get stronger and prepare.

Ren:" Subaru doesn't have any talent with magic but does that apply to me since we have two different souls. Although he does have a high affinity for spirit. Since spirits count as someone's strength does that mean Subaru was strong, in the pride route Subaru's spirit was strong enough to burn the whole capital and he could control all of that it was because Felix or Roswaal have god level mana manipulation and they taught him. I at least want to be strong enough to defeat Rem because she was one of the weakest in the series out of those who were strong." Since Ren had a new target he decided to try to see if he had a gate.

Ren"I could feel another organ inside me. I guess that's my gate and could feel some mana inside me. Well i don't know if it's mana I'm just gonna assume it is.

Maybe I could change my body to suit fighting and change my bone structure to make them harder by controlling the mana in my body and reinforcing them. Although moving my bone structure will hurt a lot. Since I wanted to be a doctor I know what part of the bones and body structure to change with my mana. Maybe I could subtly move them and slowly instead of one go to make my body 's try manipulating my mana for now." Ren thought.

He tried to move the mana in his body slowly but realised it was difficult and kept practicing since practice makes perfect. In the end Ren spent all his time training his mana control and then pushed himself so much that he passed out.

While Subaru went to sleep from training , Naoko and Kenichi went to talk with the nurses about how long they needed to stay in the hospital.

Naoko:" Excuse me. I wanted to ask how long do I have to stay here before I can go home with me and my baby?" Naoko asked.

Nurse: "You generally have to stay here for one and half days and have to fill in some forms here." said the nurse

Naoko:"Thank you very much for helping us." Replied Naoko in a cheerful voice.

Kenichi:"I guess Subaru will see his new home soon and will probably be happy with all the toys you bought him."Kenichi replied while laughing.

Naoko:"Of course I'm gonna show him how awesome of a mum I am and also make sure he grows up into a good boy" Naoko said in a tone filled with immeasurable excitement. Although she was tired you could notice a few eye bags underneath her eyes and Kenichi instantly noticed them.

Kenichi:"You need to go to sleep, you haven't gotten any sleep lately have you? It's better to rest and have a goodnight so you can play with Subaru with full energy."Kenichi said in a worried tone but strict at the same time.

Naoko:"I guess you're right I will go to sleep. I feel really tired and feel like I can fall asleep any second now."Naoko said in a tired tone.

Kenichi went to sleep with Naoko and in the end the whole family was sleeping and had quite a lot to deal with today. Since their baby was born they got to make sure to be the best parents they could. Although their precious baby was thinking of ways to stay alive and get stronger and survive for the hell that's to come.
